I don't know why all these people NEVER mention this, as someone who ALWAYS preferred GT since GT2 (my first one) the FEEL just feels WRONG in GT. I never noticed it when I played the old ones, because it was better than arcade games but when you play Forza it's a lot different. Modifications to cars in Forza feel real, not like GT's "Wow, I just put a lot of parts on - wait why does my car take off and sound the same?" Forza lets you swap motors, do stuff that makes a real world difference. I never fought the car to maintain control in GT, not the same realistic way that Forza does. I did a comparison when I had GT5 rented to Forza 3 (when both were not out for long) and the same modified Subaru Impreza ripped tires and was difficult to control with traction off in Forza, but felt and sounded like a real Subaru. The GT5 one had similar power and mods, but it took off weakly. I didn't have any issues controlling the "raw power", just braking and going around corners. Sorry, but there's more to driving cars to me than just learning finesse around corners. Not to mention that every car in Forza has a detailed interior, whereas most of GT5's were just PS2 models that looked like garbage. Sorry, this is no comparison to me. Now Forza 5? Eh I don't know. Doesn't look so hot because of multiple factors. But I certainly wouldn't buy GT6 either. As someone who does not own, nor do I even have the slightest interest in owning a PS4 or Xone it's inconsequential to me. Forza might have more DLC, but the cars will drive and feel more realistic. I have no idea where Polyphony got their ideas for car handling, but the customization is totally lacking. I was disappointed that GT5 was basically a graphics update and still felt like cars in GT4, GT3, and even GT2 to my memory. God forbid they overhaul their physics system. Not to mention damage models. TL;DR: There's too much wrong with GT games now that better options are out there. They don't offer the depth, but games in the Dirt series and Grid as well as some of the other ones I can't think of that I know are on PC are great titles at their respective areas. GT feels too artificial. I have no idea how a person could possibly say GT seems realistic compared to Forza, if they've actually driven a reasonably powerful car at some point in reality.

GT's pretty good but (imo) they have too many filler cars just so they can say they have 1000+ cars. I'd rather have what Forza did, 400-500, all looking the same (not a majority of them looking like PS2 models) and have detailed interiors. Not to mention more variety. not, it's not realistic. it's a well known problem.tires screech when losing grip. in gt5 they screech when gripping. any amount at all. it's completely unrealistic, and honestly, it actually messes up the driver. electronic games are severely lacking in car feedback, and in gt 6 (and 5), you can't rely on sound. what's left is force feedback, but even that only if you have a wheel. so how the hell do you tell you car is losing grip? bah why do i bother. like someone who says that pile of garbage would listen to reason.

GT5 is a better game than FM4 because the game is about simulation and when your playing FM4 if you turn very slightly the car starts to drift for no reason and GT5 feels more like a simulation game than FM4 but FM4 has better graphics but the driving physics are a lot better on GT5 than on FM4.

simulation? if you are one gear above than the specified to make a turn, the car's steering just locks up, you can't turn. i can make some of the game's turns above the specified speed limit in any game, but i cant on grand turismo. even if i'm just 10km/h above the speed limited indicated before a turn. this is simulation for you? for me it is not

Simulation is a setting within FM4 that turns off assists, turns on damage, etc. As for the cars sliding, why is that unrealistic? I thought cars have limited amounts of grip.

Anyone who says GT5 has better graphics than Forza 4 needs to admit they are biased against Forza, because Forza is easily superior in the graphics department. When I play Forza, everything just flows better, you can drive any car you want anywhere. Some of Forza's tracks are nice, the Apline tracks always take my breath away. Forza cars sound better, the look better (no "Premium" cars that look better than the rest). I do admit GT5 has a lot of good things going for it too, the handling is neck and neck with Forza, and GT5 has rally car racing. Regardless, I think Forza 4 comes out the winner here, and I bet it stacks up well against GT6 too. So Gran Turismo fans need to just accept Forza surpassed GT

In graphics and realism Grand Turismo 5 is the winner. However Forza Motorsport 4 wins in having if you get tired of Gran Turismo 5. I have both systems PS3 and XBOX 360 I have to say Gran Turismo 5 is better and here are my reasons why. In Forza Motorsport 4 I have problems Drifting and turning corners at higher speeds. Due to Forza Motorsport 4 lack of part detail and customization. Gran Turismo 5 however I can customize my parts,tires,and really anything there is to customize. But to correct myself from saying,"Due to Forza Motorsport 4 lack of part detail and customization." you can customize your Rims,Tires,and Vinyls/Decals. Therefore the only thing Gran Turismo 5 is missing is the Vinyls/Decals customization.

The best comment I've seen in ages. as a former iRacing veteran I find GT5 being alot more better what comes to actual driving, mainly because there are several cars in GT5 I have driven in real life, while iRacing has none. Funniest part is that PC believers do think that their G27 gives somehow better feedback than when its used with a console, which is complete BS because the wheel doesnt change one bit, so the actual "feel" is 100% the same no matter what hardware you're using with it.

I also have these both systems with both games and I can agree with you, FM4 is a game you can finish up without using much effort, no matter how powerful the car is, the driving feels like you've doing a road trip, while in GT5 you need to use your brakes, ease on the gas and drive carefully so the tires wont lose the grip, in FM you just drive like you've escaping from something without need to worry if the tires wear out, as there is no career race where tires would tear out at all.

They need to let u swap motors in GT and drive lines the only thing u get to swap out is a transmission and no break upgrades. I like the car selection but wish I could customize the look with my own paint and decals. Buying Xbox 1 for the new forza but also getting GT6 for my PS3

No problem Kazunori Yamauchi (Creator of GT series) mentioned (May 15, 2013) that the menu and loading times will be improved so that conversation is addressed. As for the improvement of engine sounds ect we will see. The demo releases in july btw.

when it comes to road cars (from a Fiesta to an Enzo) - taking them and tuning/customising, listening to them on track then Forza IS better, much much better. However, when it comes to the race cars such as JTCC cars and subsequent endurance racing round, for eg the 'Ring or Suzuka (weather + day/night) GT wins and it's not even close......... tl;dr both are great and both can improve A LOT

You're absolutely right there, even the creater behind the Forza series wanted it to suit more people who just loves cars in general and Forza does an amazing job about the cars it has but besides that, the game itself is pretty much like the Forza 1 with better graphics yet not realistic. Still, there wont be a game that could ever replicate a real car 100% accurate because regular players could not play it "properly" at all and the sales would dive deep.

You're wrong. You can restrict more on FM4 online races than you can in GT5. In Forza 4, you can set HP and torque restrictions, class restrictions, you can ford people to not use ABS, you can force all assists off, choose what type of car is allowed (ie; hatchbacks, sedans, coupes, sports, hypercars, etc) You can also make it so if someone joins with a 900hp car, restrictors will be placed in their intake, to drop it too whatever HP you set as max.

I have to agree, both games feels very same if we are honest, both games can be played with a controller, main differences are those you cannot paint your car in GT5 like in FM4 and you cannot do mechanical swaps in GT5. Everything else is pretty much the same.

Porsches came into the game so late due to a licencing issue that had to get cleared up, from fm3->4 and for roughly 30 cars, along with a string of porsche events i think its well in line to charge 1600 for that, the normal ones caust 400 - 560 giving you 10, this is roughly 4 times the size

forza 4 has great car models, but only in photo mode or with one car race. During normal gamaplay cars have no interiors at all similar to standard cars in gt5. Premium cars in gt5 looks miles better because even during normal gameplay car interiors are fully rendered.

Just to preempt your little wet terrain part of this. That has everything to do with traction progression. Real tires deform, Forza 4 tires deform and have grip progression. GT5 tires don't which is why it feels like its locked to the surface until you loose total traction, which is when GT5 slides without even bleeding off speed (because the tires have almost zero traction at high angles, with no progression in between) You can experience this in real life if you take a car past the limit.

Also I love the used car dealership. It keeps you playing until you get that perfect car you want. This is PD's first game on PS3, I'd imagine they're making at least 600 premium cars for GT6 and improving audio in the next 3 or so years as it's going to be a PS3 game.

the only reason why i think forza 4 is better is the camera when you go around a corner in gt5 the camera is fixed it doesnt move from right behind the car where as in forza 4 it it moves so when you drift the camera moves so you can see where your going NOT where the car is pointing but thats my opinion

I completely agree that the range of customisation is just fantastic. I have all the aids off when i drive. I guess i've just played gt5 more so i feel "at home" playing it, but on forza i have trouble getting used to it, brilliant game though. Polyphony and Microsoft should collaborate and mix the best of both worlds to create the ULTIMATE driving game for both consoles

I would say GT5 is a half-sim game since it's all about racing, not driving in all aspecs, as they said "The Real Driving Simulator" which I truly disagree with them saying that, even though I am a GT5 player. Forza 4 is also considered a half-sim like GT5, both of them have advantages and disadvantages. I would say both are neither better. It can be better for others which they prefer, but my opinion, both are equal.

Been active iRacing player and I got news for you, it is a GAME, not a simulator. That is only the PC players versus console players crap that has gone wild since '80's. IF iRacing would be a simulator, no 5 year old could ever actually play it, you know ? but in our world it is actually playable by anyone who are to willing to try, so it is a game, just like the console racing games. Btw, GT5 is actually used by pro racing drivers aswell, K.Räikkönen for example, to practice tracks.

the thing i've noticed is that GT is a much more serious game; the racing as a whole is for people who like hardcore stuff, while forza is much, MUCH more accessible. you could be a complete novice, but still jump into it without feeling run over. as a whole, GT is for people who love racing. but Forza is for people who just like cars (you know, petrol heads). it sounds better, looks better, feels just as realistic, and EVERY car is treated with the same amount of quality and respect

No dude. I own both. And GT5 does have the better suspension physics (although a much older tire model). Its a tradeoff really. Better sounds and easy accessibility with loads of customization. Or More cars, tracks and much more realistic overall feel.

Atleast GT5 does the brake modelling better, tire wearing, you can set different tire compounds on front and back (crucial in racing world) You can drive on wet, snow and dirt and all feels completely different as should, when comparing to real life, cars does oversteer and understeer as supposed, you can actually add your own weight into a car (Important) Fuel consumption depends on driven speed and a car, cars does have wind resistances done right... either of these aspects cant be done in FM4

Derek Butler Doesnt mean anything if "you own both consoles and both games" if you havent heard, lets say a Karmann Ghia Coupe in real life, or driven one, you just CANT know how it really sounds like. FM cars sounds just like you're having the damn engine fitted on the passenger side and the exhaust pipes are places inside the car. Both developers does record the car sounds from the cars (except the ones they cant afford to borrow) but FM guys just put the car on a dyno inside a 9 square feet garage to do the recording...

Derek Butler You know, a Dodge Charger, lets say a year '69 model, is extremely RARE as in stock condition these days, it makes a whole a lot difference if the owner has changed the exhaust system into a larger one than it originally had. Let's say you'd see 5 Chargers on a parking lot, what are a possibilites each of these cars would sound exactly the same ? There's the answer... PS.Had a Charger R/T about 7 years ago

Sampyla20plus Bro chill out, no matter what you say to these Forza fanboys they will never agree with you because they are too blind about the visuals and sound. Introdocing Forza 5 which quality over quantity was the reason for the lack of cars and tracks.

Well I'm an xbox player and a massive Forza fan BUT I admit that GT5 is an AWESOME game! And when the next gen consoles will come out my choice will depends on wich of of these two game series will be better!

As a former iRacing player I can only feel ashamed in behalf of those PC fanatics who really fight for their machinery that has costed more than 5 x PS3/Xbox360 combined, so ofcourse they are defending it because it has been such a huge investment, I changed from iRacing to console racing games mainly because the actual driving is pretty much the same BUT console games has a hell of a lot more interesting cars than iRacing, the ones I've driven in real life. iRacing is just a game aswell.

Couldn't agree more. GT5 can come close, but project cars is more like the real driving simulator. But I currently am enjoying GT5 more.

Not too far away, interesting times will be ahead with the whole new hardware, I will wait abit until they clear out every possible "malfunction" they might have, like overheating and such but if we are lucky, there are no hardware/software complications.

Pretty much true, FM has cars that are really something but it is sad that either of those cars handle like they should due to the fact the surface types on FM4 are made all wrong and there are no differences on Disc or Drum brakes in FM either, while in GT5 there are.

The sounds and damage modelling are all part of the full sim package, just cos the physics are good doesnt mean its a full sim. For physics go for GT, for everything else go for Forza.

Actually, been driving 303 km/h at the Autobahn in Germany and been driving on Nurburgring several times more faster than 200 km/h along with other race tracks I've been driving on... But in the end, it is not my fault if you have never tried GT5 with Sport or Comfort tires instead of using Racing tires (You know how much grippier Slick tires are in real life compared to regular tires ?) In FM4 the difference between the slick and regular tire is so minimum you cant even feel the difference.

Real cars sound like vacuum cleaners, just add a turbo. GT5 cars sound real, and even the tire skid, only problem is that the skid sound volume over powers the Car sounds. Fronza sounds are muffled and enhanced, cars no longer sound real, they sound like their recorded and played back thru a speaker. But I admit its more pleasing to ears.

You got that right, but as for business, the sales tells the truth, because everytime you purchase a game, you are voting for YES for it, so if 10 million people picked GT5 instead of FM4 it means the GT5 is actually a better game overall no matter how much review score it got. Though, each CoD sells insanely much but it is far from actually a good game, though if players vote that pile of crap with their money, then it means I'm completely wrong about it. Players gets what they are paying for

Game nr.1 features day and night racing, weather effects, rally racing, Nascar events, F1 racing, lets you drive concept cars that aren't even revealed in real life, is used by professional race drivers to train, and turns gamers into real life race drivers with a program called GT Academy. Game nr.2 lets you knock over bowling pins on the Top Gear circuit... Yes, with Game nr.1, I mean GT5 and people really need to face the fact that Forza 4 doesn't stand a chance against GT5 as a sim at all.

I have both. In forza 4, the damaged car affect is so unnecessary. It ruins the momentum of the race. Sometimes I think that GT5 was right, damaged affects should be less emphasized on. The people on xbox live treat the game like it's midnight club racing. It's hard to have a clean race. Forza is a beautiful game but it's too cartoonish. GT5 has more realistic colors. However, the environment and sounds are better in forza.

I like it when reviews on race games are focused more on graphics than actual gameplay! Especially when both games are console only!

Well let just put it this way. Grab turismo is the better sim while forza is the better game. Believe me on this one because I played both series.

@@tempestjay7865 ive played both and come to the conclusion that you play what you want and alot of preference, I play FM4 but I miss playing licence tests, the soundtrack and sounds and career mode. (Ive only played Gran Turismo 3,4).

In gt5 cars with a v8 engine will be supercharged, all others will be turbocharged except for a few cars such as the Lotus Esprit V8. And there are cars that can get both such as the TVR Cerbera Speed 12

That will be interesting, but one will come out on the old consoles, and the other will be on the new hardware. There will be some things we just can't compare.

Yeah, I guess you're right. What I usually end up seeing are probably the people who think one game is entirely better than the other with absolutely no exceptions.

From someone who enjoys drifting in "REAL" life, Gran turismo 5 doesn't give me anything "REAL fun", even with a full fanatec + mounted handbrake setup. Forza 4 on the other hand, while not perfect. Simulates and captures the drift feeling far more accurately.

When you said at the end 'GT5 has better reflections and lighting off the cars, awesome weather, realistic roads....', wouldn't that result in better graphics for GT5, because it also has better effects, lighting on the interior as well, no?

People dont really understand GT5, its a pc sim on console that's why so many kids cry about weak car sounds (when they are recorded from real life models and from inside the cars) and real physics. The wheel behaviour in GT5 is spectacular. What? Bugatti Veyron-listen to it in real life and then compare it to Gt5, in gt5 it sounds like an f1and in real life it it sounds like a truck. When you hit a wall the car doesnt get damaged

I'm a fan of GT5 and I agree it's a much better simulator, but I have to say that the engines sound much better in Forza, and I really hope it's fixed in GT6.
