I started university in 1990. Which is when I started wearing Samsara. The number of times men asked if they could just smell my neck I couldn’t count. Samsara made me beautiful and sexy for a cool decade. I always have a bottle and just sprayed my wrist. It’s seeing Nirvana live. Being a lingering goth and studying philosophy and medieval history. And Sex. So much. And also learning to vogue. Ah Samsara is all the good memories.

What a coincidence Dacob! I just tried this on today, the newer edp. I am considering selling my current formulation. It falls flat on me. The older one, the edt in the same all red bottle, is more dynamic, luxurious, mysterious, gorgeous on me. If you want to trade, let me know! Love you and your videos. I love Samsara Dacob, I have the original( was lucky I got one before they dissapeared). It's such a presence on me,I save it for cold winter evenings, and dose it carefully as it can be a headache inducer for lil ol sensitive me. I get a lot of powdery Sandalwood, and I love that. I like the edt in the bee bottle more than the old version, because it's softer, really melting on my skin. Like most things in life, a matter of taste.

You're not alone. The old red bottle Samsara was too much for me, and I'm no stranger to strong perfumes. My bee bottle EdT is perfect, and I'll be trying out the EdP next.

I love Samsara EdP and EdT the First version in the clear glass bottle 1989. Back then also the bathgel and body cream were to die for 😍

I have an old ooooold version (1998/1999) the thing is, it is almost vanished and i recently bought the bee version and i really and absolutely adore it, Samsara is a work of art to me…i smell it for the forst time when i was 14 and I’m 43 now…still love it ❤❤❤❤ masterpiece

The clear glass EDT with the gold cap is magnificent. I'd be happy to send you a sample as a gift if you'd like to experience it. I enjoy both of the versions you featured, Guerlain is really good at modernizing and yet still honoring the classics. I'm sure it's a thankless job, and difficult with particular customers and LVMH oversight.

The original SAMSARA, AMARIGE, BEVERLY HILLS, WHITE DIAMOND, PARIS YSL, TRÉSOR, CARTIER , ANAÏS ANAÏS, CHLOÉ De Narcisse, etc... where among the perfumes my mother whore when I was little girl, now I have them ans once in a while I spray them and they take me back to my childhood the happy days...I love your review.

I agree with most of what you said. I have to disagree on your assumption that the bee bottle EdP is the EdT of the earlier version, though. The EdP has always been creamier and more powdery, softer in its accords than the EdT. The EdT has always been a bit more pungent in the opening, greener, and of course the lasting power and sillage of the EdP have always been stronger. Another thing I have to disagree on is that there's a plastic smell. I don't get that at all in neither formulation. Maybe where you live they scent plastic? I don't know! xD

I swear if I hear one more young man or young lady describe a perfume as "old lady" or "grandma-ish" - I'm going to scream! Even middle aged folks do it! What were they raised by wolves or what because you said it - it's downright disrespectful! Btw - back to perfume - I just found and snapped up a debut, 1989 original splash bottle - of Samsara. I'm jumping for joy - simply can't wait to get my "old lady" nose on it!!! 😅

I'm so glad (and I do feel very privileged) that my very first sniffs of Samsara were of the original. Now, I kinda wanna try the red bottles...just for comparison...yikes and jeez...how did I become such a big fraghead in so little time?...😅

Samsara always had Polysantol. The substitution was Australian sandalwood for Mysore.

Aww I miss the old days women dressed even if in just jeans we looked style because the jeans and shirts , hair and scents were just stylish. Pleated yoke front jeans looked classy a few jewel toned bedazzled embellishments on a jacket and flat “skimmer” shoes .
