Well in mythology they usually arent. In Norse mythology for example Odin had his 2 Ravens Huginn and Muninn who were is eyes an messengers, among other things. At the Tower of London they keep Ravens because there is that believe, that the crown and Britain will fall, if they are ever gone. Also Ravens are often associated with death in a sense, that they guide the souls of the dead to the afterlife.

We had a pet raven as a kid.. free flyer also.. until one day they didn't come home.. but its what we wanted... they were a runt of a litter, my mom rescued them and we all helped raise them. Nothing cooler than having a raven follow you to the store, rather than a dog!

I've read that corvids, escpecially ravens, are known to hold grudges towards people who've wronged them for years on end (even teaching their offspring about it) and act aggressively/attack those whom they hate, so to see Loki forgive humans is truly amazing, I think it shows the intelligence these birds have❤️❤️

It’s nice to see people allowing their birds to free fly, as there are a lot of benefits to it. They get exercise, meaning they are slightly less destructive than usual. This also means in the off chance that the bird escapes, it is fully aware of how to get back home. Many bird owners will trim the wings, which doesn’t prevent the bird from flying, it only makes it more difficult to fly properly.

Wing clipping is a horrible thing to do.... disabling a bird :( Their respiratory system is made to work optimally during flight, so flight is essential for all but injured and infirm (and flightless!) birds, imho.

@@michelehemlokhexwhite4310 yeah I only agree with wing clipping if you're say raising birds like Morgan Gold of Gold Shaw Farms here on YT - he raises ducks, geese, chickens, and recently some cows, and he clips some flight feathers. It's not like they ever try to fly away anyway, if raised from egg domestically and have food and water sources they won't typically leave the flock lol, he does it "just incase" as they seldom fly anywhere, but he doesn't want to remove their ability to do so incase a muskrat gets passed his guard dogs or something, the birds still have some ability to fly away a short distance.

Yeah, its good with a lot of pets. Having a cat rhat will follow me around the block for walks is funny, and means I know he'll never get lost. Plus is sm better than staying inside all day and getting chunky

i always feel terrible, i want to free flight my bird but its just not safe where i live, i live kinda in a desert and there are MANY predatory birds out here that eat little birds all the time (hes a green cheek conure). hes out of his cage all the time (except bedtime), hes not clipped, and hes allowed in all areas of the house. i just wish i was able to free flight him, but i know its very unsafe :(.

Two visit me everyday. I can always spot them flying far away because one has a leg that sticks out even when flying. They watch me from a tree outside my windows. They are stoked for corn chips and other stuff I throw out in different directions so one can’t monopolize it and stack up a giant mouthful. Haha they are funny and smart. I know because they look me right in the eyes and some animals don’t focus that way.

I don't think any animal wants to be mean. And especially with domestic animals I still believe you can even take a very feral cat and love it into a gentle pet. Sir, you have the right technique there...

I think so too. “Mean” animals are usually just hurt and scared. Sometimes people don’t understand that it needs a lot of time and patience (and acceptance) until they become calmer around humans again (not tame or friendly, just calm, the rest comes later) they just want to force it to happen quickly. And even if their intentions are the absolute best, it ends up hurting the animal more, and maybe people get hurt in the process as well - and then the animal is being branded as “mean”. I managed to tame some wild kittens with patience too. I did it similarly how this man did, I just sat around in their presence minding my business, just to have them get used to my presence. I’d put some food nearby just in case they felt like eating a bit, and also left food out for a bit more after I left them alone to make sure they eat well, but also to associate my presence with food. That eventually became the key, and they’d come out of hiding curious and expectant when they heard me because they wanted food, and me = food. Eventually they’d realise that I mean no harm, and would actually run up to the plate and start eating as I was still in the process of putting out their food. Months went by and now they’re content sitting on my lap and getting pets, sleeping while I’m in the same room, playing with my stuff, and have zoomies all around the place. It’s an incredibly rewarding process. It’s awesome to look at these blurry pictures I took from them from very far away through a window, because at the time they’d still run away when they saw me, and then compare that to having to perform a whole ballet routine around them because they’re constantly under my feet and I’m trying hard not to step on anyone. It’s day and night. Being able to do that for an animal is an incredible experience.

Data & Statistics, time & time again show this basically is a Fact. With only certain exceptions. There are Tribes in Africa that have friendly Lions strolling around them, and they are not a threat to people in these areas. Why? It is because they are shown Love & Affection. Go to Russia. People have Bears as pets. Not only that a majority of "Wild" Bears are friendly Statistically Speaking. Why is this? It is conjectured that over the centuries the populous was overall friendly to these Creatures. Again showing Love & Affection. Therefore it can be common to see a bear walk up to people because it needs something like Food, Water, or possibly even medical attention as some examples. I can go on, and on, and on with so many examples/Data Points. Also I am glad you mentioned feral Cats. I have helped to domesticate so many feral Cats in my life, and save their lives. Doing so removes the threat of them being feral, and a danger overall. Once they are domesticated, and are given a proper home, it helps to remove the rampant feral Cat problem. To state the obvious the reason why is because they are not out there breeding without restraint. Statistically speaking simply spading and fixing feral Cats does really nothing to mitigate the overall problem. It is because they are still out there posing as a threat through their wild tendencies. Data shows fixed feral Cats actually causes feral Cats in an area to come together. So those who are not fixed will start to breed at a greater rate because of this. Again going back to the top the best solution is to show them Love & Affection, and to domesticate them. I recall one of the wildest feral Cats I came across was incredibly Violent. I had to wear thick clothing, and Gloves when I interacted with it. For a little over a Month straight I spent an hour a day with this animal. When I started interacting with the Cat initially it would charge at me, and attack me. Trying to Bite, and claw me. I simply would grab the Cat by one hand, and started petting it with the other. Well I could not do that for very long the first few days. The Cat would break free, and run from me. So i remained in the Cats presence for the Hour. As the Days went by the Cat stopped trying to Attack me. I would then go up to the Cat to pet it, and it would his, and try to fight me. Again I would grab the Cat with one hand, and start petting it with the other. As the weeks went by the Cat became more, and more docile. Eventually the Cat finally started to come up to me wanting be petted, and shown affection. So the Cat was then taken out of Captivity, and was found a New forever home. The last time I checked up on the Animal I saw that they are doing just great! I am told they are an absolute lovebug that wants affection often. They no longer have Violent tendencies, and are a complete 180 of what they were before. Logically looking at things, and speaking Love & Affection is really the solution to all Violence. Here is one last example from India. There are groups of people who have Asps, Cobras, and other venomous Snakes that live with them. As well as within the community. They do not pose a Threat to the people because they are treated right by the People. They are shown Love & Affection when brought into the homes, or when they are just held/petted overall. As well as when they are given Food & Water. As that old adage goes they don't bite the hand that feeds them. Again I can go on, and on, and on.

@@Draverd While I do agree that helps with feral cats, I'd be hesitant to use wild/exotic animals as examples of domestication, because a lot of the time, the people that own certain exotic animals are specially trained and know about how to care for them/provide for their specialized needs, and even if a wild/exotic animal is cared for by humans to a point that it's not able to be released back to the wild, it doesn't mean it's domesticated (especially since the act of domestication has to happen over several generations in order for the pet to gain the domestication gene, as what has happened with dogs and cats over the centuries). I do agree that giving animals love is important, just that I think it should be made clear that not just anyone can care for a wild/exotic pet (and even the best professionals can mess-up too).

@@Scarshadow666 ​ @Pheonixtail Dragonlore I see and understand where you are coming from. Let's make a distinction. There is a difference between tame, and domesticated. The Deadly Snakes in that area in India for all intents and purposes are Domesticated. They pose no threat to the Populous. That being said just because an Animal is Tame, or Domesticated, does not mean it is not Dangerous. I would share with you links to these things I talk about, but the system would more than likely take down the comment. I have a few more stories to share. In the Middle East there is a Family who has a Pet Crocodile that is completely safe to be around. This Crocodile is actually famous in the area. It walks around town as well posing no threat. Heck they have Chickens that run around, and the Crocodile has not once attacked, or ate one! This Crocodile is around 80 Years old right now. The way they acquired the Animal is interesting. They encountered it as a youngling out in the wild. The Crocodile followed this Family so they thought they would bring it home for a short time. That they would give it care, and release it back in the wild. Well they released the Animal multiple times. It got to the point that the Crocodile knew exactly where they lived, and would walk back to their home each time. So it became a part of the Family/Town. Another takes place at one of the National Parks in the USA. In this National Park there is a group of Mountain Lions, and Bears that get along. The Park Rangers have talked about how they see them hunt, and eat together. So they have come together and coexist helping each other out. For the last story there is a couple (Husband & Wife) who run a Bear rescue. Long story short all the Bears they have are loving caring Animals. They walk around, and interact with these Animals. The interviewer asked them something along the lines " Have you ever been injured by them?" Which they told them all the time. That the Bears claws are sharp, and that they get cut frequently, but never anything severe or life threatening. That this happens because these Animals just don't realize their Strength. So again Love & affection is the answer to all of life's problems. Imagine some day the world population is 100 Billion. The people will have to be like Russia, or that town in India, and coexist with the wildlife. So basically tame all wild life, that is near Towns/Cites/and where people live overall, at some point. My Final two cents. I am a Christian, and as a Christian I feel compelled to share with everyone the Gospel, at least once, through one verse. John 6:40 "For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” Sadly it appears a lot of so called "Christians" are not who they claim to be. It is because they are ignorant of the scriptures, and they love to take things out of context. They do not turn the Cheek. They do not Love thy Neighbor as thyself. They do not forgive continuously, and leave the past in the past. Instead they attack, and condemn others. They call others sinners, and demand that they stop sinning. When they themselves are being hypocrites! Everyone is going to Sin until either the day we die, or until we are caught up in the air. The thing is believers will be refined as they live, and will take part in it less and less. On top of that everyone is born with Sin. Before they have taken even one action in life they are indwelt with sin. Love AKA Jesus is the answer, and people can only come to the Father by Jesus AKA Love. They can not fake Love & Sincerity since God is love. Therefore he knows those who have him, and those who do not. Lastly we are told he will provide a way out for you. That is as long as you call upon his name ask for it. Love & Peace

I've volunteered in this aviary a few times before, the people and birds are amazing. Loki is such a special bird and getting to meet a raven in person for the first time was magical! Wow, it's not even legal to breed and have ravens or crows for pets in the US unless you have rescued them. I did both a crow and a raven that had been shot with BB guns. They are so smart and adapt really fast but I have to say I'm glad it's not legal to breed and raise them here. You've done a great job bringing him back around and changing his opinion of humans. I'm sure he's way happier now too :)

..... There was a guy in Venice Beach, Calif who had a raven... He would bounce a small ball on the walkway... And the bird would jump up, or some times fly up, to fetch the ball, then would hop back, and bow his head slightly as he flung the ball back to the guy ... ... Made everyone laugh ! ... That's our cat, he steals sponges from the kitchen sink, the drain cover from the shower, my razor for shaving (cover is on!) and other assorted rubber bands and hair elastics and stockpiles them under someone's bed! It's so funny! Love these clever animals!

The guy is 'in love' in his personal life (I believe) and that's where he finds all the patience, the tenderness, the joy, the love he need to gain a new friend. I hope you get children if it isn't already the case. The are going to grow up in a true loving environment and will be thriving later in their life.
