Looks like your lawn has bounced back nicely from the power dethatch video you did. I'm liking the low cut Bermuda. Looks like I may have to dethatch as well. Great video on the grub control.

Thank you! I'm gonna be pulling out the verticutter on it soon too. Lots more content ahead. Right now I'm just waiting for the sand to settle.

How are the seed heads looking. It's that time here in GA .. I've got a white haze on lawn....
@LawnInsider2 жыл бұрын
The ones I have are mostly along the sidewalk and oddly enough around my down spouts. So far nothing too terrible, but I always dread seeing them show up. Mother Nature hasn’t been too kind to us as of late.

If you aerate and seed in the fall for fescue, will spraying Dominion 2L effect fescue seed?
@LawnInsider2 жыл бұрын
Dominion shouldn’t have any effect on the actual grass at all, but I would always suggest you read the label just to be certain.

I just sprayed Bifen on the lawn and realized after I should have started with the grub treatment first.. how long should I wait to spray Dominion in the lawn??

What are seed heads?
@LawnInsider8 ай бұрын
Seed heads are your turf’s attempt at reproducing. They form a hard stalk that shoots off the grass with a seed head at the end. Tough for your mower to actually cut.

I have used a lot different granules and haven't worked. My lawn is infested from grubs. Im thinking of removing all the grass.

I have a termite infestation in my lawn I tried sevin granules combined with ortho spray in and termites are laughing at me . So u recommend dominion will work for termites under the ground? Last question what's up w that alarm clock radio 📻 on your shirt my cousin has one if those old school alarm in his room . Sorry I'm a newb to your channel lol
@LawnInsider2 жыл бұрын
Haha the alarm clock says it’s MOW:30 on there. It is definitely old school. Dominion is a termiticide so it should effectively treat subterranean termites.

Hey Rhett, recently moved to Austin and have really enjoyed your videos learning about warm season turf. I've been told that I have a "watering day" and I don't think I can get down enough water in 1 day to keep my lawn alive throughout the summer. Do you have any suggestions? How do you deal with that? Lots of Hyderetain haha? Love the channel, has helped my lawn tremendously.
@LawnInsider2 жыл бұрын
I just water the one time a week as well. I put down a full inch of water that one day, using two separate 1/2 inch cycles. Space them apart an hour or two to help reduce saturation and runoff. Aside from that we just have to hope and pray we get some relief from Mother Nature!
@alexjamieson2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, I didn't even think to space them out so it gets fully saturated.

I am a bit skeptical of Spectracide Triazicide for grubs. In the turf mechanics video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pquqnp2teJ6Nn6M, at 3:07) he refers to this product not working on grubs. The other two are fine from what I have researched.
@LawnInsider2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never used it specifically for the grubs, so I can’t speak for it’s efficacy in that department.. aside from it being on the label. He might be on to something!
@YouTubeHarringtons Жыл бұрын
@MrDae006 You’re right to be skeptical. None of those products are effective on mature, active grub populations. Products containing imidacloprid, thiamethoxam, clothianidin or chlorantraniloprole will not control grubs in the spring. They are preventive products that work very well on newly hatched grubs present in July, but do not work well for large grubs found from September to May. There are two chemicals, carbaryl and trichlorfon, that are considered curative treatments. They are short-lived compounds that kill all life stages of grubs. These two insecticides are the only options if high numbers of grubs are found in the fall and in spring before early May. Do not use products containing ONLY lambda-cyhalothrin, gamma-cyhalothrin, bifenthrin, deltamethrin, cyfluthrin or permethrin for grub control. Products containing only these ingredients will not work for grub control because the active ingredient binds with organic material and will not move down to where the grubs are feeding. How often do you apply grub control?
@LawnInsider2 жыл бұрын
I’ll normally apply the Dominion twice a year, but really this May application is the only one where I’m focusing on grubs. I’ll just rotate between the Bifen and Dominion products. Probably make 3-4 total insect treatments a season.

Great vid as usual!! Question for you! Do you mix anything with your plant growth regulator to prevent the yellowing on the lawn from the PGR?
@LawnInsider2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes sir, I’ll normally mix it with some liquid iron to help out with the bronzing you get from the PGR.
@mr.greenthumb42932 жыл бұрын
Gotcha! How much iron do you use? And what brand of iron do you use?
@LawnInsider2 жыл бұрын
I never go too heavy. Usually 2oz/1000. I’m using the Greene Effect this season.
@mr.greenthumb42932 жыл бұрын
This is great info! I’m Thinking about using green effect as well. What will happen if you go heavy?

My only reason for going light is that I don’t want to run out of product haha I don’t think anything detrimental will happen.
