Refugees are supposed to be civilians. But as you can see, some of those guys are militarized and even have tanks. Since international aid does not finance weapon, it becomes obvious to say this is a seperatist milicia financed by Algerian military junta since cold war times, which is the big elephant in the room Vice missed to mention.

Algeria is heavy supporter of Sahrawis, because of Morocan - Algerian border tensions. Weapons are smugled through Sahrawis refugee camps in Algeria. But other than that, the situation in muslim world is very confusing so it wouldnt be any surprise if for example (for various reasons) Saudi Arabia or Iran supported Sahrawis. Western countries (especially France and USA) usually stand on the Moroccan side in this conflict. Sory for my shity eastern european english :-)

My angle on this is if it were the case of who's got the bigger gun ?! those few worn out tanks and maybe few thousand soldiers wouldn't stand a chance against the morrocan army, but that would suppose that indeed it is a case of war as illustrated in the title. As it seems, a couple of generals have got hold of some toys and are using the people to advance their own greeds, making arm deals with algeria and so on while neglecting the real problems which are to establish proper living conditions for the poeple of the area. and they think by that they can provoke morocco into a war after losing all diplomatic grounds while enchanting their own version of the truth about human right violations in western sahara, needless to state how famous polisario is for its humanitarianism.

UN mission to Sahara's findings from 1975 "Owing to the large measure of cooperation which it received from the Spanish authorities, the Mission was able, despite the shortness of its stay in the Territory, to visit virtually all the main population centers and to ascertain the views of the ovverwhelming majority of their inhabitants. At every place visited, the Mission was met by mass political demonstrations and had numerous private meetings with representatives of every section of the Saharan community. From all these, it became evident to the Mission that there was an overwhelming consensus among Saharans within the Territory in favour of independence and opposing integration with any neighbouring country " en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1975_United_Nations_visiting_mission_to_Spanish_Sahara#Moroccan_Sahara

why do people live in these deserts, isn't it hard to get water and you can't grow crops?
@JonSilverhand
@JonSilverhand 10 жыл бұрын
There are the occasional wells there to get water for their crops and I'm sure they use irrigation which is common when growing crops in desert like areas. And people can't just move out of their country and go somewhere else, where will they go? For most people living there, this is their life.

@nilesrock024
@nilesrock024 10 жыл бұрын
Little Breez-E According to Wikipedia, Western Sahara lacks the necessary water/rainfall for most agricultural endeavors; so, frankly, all this talk of wells and irrigation is nonsense - it *is* very hard to get water, and they generally cannot grow crops (esp. not these people, who are largely cut off from Moroccan resources). Most of their food/water comes from outside sources, specifically Morocco, on which the territory is a major economic burden (Morocco having offered huge - nearly $1 billion USD - subsidies to the regions they control just to keep it functioning). Best part? "The territory is otherwise thought to be economically unviable and unable to support its population without the Moroccan subsidies." Their economy - if you can even call it that - is based almost entirely on fishing and phosphate mining, with some theorized potential for offshore gas/oil recovery (which thus far appears unprofitable to recover). In short, even if Morocco gave up control, Western Sahara could not support its population - they're demanding independence without the capacity to support themselves once independent. So, point being, why do they live in this desert? Because they're stubborn, foolish tribal desert-folk, and rather than move on to greener pastures - of which there are many they could theoretically gain access to, as individuals at least if not as a people - they prefer to hide in their shitty lil spit of desert, waiting to fight an utterly pointless war over land that has little-to-no real value, which they will almost-certainly lose handily. Correction: Which they already lost handily.

First of all, when there is 50 degrees outside and your body temperature is just 36 degrees, you want to keep that heat away from your body... that's why the traditional arab clothing is not shorts and shirt but something covering the whole body... the real question is why are they wearing black?!? +They might have shot the video during the winter when the weather is actually quite nice...
