This video will come in handy in 19 years from now when my car reaches the recommended 150,000 mile differential scheduled maintenance. BOOKMARKED!!
@-Wreckanize-5 жыл бұрын
Don't ever follow manufacturer recommended maintenance intervals, it will destroy your car. 150K miles for transmission oil change, lol. I'm changing my diff fluid every 30k, break fluid every 2 years, coolant every 2 years, engine oil every 6 months, trans every 30K miles.
@maddogmark64604 жыл бұрын
Many owners actually track their cars. The extreme high temps will require changing fluids on a regular basis. Those owners that use their cars for groceries and such can follow the owners manual.

awesome video. I have been wanting to do it but do not want to be wastefull. Even your oil with 5k and 4 HPDE looked good. i hit 6k and only 2 track day but car is 1 year old. I may just do it once a year and more frequent if tracked more.

Thanks for doing this. I have a magnetic 2017 as well and need to change my Diff fluid.

ballzasspower no problem. It's a really easy change. You can actually just disconnect the line without pulling the plug like I did but I wanted to see the magnet and clean it off. -Adam

Great video bro, nice car. If you use redline fluids they come with the friction modifiers.

Dang, composite oil pan. I didn't know that about the GT350. With the cooling systems on this car, it would probably make me nervous lol. Nice video man.

azurebluemach why nervous?
@leemoknows7 жыл бұрын
Harold Ortiz That I'd have a leak in the fittings to the cooling system.
@Lateralgrip7 жыл бұрын
NAH!!!! But on the other hand, there is also a composite radiator support to save weight ; )
@cabudge097 жыл бұрын
Harold Ortiz it's actually a carbon fiber radiator support.
@Lateralgrip7 жыл бұрын
cabudge09 don't believe the hype it's not actual true carbon fiber it's a mixture of plastic and carbon fibor materials that's why on the radiator support it says carbon fiber composite.

Absolutely a great video. I appreciate the detail looking under the car. I wonder if you would have started it would the diff oil pump kicked on and drained the system?? Not saying you're doing anything wrong. Just wondering.
@russandadamsgarage1056 жыл бұрын
Steve B thanks for commenting. There is a thermal switch that activates the pump. I read on one of the forums that someone makes a kit to activate the pump in order to get more fluid out. If you track your car as long as you change the fluid frequently you should be fine. -Adam

How did you find a place that rents outs car bays to work on cars??

Pretty cool vid. But something struck me a little bit odd. It seemed like you filled the oil then reconnected the line. Then you put the plug in. Wouldn't the oil have leaked out of you did it in that order instead of connecting the line, then filling the oil, then put the plug back in? Also when draining, did you use the pump to pull out any more fluid? I'd also like to see a follow up video of how it drives or anything you did before you took a drive.
@cabudge097 жыл бұрын
I had like 20 video clips that I combined to make the final video. I may have inadvertently put them in the wrong order when editing. It was a long day. I reattached and tightened down the line before I refilled the diff. As far as actuating the pump it's not necessary to do the oil change. I got 90% of the fluid out without actuating the pump. I am very thorough when it comes to the maintenance of my vehicles and I change the gear oil every few thousand miles. Because I change it so frequently it's not a big deal if I only get 90% of the fluid out. There is a company developing a kit that will allow you to manually activate the pump and get all the fluid out. Thanks for commenting
@Track_Rat_6474 жыл бұрын
Good video, but there is a step in the service manual you need to accomplish, priming the pump. “b Fill axle to bottom of fill plug opening, operate the axle cooler pump using computer diagnostic tool to prime the cooler system, then refill axle to ~9mm below the fill plug level. This level includes friction modifier.”

Morten Nielsen I'm OCD when it comes to the maintenance on my vehicles. Also, not a bad ideas after you track your car to make sure everything is kosher under the car. I'd have to look in the manual again but there is a recommendation to change the oils based on track hours.

so have you figured out how to get the remaining oil out of the diff cooler? Total capacity is supposed to be like 6.6 quarts. Next time you change anything, switch to AMSOIL. Get rid of that motorcraft garbage.
@paulmccutcheon3 жыл бұрын
Supplemental document for GT350 indicates 2.05 quarts and 4.25 oz of friction modifier. Nowhere near 6.6.quarts.
