@FishingPAwithRyanRead5 жыл бұрын
Thank you I appreciate the feedback! August is a tough month to fish , allot of the bigger fish move deep and suspend, all three of those species will be in deep water , are you in a boat or from shore?
@anthonygregorio22085 жыл бұрын
@@FishingPAwithRyanReadThank you for getting back to me. Ill have access to a boat so getting to deep water is no problem. I just want to have an idea of what rod and reel setups to bring along with a variety of lures you'd recommend. I did have another question too but it's about trout fishing. Are there any streams, brooks, or creeks near the lake that hold trout I can do some fly fishing in?
@FishingPAwithRyanRead5 жыл бұрын
Anthony Gregorio , here’s my thoughts on finding fish this time of year , simply put , find the bait fish, you find the gamefish like bass and walleye. You can catch some smaller panfish and bass beating the shorelines but I prefer deep water trolling or dell water vertical jigging with live bait. I also like to find areas to wind drift crawler harnesses. So I would use medium spinning outfits for that style of fishing. As far as trout goes , I would look at Wallenpaupack creek , there may be some nice browns in there but they usually filter in for spawning in the fall , that lake has great population of trophy browns.

Can I ask what part of PA do you live or do you live in PA? Have you ever fished the "Pack"? What areas did you have the most success? Good informational video.
@FishingPAwithRyanRead5 жыл бұрын
Angler Atlarge , Yes sir, born and raised in Westmoreland county in western pa. I do not spend allot of time out east because of the distance , but I have visited Wallenpaupack. I tend to stick with what I know throughout any lake and adjust from there , the foundational things that we know about fish should apply across the board at most of our lakes, an example is catching walleye at night early in the year in shallow water trolling stickbaits. As far as the pack , I have always heard the general rule of thumb is stay north around Hawley and Wilsonville for walleye , smallies and strippers. South end holds allot more panfish and largemouth. Personally thinking, the game fish follow the bait fish , I usually go with what I know certain fish like walleye want and need at certain times of the year and look for areas that match to start fishing. It doesn’t always work out for me , but you have those days and at the very least learned something new!
@machmudahabalhajad45144 жыл бұрын
It’s very interesting that you have a hotspot in the cove by Cairns Island. I’m a local, and most people around call that party island / party cove. It gets a LOT of boat/swimmer activity in the summer, so I am wondering whether that might make the hotspot season dependent or if the fish don’t really mind. Anyway, great video!
@FishingPAwithRyanRead4 жыл бұрын
The hot spots are subject to change for the time of year , weed growth etc... but yeah same deal with other lakes. More of a generalized guide , still gotta fish to find fish ...

Can you please elaborate on the muskies
@FishingPAwithRyanRead5 жыл бұрын
It’s tough to elaborate honestly. You gotta understand the fish to understand where they go in the summer. They like to find that deeper water and suspend, in the spring they are up shallow going through the spawning ritual , in the fall they come back in shallow chasing baitfish trying to fatten up. In the summer they stay shallow early and move deep during the day, trolling around finding baitfish and continuing to troll baitfish will eventually work. You just gotta commit and stay in the same areas where there’s bait. Match your lures up with where the bait is in the water column. If they baits 10 feet down in 45 feet of water , run your baits back fat enough to get them down to 10 feet. Otherwise you gotta fish hard to find them and stay in the same areas with bait and hit that feeding window.
@j_berg725 жыл бұрын
@@FishingPAwithRyanRead I understand the fish. What i should have said was are they still stocking the lake with them. Most reports I read say the last stocking for the muskies in there was in the 70's? They stopped stocking them to concentrate on the hybrids to be the primary predator.
@FishingPAwithRyanRead5 жыл бұрын

Ryan, I don't appreciate you using an image of me holding the striper from a youtube video that I made for my channel. Please don't do this in future videos!

I am so sorry, i didn’t mean to offend you or to steal anything from you, I grabbed a photo from a google search to show actual fish caught in PA. I’ll edit the video tomorrow and remove that section of video.
