Great battle report and thanks for bringing this wonderful game to all of us Ash. Been facing off against Averlanders myself lately, and was forced to sacrifice one lone orc boy into a series of Bergjaeger traps just to get into hand-to-hand combat with them. Jordan your warband looks great! Always fun to see you two face off against each other. I hope that Jordan gives proud and justified names to the sniper Halfling and his now “mad” Captain.

Great to see some Mordheim back. Been playing a fair bit the last few months with my greenskins. Never played either of these warbands so I shall live vicariously through you guys. p.s. Cloud of Flies only affects melee attacks.

Just grabbed the Mordheim rules last night. Always thought about getting into the game, but never did. Plan on using some of my Reaper Miniatures to make an Undead warband and a Skaven warband. Now all I need are some fantasy themed terrain (alas all I have at present is sci-fi and post apocalyptic). Where did you get the battle mat? That would work great for Frostgrave as well.

Awesome game! thank you for calling out the needed rolls as I always forget them and have to check the tables, this makes the game super slow and grinding. It would be nice if you could share where to find some parts of the terrain since it looks awesome with the number of details, structures, and walls you have in there. Compared to yours, our map looks dull and boring :)

We love Mordheim! Nice warbands, great Carnival conversions. I have only even used the optional critical tables by weapon type, have you? Do you not use them because they slow the game down and the original critical table is easy to memorize, or because you find them unbalanced. Or maybe some other reason.

From Rotten Miniatures, it's worth looking up if you're a bit of a nurgling. * It's Not a lot of tiers and progressive bonuses the more you spend, as per most larger productions. Sure, the rules can easily be found online. On the Broheim.net page for example. The exclusive miniatures are no longer produced sadly. But most of the Mordheim factions used existing Warhammer-Fantasy models anyway. Still, in my opinion, kitbashing a warband is half the fun, just gotta find a mate or two to join you.

That Carnival warband is all kitbashsed. Most human mercenary warbands can easily be represented with Freeguild models, because they are literally the old Empire models. The current Skaven Night Runner models are actually the original Skaven warband. The hardest are Witch Hunters and Sisters of Sigmar, because they don't have easy alternatives for most of their models.

@@DatcleanMochaJo It all depends on you preferences: Mordheim is played usualy with about a dozen miniatures per side, but with a lot of terrain and has a distinctive skirmisher-style: lots of one on one fights, secondary goals, and rpg-elements in the after game phase, that add a lot of character. AoS is more about considerably bigger army units clashing, allowing to build up a bigger collection and see actual play in tournaments and official GW-stores (compared to your local hobby store). It only does one thing but that really well. Ash has some nice AoS content as well, if you want to give it a look. In my experience, passion for a game usualy outweights complexity, maybe just see what you like and try it out (as far as that's possible atm).

Debatable, and almost certainly too broad a statement. The ghostly stuff for Night Haunts is almost universally much better than any of the ethereal undead from the WFB days, for ex. There are plenty of really, really ugly and stupid sculpts in AoS but there are some real dogs in the WFB range too, and it's too sweeping to claim either is universally superior to the other.
