How fast do you think you could run a half marathon with 8 weeks of training? 🏃⌚👀
@PatrickStar-km1dmАй бұрын
8 weeks in not efficient enough time to train. You need at least 16 preferably 20 weeks of training.
@DarenCАй бұрын
I'd estimate around 2:20. I've only ever done three, last one was a 2:16 about 4 years ago and I've barely run since. Best was 2:10 in the first half of London in 2016 (my one and only marathon)

The same speed i could now, about a day and a half 🤣. I am still working on doing 10km in an hour 😊

@@gtn it would have been about 1:30. I ran a 19min 5k after 5 weeks, and a 40min 10k after about 10 weeks, a couple of years ago, after 8 years only cycling (due to a bad skiing knee injury). Didn’t race a half for a while but ran a tempo training half in 1:34 not too long after
@JohnButler-iq8rlАй бұрын
I recall when I finished racing admittedly not at conors level I took a couple of years out doing nothing then entered a 10k and rather nieve thinking I'd do 40 ish minutes----what I'd neglected in this scenario that I'd gone from 11st to 14 stone during the couple of years gap----doohh 😅😅.

Given the running channel is a separate entity, I doubt it would happen. I think it would be a fun crossover, but the attitude seems to be 'anything running related can be handled by the tri-folks on gtn' and that's the end.

When I was a plodder/short steps, I found trying to drop the hips an inch or two (ie. bent legs) really cuts down on shin pain... but I never felt fast or sustainably 10+km/h. Well, I have to say all this videos by GTN are a little bit disappointing towards running because they completely miss the opportunity to educate the viewers on running technique, body biomechanics and just continue to spread the false assumption that running is bad for your body and health. For anyone that is interested, running doesn’t have to be impactful on the body! We were designed to run, we’ve been running for millions of years from which just the last 50 we’ve been injured because one guy decided to change the way we land with a loner gait, and instead of using our natural shock absorbers and springs for energy return, our leg muscles, we are blocking that ability with cushioning and “shoe technology”. Please read the Run for Your Life book by Mark Cucuzzella! Don’t start running by choosing a shoe brand, you have to learn first your form, you have to get strong legs with exercise and nutrition. You don’t have to be hurt and injured because of running. The shoe/running mainstream is hurting you… but you were born to run.
@ChoedronАй бұрын
Why on earth would you impose the idea of training for a half marathon in 8 weeks? That is beyond me. If you have not done any running before, you risk injuries due to ligaments not being strong enough for the work.

For your information a few years ago I also did 1:40 half marathon after 3 months of training. So, it's doable if you have base fitness built on the bike. Of course I do not recommend it to everyone. Depends on the person's fitness.
@teplak4805Ай бұрын
It depends on your base fitness level. For these individuals, it's quite achievable, hence the impressive time of 1:39.
@Jay685Ай бұрын
But tbh, you only had to look at the biomechanics of the one guy and it was obvious it wasn't going to end well. Then he started mentioning shin splints and having to run off road. He's obv got a history of injuries and now he's done his back in. I do wonder about GCN's duty of care to their staff, esp after the MB guy got rhabdo...too much, too soon in the name of advertising.
