It's always a gem to watch someone completely lose a lifetime of object permanence, spatial reasoning, logical deduction, memory, estimation, patience, observational deduction, and any other basic life tool we as humans have to be able to perform tasks on a day-to-day basis, just because this game perfectly forces you to think in ways that you just haven't ever been accustomed to. But holy shit is it still insane to see.

Fun fact: Portal was adapted by Valve after acquiring the student developers at DigiPen working on a game called Narbacular Drop. The integration into the Half-Life universe and comedic approach was almost certainly a master stroke by Valve to broaden its appeal.

For someone that can micro and macro a million units in an RTS, you are not very good at seeing what is right in front of you. This is crazy tbh.
@matesaakАй бұрын
Don't get me wrong I like this guy but man hes slow 😂
@victornguyen1175Ай бұрын
I don't know if slow's the right word, but it always does seem like competitive RTS taught him to think in unusual patterns that make even simple things difficult. It's a bit unfair to Portal, though. It's always been an unusual game for everyone who played it for the first time. Grubby's basically lived under a rock and missed that generation of gaming, so for him, it's just like back when nobody knew about it.
@TijmenZwaanАй бұрын
@@victornguyen1175 Imho, Grubby's main issue is that he almost never takes a pause to just take in his surroundings. He's always frantically zooming all over the place as if he's playing a high level RTS. But that only works if you already know the game. There are so many things that are right in front of him but he just does not process that they're there. Like the clear help messages / hand prints on the walls. The energy ball receptor that was 1.5m away from the energy ball shooter. The last white wall in the momentum introduction. Once he has actually taken in the information, he's very quick to solve the puzzle. He just has a hard time slowing down to actually take in information.
@drewbennett-moss6385Ай бұрын
@@TijmenZwaan very interesting how traits like this highly benefit one in certain genres (in grubbys case RTS games) and hinder you in others. We all have our specialties and thats part of what makes content creators fun to watch, especially when they branch out from their specialties just to have some fun :)
@andrzejnadgirl2029Ай бұрын
Also one thing to keep in mind, he constantly checks Twitch chat. Personally I wouldn't be able to play anything like that, it really makes things much harder.
