As soon as I discovered this was a feature, I came to check if TJGM had made a video on this, so I was surprised when that wasn't the case! Can't wait for it to come out. As soon as I found out about this, I adapted the "IV Remastered Vehicles Pack" to use with Overloader since it's much easier than the old method, separately from the other pack I made, have to say I'm really happy with the results. Happy enough I was sending it out to my friends to try the game out as it's intended. Can't say there's a better time to play GTA IV than now.

I've always loved modifying San Andreas because of the ModLoader there, where you basically just drag any file into the folder. When I started modifying GTA V, I was quite discouraged by the "complexity" and time spent making a simple change to the game. I'm happy to know that now GTA IV has ModLoader too, I hope one day it will be in V also.

OpenIV has a build in mod loader for V, it’s had it for a while now.

@@IrisWasTaken1 I know, but it's still more work compared to ModLoader in other games, which just throws the files in the folder. Depending on the mods you install, you may need to make changes manually. Like handling of vehicles or audio for the engines. Soooo boring.

So rockstar devs had that originally regarding the famous update.rpf used in GTA V (PC). But it was cut somehow, glad that code for it still exists and works in IV!

Reminds me of Sonic Mania's Data Folder mode. The game loads all its assets from the Data.rsdk file, however, if you extract the contents of that file into a folder named "Data" the game will load all the assets from the folder instead, and the window title will change to read "Sonic Mania (Data Folder)". Not having to repack the Data.rsdk file saves a lot of time for modding and a behind-the-scenes video revealed that the development team used this mode to quickly test changes while working on the game.

To counter the taxi bug, open ini file of fusionfix (found in the scripts folder by default), scroll down to the bottom, and change vehicle budget to the number it recommends

@@KingOfComedyXD "*a* mod loader feature" Fusion Fix is not just a mod loader, it also includes graphical features/fixes along with the mod loader feature. Those are the things that affect the performance severely, and so were not worth it. However, that was 1 year ago because recent Fusion Fix updates seem to have gotten much better.

It's not really for mods as such, it was initially used to apply patches and updates to the game on PS3, like patchday DLCs for GTA V.

Radio Restorer has an option to restore four cut songs from the game, one on Vice City FM and three on Self-Actualization FM, since these songs had DJ comments left behind.

That's for mods that have been adapted to Fusion's mod loader like the Ash R's car pack you've shown. But you can also install simpler mods like Colored radio icons by giving it a path somehow in the Update folder without having to downgrade.

Huh, weird. I remember having that exact same idea based on GTA V's dlclist file and how the mods folder uses a modified version of it to load modified .rpf files (basically the modded dlclist can read/unread the DLCs and the order they do so, meaning you can unload vanilla DLCs in case you don't want so much bloat [although you cannot delete the files so its kinda pointless]). Naturally I thought it wouldn't work because otherwise people would have already figured it out lol

Depends. As someone with experience of modding the PS2 version of San Andreas there is something you need to keep in mind. The consoles are much more limited with RAM/VRAM and the games are already using 99% of it. If a mod adds more burden to RAM or VRAM, it will just freeze or not load the texture. It needs to be optimized or a visual downgrade to work properly. Some type of compression should work. One way to test these more easily is to use the emulator to see if everything loads fine, and then dump it to the console.

Yup you can order them by adding numbers to the mod's IMG or folder, "1 Fusion fix" for example will take priority over "2 Various Fixes"

Meaning Rockstar was planning to enable mod support in GTAIV but scrapped it halfway, like they did with a ton of features we're finding the leftovers from in GTA:SA for example... It's up to the community to support GTA IV in any case, we can't rely on Rockstar to do other that try to take legal actions against modders.

Why did the PS3 have a modloader that was able to load any game file with the "update" folder specifically and not the 360? Did it have something to do with the convuluted Cell Processor that was a bitch to work with back in the 7th gen days?

As far as I know, they just forgot to remove it from other versions. They didn't even remove it fully from the PC version, as some functionality still exists.

Ultimate ASI loader makes my game not launch. I downloaded it for Liberty Tweaks since it says my file is outdated and I had to redownload the entire game 2 times trying to figure this out since it says my game might not run correctly if i stay not up to date for the dsound.dll file. I'm going to try one more time otherwise i'll just play with that warning. Anyone ever had this problem and figured it out?

It works with the Rockstar Games Launcher version, if anything it helps you mod that version since you can use modded files in the update folder and Rockstar doesn't check that so it won't try and verify them.

By who? I've never seen it used and I talked to a lot of modders who have never seen it used either, not in GTA IV. The only modder who seems to have known about it and has used it was Zolika, 2 years ago, in an obscure mod most people didn't know existed. How is this clickbait exactly? The title doesn't say anything about the feature being just discovered, and I said in the video the WIDER modding community only recently discovered it, which seems to be the case considering you're the only person who's commented so far saying they've known about it, while everyone else is very surprised. So no, not clickbait. The video is informative and only helps people and the modding community overall.

This method has been used in the past, since it was first discovered with the release of patch 8 in 2016. You're right that as of recent, only Zolika has used it thoroughly, but in no means in a "obscure mod" but in zmenu, which is the most used menu for IV and included in basically every downgrade guide or even Clonks downgraded. It is simply not true that something "new" has been discovered after 15 years. The fact that it is brought to light like this by the FF team is just to cover up all their recent fuck-ups, but you should know about their scummy practices as you're rather far into IV modding as far as I can tell. @@TJGM
