GUCCI BLUSH DE BEAUTÉ CONFUSING FIRST IMPRESSIONS

hi friends, I have had a few more days with this blush since filming, and here are my better-articulated thoughts: 1. The listing online calls the color ROSY TAN but the compact says ROSY BEIGE. They are both numbered color 05. 2. It is wearable for me when applied in a light wash, kind of like the very first layer in this video at 4:57 or even lighter 3. But on my complexion, draping with this blush leads to a patchy, almost metallic look. It reminds me of the effect that I get when I use a richly pigmented highlighter as a blush (like Fenty Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule). 4. Ergo, I think this blush will be gorgeous on medium and medium-deep complexions, which is fantastic-it’s great that this range includes a sexy dusky neutral that is also a very strong color, we love to see it. But because of the formula, it is perhaps not as well-suited to the super pale. (Unless you are super pale and looking for a barely-there wash of glossy color and you don’t mind that it’s testy when you try to layer it). 5. PERSONALLY I feel like “what’s the good of a blush if you can’t drape it.” So for me it’s a fail. But I have come to believe that this is not because it’s a bad blush, but rather because it’s not meant for my skin tone. I might have had better luck with Tender Apricot or Fresh Rose. That’s it so far! Will report back again in future videos!

Sooo I am VERY pale and I have a different color (coral) and it is incredibly smooth. I know you have no reason to spend the money on another color but I would be SO CURIOUS in a comparison of different colors for SCIENCE REASONS you know

You mention that you think the blush looks good in person, but patchy on camera. This make me think about how different lighting conditions effect hiw foundation appears on cam. Maybe its just the lights distorting how the blush appears on your skin.

I feel like this is a perfect example of one of the things you learned during your no buy: if you buy something similar to what you already love, you will always love the first one more. You were hoping it would be like the Kevin Aucoin bronzer, but you already have that, and it’s perfect. So either this Gucci blush would’ve been a dupe for what you already own, or worse. I have this and I do adore the shade on my freckled aggressively cool nuetral light medium skin. However longevity isn’t great unless I layer it on a cream. I don’t find it patchy but I also have not tried a heavy drape

Hi Hannah Louise! Thank you for featuring and reviewing this blush. One reason the blush looks a bit patchy under your bright light is the accentuated contrast between the blush’s matte texture against the glow of your foundation. I have 3 shades of this new Gucci blush collection (I am fair neutral) and I find they each look best when applied as a wash of color (almost like water color) - similarly to the promo pics for the blush collection. Another factor to consider is that the Gucci bushes are talc-free, which is a major difference with the Kevyn Aucoin neo-blushes. Love the look you created - especially that Isamaya eye look!/Thanks again for the review.

@@KirstyJonesLouise I have shades 1, 4 and 5 - if I had to choose only one shade, it would be 1 because it looks most natural on me and it looks nice on lids. Shade 5 looks great on lids - but it can look muddy on my cheeks, so I brighten it up with shade 1 -on the top part of my cheeks. Shade 4 is a sheer coral - it is a bit warm for my skin tone - it’s a very common blush tone. PS: The type of brush used makes a big difference - I tried about 8 different natural and synthetic brushes and the one that works best with these blushes is the Saie blush brush.

I have the shade 01, and I find it goes patchy on me if I don’t powder my cheeks really really well. I can build it up 2 layers, but I have to remember to stop there because I think the color deepens over time on me. And it can go clown cheeks. Also I feel that it needs a bronzer to “buff” the edges, and I don’t always wear a bronzer on my fair/light skin.

I was drooling over these blushes when I first saw the images online but I’m so glad you posted this review! I was also hoping this shade was going to be paler and more neutral but I’m glad it isn’t because I no longer want it 😂 I have 2 of the Tom Ford powder blush duos and I truly believe they’re the best on the market so that’s been helpful when thinking about purchasing new blushes. I also bought the Gucci face powder last year because the lightest shade is perfect for me BUT it is so strongly scented that I’m unable to use it! It burns my skin wherever I’ve applied it and if I leave it on my face it starts itching ☹️unfortunately I think I’m done with Gucci complexion products for good because why would I want to apply something that quite literally feels like a solid perfume?! Sensitive skin peeps beware lol

I really appreciate that Gucci is being more inclusive with blushes intended for deeper skin tones, but I am sad that there isn’t a color in these tones for fair complexions though! Also, super random comment, but j have to say that with your hairstyle, which looks great on you, and your blush placement you always remind me of Kimber from the 80s Jem and the Holograms cartoon! 😂 To be clear, that’s a compliment, I wanted to be them!

I have been looking at this blush and this shade, but if I’m being honest it’s because I love looking at the packaging. Dust the neo bronzer’s lighter shade on your cheeks first to give the gucci one a surface to glide on. This is what i do with darker shades of blush (usually dusting hourglass dim light on, which is my equivalent of the neo bronzer on my skin). Edit: literally suggested this a second before you did it on camera 😂 for what its worth, i think it’s a gorgeous blush on you!

I feel like the packaging is kind of.. kitschy? The beige and gold tones of the compact are beautiful, but the stars cheapen it for me. On top of that, the little clasp nubbins make it look like it's leaking silly putty.

So I saw Battybean talk about a pinky bronzer from Give me glow cosmetics and I'm wondering if one of the shades could be your "old gum". Some of the shades are different from regular bronzers. Maybe "Ocean drive" or "sunburn" could be your old gum??? Can't say for sure since I don't own them personally but I wanted to throw this out into the universe to you. Lol

I think your perfect "old gum" shade in powder form is one that was limited edition from MAC several years ago, called Next to Skin. Back then I bought it to use as a contour, as I thought it'd be good for that on my own pale skintone, which it was and is! I got quite a bit of use out of it for a long time. Recently I got it out to use as a neutral blush and it made me think of you and your search for an "old gum" blush shade. Oooh, random thought: Have you ever tried your beloved Gucci lipstick in Lorna Dune as a "old gum" cream blush?

Ugh, I feel that with almost everything from Gucci, and it's terrible. I don't care about the eyeshadows, as an example, but those pink and black palettes are freaking everything. I'm trying to really dig into what I love about the aesthetic and find other ways to incorporate that into my decor, but I agree- they really have the packaging dialed in perfectly over there.

I would never buy this blush but your review brings up an excellent point for other products - being - does this look good under the *perfect* circumstances, or does this look good *in real life* . Because in real life you move through different lighting situations constantly, and you might be in harsh overhead cool lighting, sunlight, beauty lights and then restaurant lighting all in one day. So if you rely only on looking good according to sephora's lights when you test it, or under the *perfect* lighting in your home, then you may still be disappointed when you go about your day, or look back on photos.

I really dislike purple makeup. I ordered this blush surprised at how purple it looked in the pan and was a bit worried. Makeup tends to pull purple on my warm skin tone anyway. I was more shocked it didn’t look purple at all on me! Just a very natural warm blush, like my natural starting to get a sunburn color.

Your hair is so good in this whole video! I'm sorry you're having misgivings about the blush. It looks pretty enough, but does have a curious "Tin-Man" effect for a blush advertised as "Matte." I have similar feelings about the weird "nubs" on the compact. They sort of ruin the aesthetic appeal, don't they? I hope that maybe another color will work better for you!

I wonder if you are willing to try the Romand See Through Melting Blush in #01 Melting Beige. It’s a K-beauty cream blush (with a cushion included, of course!) in a light caramel shade. I got it off of YesStyle, and it is too light and dewy for my oily light-medium skin, but it might work well for you! It’s almost my exact skin tone, so it basically shows up like a slight dark dewy concealer on me. It is a little bit too orange for a “old gum” shade, but it might be light enough!

The old bronzer was rubbish, but the newer ones are AMAZING (and the fairest shade is believably red-toned, which is a miracle on my super fair, cool skin, as all other bronzers are orange or yellow).
