As an Argentinian, now living in Madrid, I thought I knew traditional Spanish food, but when I moved to Madrid, I realised that this was not the case and that Spanish food is as wide and perhaps even better than Italian or French food. The difference is that since there are many descendants of Italian and French immigrants (and not so many Spaniards) in the USA, these cuisines enjoy a greater diffusion through the media and American movies and series. But it is good that you are able to discover and appreciate Spanish cuisine. I think it is the best in the world.

MESON is not a "museum", it is kind of traditional restaurant. The name comes from french "maison", and it means "house". So it is like a name for the ancient taberns or houses where travellers could stop, have a rest and eat something. In Spain, you find the more frequently in northern Spain.

@@astartes1213 I think that they all have a common origin, from latin of course. My thoughts about the relation with french are because in spanish we have other words completly different for house, while "mansion" refers to a huge house for rich people. For adding a little bit of history to the “bocata de calamares”, in case anyone had thought why fish is in a typical dish of a place with no sea. When they were fished in the shore and shipped to madrid, which is in the center of Spain, they weren’t already fresh anymore, so for making it harder for everyone to notice it, they would batter and fry them. Still me being from the south I cannot avoid getting somewhat upset that the concept of tapas people outside get is just the one of these some sort of tapas restaurants. Tapas in 99.99% of places in the south, is a ration just like the ones you`ve seen but those 2 euros or even less in some places is for the beer AND the tapa together, that`s the bar culture at least in the south, you go to drink beer and eat at the same time in equal measure 😁Madrid and Barcelona sure have their charms, but me being the Granada, Malaga and Cadiz lover that I am It just breaks my heart that much attention in the same suspects everytime. Nice video!! Enjoy Spain!! By the way, the girl who was telling you 'no more no more' at minute 4:52 is normal for her to tell you, you have spoiled the cider, you only have to hold it once and drink the little that is already in the glass, without giving it again, it is drunk sip by sip, but the process of ''encanciar'' is useless.

Hey Guga, thanks for your great videos. After watching your videos, I have three requests for future videos: - Please try some other cattle breeds than wagyu and American beef. - How do you clean all your pans and other cooking ustensils so they continue to be so shiny ? - Please cook a foie gras in a terrine using sous vide. And yes I'll repeat those requests often. ;)

Being a meat lover yourself, the next time you come to Spain you have to go to "El Capricho" in León. It's said to be one of the best places in the world (some say the best) to eat meat.

I like how he presents some restaurant-specific stuff like "regalito de toro" as some universal dish from Spanish cuisine, while it's literally something invented by that restaurant and which no one here ever ate... ... And then he goes to have dinner at an Asturian restaurant and spends half the video eating solely Asturian food, which super-specific to that region, lmao. That's Spanish food, people!

Bro es un video de menos de 10min de un guiri comiendo, no va a comerse todos los platos típicos ni va a ser el 739292 que coma paella y tortilla. Aparte el rabo de toro no es específico, la tapa sí.

Dude, you should go to France! They are the kings of modern western cooking. They take their salt and butter very seriously and judging from your videos, that should be right up your alley. 😊 And you did not taste bread until you’ve gone to a french boulangerie. Its really special. You could take the opportunity to team up with fellow food youtuber Alex for a collab. Im sure he’d love to learn about your steakmaking techniques. Im not french myself but credit where credit is due.

@@tasorodri it changes in fact XD, that's the reason that exist that machines called "escanciadores", cause that's not the same drink it in little sips with oxygen inside or larger sips without oxygen. Think about beer, is it the same when it is cold than when it is hot?

As other Spaniards commented, a lot of food is very "region-specific" so one needs to go to restaurants where they serve their food. Madrid has the perk of having tons of variety, so it's viable to find restaurants of all kinds in one metropolis, if you know how to search. Galicias, Asturias-León, País Vasco, Aragón, Cataluña, Comunidad Valenciana, Murcia, Andalucía, Castilla, Extremadura, Canarias... All have their own specific foods that are rarely found on average, outside of some which became popular state-wide (paella, gazpacho, cocido) during periods of political centralism.

As a spanish, I like you enjoyed Spain. Just want to let you know the spanish food is way more than that. You just tried some "tapas", and not the best, in my opinion. Knowing what kind of food you like, you have to try some different meats properly cooked, like the galician cow, the asturian cow or the retinta cow. Best places to try spanish meat are in the north of Spain, but you can find very good ones in all the country. Very different to wagyu, but still very tasty if you know how to cook it. Talking about meats, you should try our lamb (paletilla de cordero al horno de leña), or the "lechón" (little pork). That is incrdeible. In the other hand, fish and seafood. You can find the best seafood here in Spain. Usually you will find that prawns are smaller than in the United States, but very more tasty. If you can, try "gamba de Huelva", "langostino de Sanlucar", "gamba roja de Palamós". I can't talk about different fish, there are plenty of them, but man, I know your channel, I know what you like, please give a chance to the "wild red tuna" the one that is fished in the Strait (of Gibraltar), there in Cadiz. You will be amazed, try these cuts "morrillo", "ventresca" and "tarantelo", they are so tasty and fatty that you will think you are having meat. And, hey, I know you like cheese too, but I think I should stop 😅

as a spanish guy I've to say that you tried the typical tourist places. you should try to travel to other places of spain and not just going to the capital, normally is better to go to places like Valencia, Asturias, Murcia. and those places for the food apart from other stuff, and also, one thing that you have to know if you go to spain to eat is that. "the capital has good food, but compared to the rest of the country, is the worst food"
@Bajamamut Жыл бұрын
Probably those churros and porras are fried in sunflower oil or another class of vegetable oil which may be cheaper than olive oil, though olive oil is widely used all over Spain. We also export much of our olive oil to other countries, including Italy, where it is said to be rebottled as italian oil and exported to the US. Another "typical thing",so to speak, is the way paper napkins are presented in many of our bars and restaurants, with a message that says 'Gracias por su visita' (Thank you for your visit)

Just a couple of notes.... Churros can be fried in olive or sunflower oil. And the "Salsa Brava" can be made with tomato, or without tomato... (I prefer the one that is not tomato based)
