I hope not! I don't think so though, she's been in there for a bit now and would have had it fully tested awhile back. Sort of like the raptor scene in Jurassic Park :) They are relatives after all... However, I don't believe she would understand what 'escape' was exactly and ravens are famously neophobic. Going 'out there' would be mind blowingly terrifying to a corvid species... at first. She has to examine everything to feel confident.

In Greek mythology a Raven is a symbol of bad luck, the messengers of the Gods! But I can see she brings you nothing by happiness and good luck. She is a very handsome girl.

Ravens are also responsible for the creation of the universe throughout many different cultures.

Also in Norse mythology, Odin kind of had a thing for Ravens too. I think they're also associated with witchcraft/magic, but I'm not 100% sure about that. I personally choose to believe they are though. Also in nature, Ravens can be seen hanging out with wolves, so that's pretty cool.

we have a young crow around here. every morning he sits outside on the porch handrail watching in the window. and ever so gently taps the glass so we for sure know he is there. wanting a snack of course. and when we are outside working in the yard he often hangs around near us. thinks he just wants the company. mom was folding a tarp one day. then he bit on it and started to pull on the tarp as well. could look like was trying to help hehe.

I would think about what predators may be around at night. I had a crow get mailed by a raccoon who reach his paws through the bars of the crow's cage and almost killed the birdy. Blood, feathers and pieces of beak all over the place. Luckily I noticed and was only away for literally a minute. So the crow has been recovering and the beak slowly growing back. Beautiful raven BTW!!!

She is! There are actually quite a lot of different corvids that have white or grey on them in various shades and places. I'll go over it more in the next video.

To think about animals held in cages away from their natural habitat usually makes me sad but seeing your videos helps to alleviate some of that. All your animals seem so happy. It's truly an amazing gift you have being able to do what you do and communicate with animals like you do. It would be awesome if you could somehow train her to fly on her own and come back like some people do with falcons and other birds. You could strap a go pro to her somehow and we could get a literal bird's eye view of everything. Good job with the aviary I'm excited to see how it develops and who else you add to the family. Kudos!

No, both ostriches have passed. Mormor died from a genetic defect she had since birth and Sexy Sexy Sniper ran into a fence in the middle of the night, after something startled her. I would like to raise some more ostrich chicks, but with winter coming-- it will probably not be this year.

I now have a pet crow I really didn’t want to keep because she obviously is a wild bird but she has white feather and won’t survive outside she is so happy and she really loved and looked after I won’t part with her if I did she would get out to sleep or die she demanding during the day and very well behaved at night she will be outside as much as possible and will live outside when older I do work with vets she is fine ❤️❤️❤️

Because my living situation changed and I had people coming to live with my with no experience with Lorne or wild canines in any sense-- I did not feel the situation was best or safe for my friends or for Lorne. He has moved on to another program at a sanctuary. I never did know if I was going to keep him after his training. I did my work bringing him up as an animal ambassador and I consider him a success in every way. I do miss him terribly though. I visited him a few times, but have since decided to stop doing it. I wouldn't want to confuse or tear him between two different worlds. He's quite happy where he is and he doesn't mope around or miss me, like I miss him-- unless I see him and rekindle that memory. Hopefully more people see this post and it puts their minds at ease that nothing bad happened to Lorne and he is happy, healthy and I feel satisfied having done by part in bringing him up well-socialized for nearly four years. I may do a video explaining more in depth my decision in the future. Because I get this question asked dozens of times every day. But I have just gotten my channel kicking again after a long period of almost a year of very scattered videos and barely posting. I didn't want to start out by dwelling in the past...

Today I went to the park and fed the crows some chicken liver. At first they were a little suspicious but they quickly realised I was a bird-friend. However one thing kind of unsettled me. I was trying to play around with these birds as I noticed they were definitely tracking me, so I placed some liver on the grass and put dried patches on top of it and pretended to lay liver behind patches of grass while I wasn't. I thought the poor suckers would wait a bit and sneakily head for the liver, but when they didn't I was surprised. Were they not keeping track of me after all? Did they not realise or understand that I still had a plastic with liver? Then I thought about it further and realised the individual crows might be happy that it's hidden and leave it till later when the feeding frenzy had calmed down to retrieve their treat, showing an understanding of the reasoning of other crows or by some twisted way they might not want me to detect them stealing my 'hidden' treats as not to upset me and cause the liver treats to stop coming. In any case, I left the park very puzzled at how these birds are completely and utterly unreadable.

I think she would probably stay near me. Corvids are very afraid and untrusting of new things. Since she has never been 'in the wild' it would be very dangerous to suddenly expose to her elements she has no understanding of. She would likely find herself in a situation that would cause serious injury or death.

I love Corvids, but I would not seek keep one as a pet. My cat is a challenge, and trying to keep something smarter as a pet seems foolish.

The old-timers in Maine. Tell me if you can find a baby Raven. That's better than gold. They just bring them up in the barn. Take really good care of them but they have a leash on their foot so they can't believe it. And it's some point they undo it but they just keep coming back and they protected. I guess the best Watchdog if you get attacked by a rave in the middle of the night. Way trying to steal something. You telling me that wouldn't freak you the hell out and make you run the other way. I would like to do free flight with her. As you would in falconry. But ravens do not have the drive for prey that raptors have, so it's going to take some time and comes with it lots of risks. Though freedom always does.
