I have a pixel 7 pro and I pretty much never use the NFC. It's such an unnecessary feature and is only really there as a slight convenience. People paying 200 for a phone won't mind bringing a few extra cards with them, especially with that wallet accessory.

It's a small sacrifice for the rest of the features you get. The chin of a phone display is surprisingly expensive to shrink down to be equivalent to the other bezels.

Its the same thing with Samsung phones as well. They should stop making ugly uneven displays, it makes no sense. When i see those besels, i just lose interest. I'm an Android (Samsung) user but i think this is what Apple would never do if they were to make a less expensive model.

The SE series is about $400 and they hide the bezels just by making the top and bottom bezel equally as huge rather than spending any money to shrink them. I can see your point about the bottom bezel but budget phones don't really have that luxury of having the extra expense of putting the technology required into the phone to shrink that bezel. Those bezels are kind of a crucial part otherwise you're gonna have to deal with a crappy display or something else as a compromise to even bezels

Apple is lazy when it comes to such things like the calculator app on ipad took forever to build, now it comes with AI built in. So if they were to put an effort and make an affordable phone Apple would never make a phone with an uneven display. Their phones always have that premium look. I wish such companies wouldnt downgrade their phones displays just to make it more affordable. I think aesthetic is also a huge thing to draw attention of the customers, to make them buy their products. I'd always rather buy a flagship but if i were to buy a more affordable phone, i'd go for models like the first Nothing phone. It still costs less but at least when i look at my phone's display, it wont trigger my symmetry ocd😂
