Nooo! I love the non medical videos. I think a good mix of both residency topics and life stuff will give us a realistic idea of what it means to be a healthy happy doctor and human on this earth! I sacrificed my early 20s to get into medical school only to realize in the middle of it there is more to life than just medicine. Life is soo short and to just spend your energy on just one aspect of your “self” when we have multiple parts of what makes us human and those parts also need love and nourishment in order to flourish. This how we become happy humans who are here to serve in different ways on this earth! I’m glad you were able to get some time off and away from work!! Sooo proud of you and love your videos. Keep living!!

Love to hear your experiences and thoughts outside of medicine! It's also so heartfilling for me hearing you had never traveled outside if the country. I have traveled just 1x internationally but always feel insecure seeing/hearing how many of my med school peers have traveled to multiple countries (I am a first-gen, low income Latina medical student).

You are so right Rachel that ones passion gives you tunnel vision in a sense and life seems to pass you by but at the time you are so focused on realizing your dream you are willing to make the sacrifice. As you get older you will see that it was your destiny and nothing would have stopped it because you were on the path you were meant to be on. Yes you have missed out on a lot of things but Your heart is leading you where you need to go and it's a drive that one can't easily explain or ignore. People who have a strong sense of their future can't be swayed it is something ingrained in you from birth and you were always meant to be in this profession. Having said that I'm glad you can see that you need to cherish the little things which end up being the big things later on. This holiday is something you will never forget and it's a much needed diversion to help get you through the coming weeks and months as residency continues at the incredible pace that you have had to endure. These little windows of sunshine seem so short but can have lasting effects in order to propel you forward on your journey. I'm so glad you're happy and smiling and just enjoying life as it comes you are literally glowing from the inside out.

I think I went through a similar hard experience at the same time as you just with medical school. So it was very impactful to hear your experience. I definitely came to a similar conclusion about balance and making sure I spend a the time I need to focus on myself outside of medicine

I loved this video! So happy you’re able to take this trip! I’m an oms 2 and becoming more and more interested in obgyn. I was wondering what your thoughts are on research before obgyn residency? I did a ton in undergrad and honestly learned I don’t want to do research 😅 so haven’t done any yet in med school but I’m very involved in the local community at the free clinic etc. I’m wondering if I really need to start pushing hard for research?
