So stable and always on localizer, so we couldn't see the runway until the last quartermile (was hidden behind windscreen bar)! Great, safe and controlled as we know you!
@GuidoWarnecke10 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I would like to take out that windscreen bar....but: The cabin has a differential pressure of 8.9 PSI. In metric terms: 6557 KG per m2! This bar is needed for structural integrity... This is why in most of the pressurized aircraft you have separate glasses with bars in between. Small Cessna 172 have an entire windscreen and better visibility. Example here: Mountain flying in a C172 - must see! Happy Landings, Guido

Great video, as usual. Always wondered about the reversers, though. Why would there be a greater chance of ingesting debris under 60kts?
@GuidoWarnecke10 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Jeff! At higher forward speeds of the aircraft the debris (anything on the runway) is blown backward, away from the engine intake. Typically 60 knots is considered the speed where reverse thrust should be in idle and reversers should be stowed at taxi speed. Thanks for watching my videos & happy landing, Guido

Guido. This Citation V, can it be flown by one pilot or is two neccessary. Hell I remember the first Citation that landed at Virginia Airport Durban North. Only from memory had three windows each side. Then it was banned from landing at Virginia due to noise factor. I clearly remember when Virginia Airport opened and we used to have drag races up and down the runway . This was months before the official opening of the aerodrome. Happy flying, Peter
@GuidoWarnecke10 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, some Citations are single pilot certified. The Citation V is not. I hold, however, an FAA single pilot exemption that allows me to fly in the USA single pilot. A special simulator training course is required every 12 months. Most of the countries do not allow to fly the Citation V single pilot if it is registered in these countries. Flying single pilot can be a lot of work.. Here a video flying the Citation V single pilot: Citation V - single pilot flight to FL450! and here: Single pilot flight in a Citation V jet. Cockpit view with live ATC! Happy Landings, Guido

What is the biggest challenge when flying the Citation V for you?
@GuidoWarnecke10 жыл бұрын
Ganon136 The Citation V is a docile aircraft and easy to fly. A challenge is the speed and climb rate on departures (3,000 feet per minute). It is easy t bust an altitude restriction. This is why we are so precise on calling altitudes between the 2 pilots. otherwise: a fun aircraft to fly. Happy landings, Guido

Hi Guido, I have noticed that remove your hands from the yoke just after touchdown. Is there any deeper meaning behind that procedure? My thought are what about in case of crosswind landings, sudden windshear after touchdown? Perhaps its because you want to avoid a possible human reflect of mistakenly trying to correct for runway misalignments through the yoke? I am really interested in the reasoning behind this procedure. Thanks, Simon
@GuidoWarnecke10 жыл бұрын
Hi Simon, you have a good point here and this has been addressed by others to. In a light aircraft it is good practice to keep the hands on the controls until slow taxi speed, also to take the weight off the fragile nose wheel by pulling back the yoke. In a heavier aircraft this is not so much of importance. But I will consider in the next videos to sat a good example. In strong winds it is different: C501 landing in 60 knots winds at Stornoway EGPO! Happy Landings, Guido
@chromosom950910 жыл бұрын
How often dose the cockpit upgrades and how has it helped you in flight, Mr. Warnecke?
@GuidoWarnecke10 жыл бұрын
This aircraft on the video is built in 1991. Some electronic components have been changed,but it is not feasible to change the entire cockpit. Modern cockpits are easier to manage and more user friendly. Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings, Guido
@chromosom950910 жыл бұрын
Guido Warnecke When is the aircraft considerd outdated or obsolete?
@GuidoWarnecke10 жыл бұрын
chromosom9509 With good maintenance,an aircraft can be operated for a long time. 30-40 years, no problem. It is mostly an economical consideration: typically older aircraft need more fuel. This is why airliners change airplanes and buy expensive new ones. Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings, Guido

Nice and easy with little or no wind!!!! Still good flying tips as you say always use checklist and do the checks early then you can enjoy hand flying the plane!!!! Hi! Does "continuous ignition" mean ignition in combustion chambers to prevent flameout?
@GuidoWarnecke10 жыл бұрын
HI Michal, the flame in the combustion chamber is normally self sustained. In case of a flame out for any reason, the continuous ignition makes a relight more possible. We have the ignition ON during take off and landing and when the engine anti-ice is selected. It wears out the igniter plugs, this is the reason why we do not leave the ignition ON during the entire flight. Happy Landings, Guido

I've always wondered. If you fly from a local airport to an other local airport but in an other country like say Canada, how does customs work?.With all your passport and things?They have custom agents in EVERY airport?
@GuidoWarnecke10 жыл бұрын
Hi John, when you fly cross border, you have to file a flight plan which is transmitted to the other country. In certain countries you have to get a landing permission beforehand. The first landing must be on an "airport of entry", where they have customs and border control officers. Only a few airports are airports of entry. Thanks for your comment & happy landings, Guido

Being an FSX pilot only, does adjusting pitch trim work the same in the real world as it does in FSX, meaning just not touching the stick('s equivalent) and then adjusting trim so the plane's attitude doesn't change? I hope I'm making sense here.
@GuidoWarnecke10 жыл бұрын
The trim is to "fine tune" and to minimize the control forces, that you do not have to push or pull against the yoke. Only with a properly trimmed plane a smooth flying is possible. Happy Landings, Guido
@1BergerVongSchlauigkeitHer10 жыл бұрын
Guido Warnecke That much I already learned in the "simulator" ;). So it's just a little knob on the control stick that lets you adjust on the fly? I'm not really sure why I'm asking this because it's the only way that would make sense, but that's what being a pilot on KZbin gets you. :P Happy landings to you, too!

Is it standard in Europe to have ATC assign you a specific parking spot? What if there are two FBOs? It seems quite different than the US with the ramp controlling where you are parked at.
@GuidoWarnecke10 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, big difference to the US. All has to be pre-arranged by a handler and in most airports there is only one FBO anyhow. Service is typically at a high standard, but the pricing is also very, very high! Things like you would take for granted in the US, e.g. a GPU if you take a top off fuel or waive the ramp fees are not known. They charge you an arm and a leg... Thanks for watching my videos (btw. a new one will come up tomorrow, Sunday) & happy landings, Guido
@michaeldulitz440410 жыл бұрын
Guido Warnecke I suppose the prearrangement is required given the complexity of the ATC system with slot times and the like. Thanks for the videos, they are an excellent learning tool, even if I am only using them to fly simulators. -Michael
