ok but i was in the gamemaker community when this game came out and it was *revolutionary* at the time gamemaker was not designed for 3d games, *at all* so the fact that a game like this could exist and be somewhat functional (on the hardware of the time) was outstanding undertale was made on game maker studio, this one was made on game maker 7, a looooooooooong-ass time ago also i wish i could insert images so i could throw a bait image at mr. d3ng4r :v

Platformers are easy to make by comparison because everyone in the GM community knows how to make them, and 2D sprites plus animations are so easy that the software comes with a sprite maker (for those 8-bit lovers).
