Just like to say thanks for this ! Been looking for a better rig for some months now and It's difficult to judge from advertising hype and pictures . Went for the GT Omega Art a week ago after watching this review . I'm really happy with my choice , it's a great product in every way and can definitely recommend one if anyone is looking like me to upgrade from a cheap Amazon/eBay tube frame type . No seat option as I have a Mazda MX-5 item with headrest speakers on separate amp and this just swapped from my old rig . This is definitely the definitive review for the Art cockpit and your recommendation is spot on 👍

Great review. Been waiting on the comparison. The only reason I went with the apex was because I got everything one at a time. It gave me a chance to dip my toes into sim racing. I bought a g29 to start off with a desk. Later on I outgrew the desk and wanted something more solid but didn’t want to break the bank with a full cockpit. So I got the apex wheel stand. Now I have fallen in love with sim racing so I got the rear frame attachment. This allowed me to try it out slowly without having to spend all my money on something that I might not like. Either way I love your review. Keep up the great work.

I bought the Apex after Karl’s review. Instantly knew I wanted a seat so ahead of Brexit I grabbed the seat frame and XL seat. Haven’t opened the frame or seat yet because we’re going to be renovating our house and they’re better off remaining boxed. I’m a bit disappointed at the mounting options on the shifter plate because it is quite narrow to get a shifter and handbrake on there but eventually when it’s all set up I’ll get creative with a solution. I think the Aiologs pair can be co-mounted to the same mounting point with their single baseplate but I do a lot of rallying and would love a h-pattern. Saw a video of a guy drilling aluminium profile to his seat and attaching a Simvertex to that because it has a tall shifter so that might be a nice solution. Of course, seeing this video, if I could go back in time, I’d grab the Art.

Look either side where it hangs from the uprights as you press down, those brackets/arms flex a bit.

This really helped me realize the Apex is perfect for me, because im a short guy and I have a csl dd on the way. Since the wheel rim sticks out so far from the base on the csl dd, my legs wouldnt be long enough to reach the pedals comfortably on the ART. The Apex having the wheel deck further away and a longer pedal deck is perfect for shorter people, great comparison thank you!

I like the shifter location on the art , I feel like the wheel location mount on the apex has less flex from what I've seen watching reviews/ videos between the 2. I can't decide lol. Probably end up going with the art, as where I live, the rear seat frame for the apex is currently unavailable. I'm sure either are an upgrade from my homemade one lol

U should really check out the titan... I just recieved mine this past week and it is fantastic. It is a big step up from the art, much stronger, more adjustable and IMHO better looking. I know u have mentioned featuring it in the past, and I would like to hear your opinion of it

if it weren't for the shifter mount, I think I would choose the rear seat addon for the apex. That said, the fanatec shifter sits VERY high on an already very high mounting point on the apex, and while its definitely usable and I'm used to it, I think I'm going for the Art sheerly for that.

I think the one scenario (admittedly niche) is for those of us who would like the cockpit driving experience, but lack the space for a full-time permanent setup. So if you can only drive for a few hours on a Saturday morning, and want / need the footprint back the rest of the time, MAYBE an Apex folded and slide the rear section off for storage. Reassembly should (in theory) be as simple an unfold, slot in the rear and tighten.

ah, I just rewatched the Apex rear review, and there's some box steel that joins the bottom of the "A" to turn it into a triangle. Does that ruin my theory for a quick fold @karl?

I think I messed up. I just clamped by gear to my desk for months and was happy but decided to treat myself and get a wheel stand, so bought the GT Omega Apex based on your review. Well, now I want a full cockpit - The Apex rear frame/seat is $400 USD but the Art cockpit with seat is only $50 more.. I think I'm going to have to return/sell the Apex and get the Art, the possibility of mounting a monitor stand in the cockpit frame is what I really want

I love the Apex I got after watching your videos. In your comparison video, the Apex looks narrower, I'm not sure if that is just foreshortening through the lens though. The Apex might be intentionally narrow to fit in the leg space of a desk, I know I like the lower height because it sits further back in the leg space so I can sit up closer to my 27" monitor. I do like the wide panel the wheel mounts onto though. It looks like it would work for a HOTAS if you drilled extra holes. As someone who sometimes tries out the odd flight or space sim that would be quite handy. I could always just buy an extra sheet of metal and bolt it onto the smaller plate the Apex has though.

Hi Karl, really find your reviews informative. I've owned the Apex for a few years now and looking to upgrade to the Art or Titan. I have the rear seat add-on so my question is will the add-on work with the Art or not? I don't need another seat. Or can I get universal seat sliders to work with the Art/Titan?

If you have the Apex with rear seat add on then the ART is not really an upgrade, it does have some additional features but rigidity wise it's about the same. I'd go Titan or Prime if you can afford it, but the Titan does lack some adjustability... tricky choice mate.

@@KarlGosling Thanks for your quick answer. What I should have asked is when you order either rig with no seat, does the kit come with a seat rail or can I use the existing seat rail I have? The biggest reason for upgrading is the wheel base plate on the Apex won't hold my DD Pro securely, keeps loosening no matter how much I tighten it.

Regarding the Apex setup...Did you have any issues with the wheel height adjustment relative to the seat height/position? I've been reading some complaints that it's difficult to get a proper driving position since the seat is too low.

I mean obviously they both are equal at the end point of user experience. The only real difference is whether you go for the full kit or you go via upgrade later and of course if one is at the time of purchase cheaper then the other. Say if apex wheel + upgrade kit are cheaper then the ART then you'd go apex but if you got nothing and want full rig... Obviously you would go for ART as it's just full package and neater as such and if you got nothing but not sure whether you want to dedicate to a sim rig... Then obvious choice is to get apex wheel stand and if you feel that tingle "yep would be sweet to get racing bucket and enjoy the game" then you wouldn't have to spend another 300-350 on a full mid range sim rig package but just an upgrade kit of 200-250... And not end up with uneccesary clutter as you got nothing to do with the wheel stand afterwards if you replace it with a full cockpit. So honestly both products are equally outsanding in the end user experience and it's just about how you approach to these two... If you need right away full rig, you go ART, if you are not sure but still want to test the waters, you go wheel stand and if you decide afterwards to go full sim rig you just convert and done deal. Not missing a thing from a factory full rig. Without ever feeling that back itch "oh god should I have perhaps gone just full rig instead of upgrading?".

Two very different things mate, the SRS kit has four transducers and does way more than what one Butt Kicker can albeit at a lower power output.
