Y'all covered some ground here, and I'd like to put my own thoughts on the table for a lot of it. But something Guenther just stated is a point I had arrived at after hearing some other commentary about the race, and that is the placement of the gravel straps relative to the race course. Why give enough width to the curb to allow violations without actually encountering the gravel pit? As Guenther stated, at this track make the gravel pits close enough to the race course to provide the drivers the visual clue of just how far they can drift from the course.

The questions these guys asked clearly show they come from a narrative. In their mind they've concluded all there is to f1. I get weary of auch narratives. If Lando himself said that after cooling down the reaction was over the top but there was little contact. Good thing Guenther pushes back.

After the collision I don't believe for a second Max intentionally tried to push Lando onto the grass. They both ran wide in turn 3 and Max new he had a puncture, so when he rejoined the track out of the turn he moved over to the right hand side of the track to get off the racing line in a crippled car (as he should) because there were other cars coming up behind them at full racing speed. I think it was just unfortunate that Lando at that exact moment made a move to pass him on the right hand side as well.

Guenther thinking like a winner and an F1 fan. I don't want to see boring races with no controversy. If there would be no controversy in football, who would watch football, let alone pay millions in salaries the sport can only afford because of the amount of fans they've got. So much drama about an incident, some people might die until the end of the season because the seriousness people that are not affected at all bring to a slammer is concerning. Fresh tires will easily gain you 3-4 seconds within the first 2 laps and afterwards they fall off a lot and likely are just 2-3 10th faster. And its not like every Mclaren pitstop that race was a

Brian and Matt never drove competitivley in their life. This brit hype make me sick. See Austria 2023 with Sainz defending to Max in the same corner after first pit stop. Max avoided the collision as Sainz push him wide (more than what Max did last week)and than took the interior and did a clean overtake. Even in a normal car you have to steer while applying the brakes. Is up to driver to define the steer line. This is the most nonsense discussion I've heared for a long time now. Lando and Stella need to stop whinging and focus on driving...
@MrHvleeuwen4 ай бұрын
You can also steer in/turn the wheel before applying the brakes, or like turn the car slightly before braking. This will make you brake in a straight line while still moving to the left of the track (for example).

isn't the moving under braking rule gone? now it's something about driving "erratically" among other things, i think
@f.kieranfinney4574 ай бұрын
Trail braking is essential to motor racing. And that’s literally ‘moving under braking’. What the rule is referring is initial straight line braking. But then the brake is feathered slowly off while steering and even while accelerating. So when Gunther says ‘but when’ he is articulating how difficult it is to pick the precise moment for each driver when the feathering is feathering and not just loss of traction and recovery. Does Max feather less and therefore move sooner? Or later? We know he moves just BEFORE braking, when others are braking but he isn’t. That’s allowed by the rules. So what’s being suggested is all drivers brake in the same way. So how do they create an advantage and pass? Stroll clearly moves while under the initial hard press phase. While Alonzo moves before he applies the brake and also while trail braking. Should he face the same penalty as Stroll? Charles can anticipate Max’s move and use it to gain advantage. Lando cannot. Yet. Should Lando gain an advantage by penalizing Max because Lando is less competent?why are we only talking about Max and not Ocon, Alonzo, Lewis, K-Mag, Sainz and Russell? They all run their rivals wide. So how DO you regulate braking? Because then you’re regulating driving and then it’s a video game.
@Bobby114 ай бұрын
If the FIA gave Lando the oenalty sooner.. it may have changed the race.. but it felt like the FIA deliberately waited to see.if they could use it to create more drama with it.

Moving under breaking isn't a rule. It implemented in 2016 and done away with in 2017 after driver and team complaints. They adopted a more vague erratic/dangerous driving rule so stewards could look at each incident separately. So unless, the move under braking is determined to be dangerous and erratic, its not against the rules.

@TheRedFlagsPod guys are funny and endearing, and I know they’re new fans. But damn, to have this access and really not understand the sport is a little frustrating. “Why don’t you know tire deg”..Well.....As simple as i can say while explaining somewhat (since Gunther didn't want to put you to sleep and ruin the interview)... they have 6 different slicks of which 3 are available not including inters and wets. Track and weather conditions make a huge impact. So you’re balancing the tires available, your drivers style, where you’re aiming in your race game plan, the track, and the tires available. All of these factors make a huge but variable impact on the others factors. As far as in season upgrades- I can't even begin to explain my limited knowledge. Google some articles and watch some videos. Again I know you're new fans with probably a new fan base, but you guys have so much potential and already have crazy connections so it's time to start growing at the same pace as the pod boys.

I wouldn't expect anything less from Max either. I mean if you take a closer look at the best champions in any sport, they all have killer instincts. As much as I don't like George Whatshisname, he has that attitude.. Carlos Saintz and Charles Leclerc has it too. Heck, Lewis Hamilton never lost it, and as Guenther mentioned, Alonzo will always be Alonzo. A lot of F1 greats aren't exactly saints, they're ruthless! If they can get away from whatever it takes, then good on them. Go over the list of F1 champions, none of them are champions because they were nice. They're built different..
