@@sportsmaster1364 And they have to know the strengths & weaknesses of their entire bullpen, plus the strengths & weaknesses of the opposing lineup, plus tendencies. And they have to be able to calm & encourage their pitchers' emotions. At any time, they're more of a coach than the manager...so managing is a breeze comparatively.

@TinKnight

It was against Reese McGuire, who ranked 42nd last year for pop time, is pretty much the same this year, & is rated pretty poorly by Statcast for CS & pitch blocking. It's more aggressively taking advantage of your opponent than being reckless.
@sportsmaster1364
@sportsmaster1364 Ай бұрын
Why do the Red Sox these past couple of years strike me as the "team with no awareness". Duran last year completely losing sight of the ball and watching it sit on the warning track while Verdugo ran for it, now this pitcher who is supposed to be covering home plate, Reese expects him to be, he absolutely isn't and he watches the ball be tossed at him like a towel as Ramirez scores. Good grief.

"The catcher feels bad about that." (the throw going into LF) Catcher literally hit the bag at second. That's the most perfect throw he could have possibly done. Who are the guardians? Why is this weird minor league team in the MLB?
@joetroyner
@joetroyner Ай бұрын
@@NZIGNANTI They'll always be the red face scalpers to me ❤ Seriously though, the Guardians is a terrible name. If it weren't for the Rockies, I'd say they should be the Cleveland Rocks (because everyone loves Drew Carey and PUSA). Otherwise, one look on wikipedia gives a bunch of great names just from the city's rich jazz history. How 'bout the Dukes for Duke Ellington? Or the Pops for the Cleveland Pops Orchestra? The Cabs or Cabbies for Cab Calloway? The Nobles for Noble Sissle. The Bones? The Thugs? Or the Harmonies? All for obvious reasons. The Guardians is just bad..
@joetroyner
@joetroyner Ай бұрын
P.S. I'm a Philly guy and don't know shit about Cleveland. I feel like someone actually from the city could have done way better than the guardians. I'd be genuinely afraid of what would happen if they tried to rename the Phils. They were ready to burn down the stadium with the most recent jersey reveal..
@chadchadderton
@chadchadderton Ай бұрын
@@joetroyner As someone from philly you're no doubt experienced with teams who have utterly terrible names.. I mean the "Philadelphia Phillies" would be the worst name in the league if the rockies and guardians didn't exist. But my god people from cleveland have it as bad as those from philly... I mean sheesh the browns AND guardians? yikes.

Really interesting thing that didn’t get pointed out - rather than camping under it the right fielder camps out behind it, then comes in before catching it *presumably* because they wanted to make the runner think it was deeper than it actually was.
