I had some old batteries from an UPS and I thought I could make a game out of them....

Maybe you should have connected the camera to #4 UPS battery. 🤣

Then it wouldn't've lasted as long!

Did a similar test, just used some cheap LED angel eyes, removed from some automotive lamps I was modifying, and connected to a 12V 7Ah SLA that was known to be dead, as it could not deliver more than 2A under load, but was otherwise at 12V. took it 2 weeks before the LED, with the single 22R 0.5W resistor, started to have dies go out, and still it made it nearly a month before the entire array was no longer glowing even faintly. Big show of how good a LED is over incandescent, in that this battery would not even light a 20W halogen lamp at all, not even glowing dull red.

That's the problem with LEDs. You can't use them to "burn" electricity away. Also see my UPS testing video...

Short video without being a damn portrait short video. Love it!
@PlaywithJunk6 ай бұрын
Yeah I thought the time lapse woud make a longer video. Then it was not possible to convert it into a "shorts" format. So I thought.... meh! Why can't a normal video be short too?

@@PlaywithJunk Your new format, called a "Quicky" 😃

@@ChipGuy Is it Quicky or Quickie ? I like that name.... maybe I make more Quickys 🙂
@ChipGuy6 ай бұрын
@@PlaywithJunk I think I meant a Quickie. Quicky seems to be a liquor. I had no idea how that is supposed ot be spelled to be honest.
@PlaywithJunk6 ай бұрын
@@ChipGuy Since Quickie sounds a bit nasty when I'm playing with junk.... I'll call it Quicky. That's funnier 🙂

LOL! This looks like a familiar test! I think number 8 is cheating, looks like it's get a cell down, it starts off dimmer than the others, I bet that doesn't charge to much above 11 volts.

Some batteries are quite funny. Right before I started the camera, I had to replace Nr.3 because it was more or less dead. I put it to the side with a bulb connected.... only to see that it got stronger after an hour. Then it died finally.

Well I did not expect to have them beat the camera battery. Just goes to show that you can pick a winner in the 2:30 and he romps home in the 4:15 race.

I filmed with my iPhone and 3h20 is not bad. Considering how hot it gets while filming. Too bad the display can't be turned off. I had it plugged in with an USB power plug but I noticed the Lightning connector has a pin lost. Don't ask how... If I flip the connector, it works fine. So it was just bad luck.

Did you measure how close the lamps are in resistance? Maybe #4 is only 29W?
@PlaywithJunk6 ай бұрын
Ah... no! But since the lamps are connected randomly, I think it's still fair. Or it doesn't matter at all 🙂

Last week I played with junk. My car batterie turned out to be bad. Because of the cold wether the engine would not start. I parralleld 4 used 12v 7Ah UPS batteries and used them as a start help. Worked a treat. I was glad I had not yet got rid of them 😅
@PlaywithJunk6 ай бұрын
Those 7Ah batteries can supply 100 Amps easily for a short period of time. 4 in parallel should easily start a car engine. Some 1000W UPS's have only 4 of those batteries inside and they hold that power for 5 minutes. A car starter is also 500-1000W.... so, well done!

LOL nice way to test em I usually use my cheap chinese dummy load set it to 1A and let it roll any which don't have 3Ah in it can go, these lead acids btw can be used way over their ages. They should be replaced like in every 2 years, in some security systems they replacing em yearly I can easily use them for 4-6 years

My record battery was a 12V 60Ah from an UPS that was 10 years old when I got it. I put it in my car and drove with it for 6 more years. Then I replaced it because I thought it has an issue. Turned out it was something else. The new battery died after only one year.... The good battery was from Panasonic. They are really good it electro-chemistry. Capacitors from them are excellent too.

Hey, I got one for ya' Scary Scientific experiment carried out in USA, an attempt to open up a portal to another dimension, the co-ordinates guy got the latitude and longitude mixed up, instead of the Arctic it landed in a shopping mall in downtown Miami. (supposedly a true story)

At least he got the altitude right. Otherwise he might be ended in the earth's core. The story reminds me of a movie: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmTLaKuwappre7s
