I liked both actresses as Beth. But, I have to say Beth Chamberlin was such a good, spot-on recast. A more matured, understated Beth...who went through the gamut of soap tropes. Judy Evans was excellent. Ms. Chamberlain took Beth to the next level. I'd forgotten she was a recast.

Judi Evans was my favorite. Beth Chanberlin was good and made the part hers, since she played it so long, but I loved the original Phillip and Beth storylines so Judi will always be Beth to me.

Beth Raines was my favorite character of all time. But, after watching this, Boy she sure did get around. lol Thanks for this though. What a blast from the past!! Loved it!!

I was waiting to see what they would call Beth. After I watched how many times she was kidnapped and "died," I would have definitely called her Beth, the Survivor. Confused is okay for the man stuff but Survivor is better for her life as a whole.

That is so true! I have the hardest time thinking of the titles at the end because I want it to best match them. I see now that Survivor would have been a way better title. I may have to seek advice from other fans when I come up with titles for the more popular characters.

It was after 1997 when they ruined Beth's character not 1989. 1989 thru 1991 Beth was the same as usual.

It took long enough to get this up. LOL. Beth was a GREAT character. She was GL’s answer to GH’s Laura. She was beloved in Judi’s time. I’m not sure why the writers completely missed the mark with her when they brought her back in 1997. Beth Chamberlin is a great actress. They could have given Beth an edge without making her, for a while, a nutcase. They never connected all her traumas to her bad behavior after 1997. That’s all they had to do. Instead, they made her a villainous to prop up Phillip/Harley. There was so much potential with the character without completely changing her. It was not fair to the character’s legacy, or to the fans. They took a beloved, honestly iconic character, and made her a joke for too long before the ship was corrected before cancellation. Beth had two of the shows most loved super couples- with Phillip and with Lujack. Does anyone have Judi’s last day as Beth? Where they shoot Phillip and Beth is kidnapped? There is nothing on KZbin from the search for Beth at Stoney Lake (on location) where Beth Chamberlin played a character mistaken for Beth!

The original Beth was my favorite. I never understood why they needed to revive the character. Mary Kay Adams was a breath of fresh air when she arrived.

I liked both Beths. I do think that BC was able to make Beth her own. It is just disappointing that post her 1997/98 return she was given very little to do other than to be rescued by Phillip. Or be fodder for Phillip's love interest. And I love Phillip and Beth. I feel beth could have had more to do character wise. The Lorelei story could have been interesting if it played more into her past as a teen.

Okay, I just started watching Guiding Light and I think I’m starting to understand where some of Lizzie’s issues come from. I watched a clip where Beth says Lizzie’s acting like Phillip but the desperate behavior pre-Bill seems a little like her trying to get Phillip back.

Beth Chamberlain was the better actress and much prettier. She could cry at the drop of a hat and had great chemistry with all the male actors she was paired with. She also did great as Lorelei.

To me Beth is kind of like Michelle. Judi Evans has better chemistry with Lujack and Beth Chamberlain had better chemistry with Phillip. Just like how one Michelle was good with Jesse but Bethany as Michelle was soooooo good with Danny

I agree about budigs Michelle was good with Jesse n Bethanys was good with Danny. I disagree about beth tho as Judi and beth C. Were both good with GA's phillip and Judi had more chemistry with grants phillip. Didnt like Beth lujack at all. They were all wrong for each other n not a match.

@@52goodguy wrong Many great couples didnt like each other in real life n still had great chemistry in reel life on TV. Judi n grant had it. Bo hope dool had it they didn't get along for years. So as I said grant n Judi as phillip n beth=great chemistry. Didnt like beth lujack at all together. Liked nick mindy Kim simms. So chemistry is in the eye of the beholder lol.

Judi evans is my beth and had the greatest chemistry n romance with grant aleksanders phillip. Couldnt stand lujack/beth they were dreadful to me mildly toxic and extreme opposites who werent a match.. Beth chamberlain was a good replacement beth. Beth n phillip my favorite all time gl couple! My favorite beth moment was beth and phillip dancing and falling in love to truly by lionel Richie at their high school prom. This was one of the best and most romantic moments in all of daytime tv. It was picked as a fan favorite last year in sod.

@@swolfe9668 beth n lujack were so much worse. They were toxic extreme opposites who weren't compatible n lujack was a thug hothead gang leader n just a yuck character and all wrong for beth. Phillip n beth were a perfect match had a beautiful love story great chemistry n were compatible characters. I loved phillip n phillip n beth. They were one of the best couples all time all soaps and lujack beth were one of the worst couples all time all soaps.

​@@barihopeI liked Beth and Lujack together, and Lujack wasn't a thug when he was with Beth. Phillip on the other hand had all the qualities of a spaulding, and could really be a jerk sometimes. Although, I did like Grant Alexander as Phillip better than the other one. I also liked the original Beth Better. I didn't like Beth played as a trampy schemer, that wasn't who beth was, and I think that betrayed the original idea of the character.

@Patricia Jones yes lujack was a thug gang leader ruffian etc. Couldn't stand that character n he was all wrong for sweet gentle beth. He was toxic for her he schemed n manipulated to get her which isnt real love. Sorry not sorry but philip was a prince in comparison he saved beth from her abusive step father Bradley. Phillip n beth were gl best couple n a true love soulmate n supercouple. Lujack n beth were a fan favorite imho. N I know all soaps n couples from soaps like an expert lol.
