Ah, another person who saw the final combat skills and realised they both benefit the Gryphon greatly. I wound up with a somewhat different build, using Sabot Pods in the mediums and Annihilator Pods and Hammer Pod in the frontal smalls and large.

I build my self pilot Gryphon the same way, except I go for the large hammers instead to make it a little more rounded for smaller craft. It's a huge character investment to get both the extra charge and the missiles perks, but it's totally worth it. Nice show case. I wonder if you can get a reckless capt to trounce on Paragon like that in your Gryphon build.

You should see Yunru's Ptero-class Harrier, not only has all the missles of Gryphon but endless autoforge, and 2 medium 2 small ballistics for pd and upclose engagement.

You can also get an officer with the skill and then take the ship over as soon as you deploy it, it will have more missles

3 small sabots, 2 medium harpoons, then a locust or large reapers I think are better with double-charged gryphons. That build is able to last a whole fleet battle even when outnumbered. Its also good with aggressive officers specially when joined with Dominators or Apogees.

Missiles are just flat out overpowered in this game. Sabots + your favorite HE missile of choice (harpoons, reapers, atropos, etc.) delete any base game ship. That's not even talking about the Hurricane MIRV which can just skip the sabot part and go straight to the deleting. This is also assuming the only thing you're using is missiles - which is totally viable due to expanded missile racks and the missile spec skill - as soon as you throw in anything remotely synergistic into the mix the limiting factor is peak operating time.

I dont really think so. missile are almost worthless when it come to big fights (Due to their limited small ammo) so unless you have a expanded missile rack or something that produces infinite missile, it will only be useful in the early engagement.

@@4SeasonProducer disagree. missile fleets excel in large fights as they have no collision with friendlies. this means you tend to have a lot more firepower able to be concentrated on targets than fleets lacking substantial volumes of missiles. you are correct that they begin to fall off the longer the engagements are, but the advantage secured early more than makes up for that unless you are overwhelmingly outnumbered

@@shdowdrgonrider I think by "large battle", DraNovas meant being overwhelmingly outnumbered. In large number the AI blob up and their pd coverage area overlapped, in which case missile ships will be seeing a huge reduction in effectiveness as soon as the body of the fleet clash. Granted, a missile fleet comprised mostly with sabot might actually work better than any other missile in this scenario given the fact they turn into projectiles beyond pd range. So it's not missile that is overpowered in this game, it is just sabot that is overpowered. Might as well just strap sabot on your paragon so they can just go ham.

Nah it is usually enough, there is eccm package that improves missiles, but it isnt worth it for most ship builds, just remember about missile specialization skill, it is really good

@@coel3572 idk what do you like to do, if you like fleet management take monitor and distract enemies while giving orders, for early game hammerhead is really good very universal, gryphon is good support and phase ships are op if you practice and have high lv captain, ai will handle every ship decently, just play around with lodouts and dont take hard bounties at the beggining

Commander skills shown at the beginning, one of them increase amount of the missiles and their reload, another adds +1 to missile autoforge doubling amount of missiles of base gryphon

gryphon is quite good with more of a ranged setup in AI hands while players can use an aggressive build and this would do fine in a fleet battle as you wouldn't use nearly as much sabots vs most targets letting you kill most cruisers as the reapers come off CD

For normal battles other layouts are more effective, but still with this commander skills you double the missile capacity, this gryphon has 135 sabots in total, thats something scary, especially when you can fire them so fast
