Thanks for sharing. Is so rich and beautiful the United Kingdom of Guatemala established since 1609 and that extends from El Soconusco (today Chiapas) to part of Panama. Guatemala is 12th producer of silver in the world and 20th producer of gold besides having massive reserves of nickel, jade and so many other natural resources too bad for almost a century big foreign multinational anglosaxon corporations have been taking almost everything. Long live Juan Santamaria the heroe of Costa Rica who died in battle against the anglo pirates. The Malvinas belong to Argentina, The Esequibo belongs to Venezuela and Belice belongs to Guatemala. Guatemala so exploited and sabotaged for almost a century but never gives up. God bless

This was so lovely and gave me a slice of daily life in Guatemala City that I don't think I would've had anywhere else. I recently visited Antigua and completely skipped Guatemala City, which I now realize may have been a bit of a premature judgment. What you showed us was the most random and adorable bit of serendipity. The Rubik's Cube kid who spoke perfect English, the rellenito dessert, the stark contrast between high-tech shopping mall and traditional market, and the Romeo flower seller offering Erica a flower. You managed to compress so much random humanity into 19 minutes, it was quite delightfully entertaining.

One place I think everyone should visit and is underrated it's the museum in Miraflores mall, not many know but it's an archaeological site where you can get inside a real pyramid, see the bones of the person who was burried there and a lot of archaeological artifacts, you also learn how Guatemala city looked like back in the day of the Mayans

"Yo tube pelo" = I had hair (meaning, now I'm bold, LoL) My two cents... The majority of tourists, visit from big urban areas, therefore they want nature, something different... Lakes, beaches, parks... That may be the reason a good percentage of them skip Guatemala city. Safety issues? Aren't they everywhere? Surely, all big cities whichever country or continent it is in, have them, safety issues. You've mentioned that before, always be aware of such, yet don't let it freeze you from enjoying traveling. A flower💮, given to a beautiful flower...🌻

It is possible that kid is growing in the states, but then again in Guatemala there's a lots of schools where kids are taking english classes a lot more than it used to be 30 o 40 years ago, so you can run into a lot of people that are at a different levels with english, is not new but also other lenguages are studied in Guatemala, on top of the 22 other Mayan lenguages , and is not too uncommon to find someone that speaks several idioms 3 or 4 in some cases maybe even more en fin que hayan disfrutado mi bella Guate

My man, you just got me dead laughing when you said the scariest thing in Guatemala were the amusement parks, I mean it... they are fun, but terrifying. I am from Guatemala, and I would like to thank you for sharing that our forever autumn contry is worth far more than meets the eye. We are a country fully inmersed and filled with cultures, languajes, landscapes, natures and kind hardworking people. Unfortunately most of the crime is due to poverty and lack of oportunity on jobs... cause if you even go deeper, you could find poor people trying to sell even the smallest things, that learnt even to 5 languajes to meet and sell to tourists, THAT is hardwork and dedication (that was the case of a 12 year old girl I met in the Amatitlán lake). So... long story short.... if you ever would like to learn from the richness of our country, NEVER let yourself with the doubt or try asking someone, it will be worth to learn what can behold our little enormous place in this world.🇬🇹 Pd: might sound crazy, but rellenitos does not have chocolate, that flavour comes from the beans with cinnammon and suggar, it was intended from conquistadors to immitate the dish without cacao.
