I first started Guild Wars 2 when it first came out, but I was a gaming returnee after many years and it overwhelmed me so I put it aside. In these COVID-19 days, I returned to Guild Wars 2 and was again overwhelmed. I considered giving up on it again. But I decided to seek out information about it before I gave up. Among all the videos and video series I have watched, THIS series is the one that has really fired up the ol' gaming bones inside of me again and to stick with Guild Wars 2. Now as I'm progressing up the level ladder again (up to Level 32 so far on characters of all five races), I'm really appreciating the game and my appreciation of the game comes from my appreciation of the story of the original game ...... and that comes from my appreciation of THIS series. Thank you, WoodenPotatoes!

Oddly enough, I was watching one of your GW2 countdown videos, in which you started theorizing about the lore. Having never played the original GW, I obviously had no idea what you were talking about, so I stopped watching your video and decided to search for something more interesting. Immediately I typed "guild wars 2" on KZbin and sorted by highest rating... and... Whoa!.. the highest rated video was one of your lore series. Needless to say, I am now a huge fan of the lore! Thanks to you!

While our esteemed narrator did not write the story, he has quite aptly adapted the synopsis into such a form that one who views all these videos can come away with a sense of knowing of it, whether or not they themselves actually played the game through. I dare say that he has uncovered some information involving these essential NPC's that even i did not discover after 5+ years of gameplay

Great video! It's a great refresher for the vets and an entertaining way to get the new people in on the story. As an avid GW lore fan and reader i know for a fact that many of the points you mentioned in this video are not listed on the wiki as you presented them. I've read that crap like two times over and i still come here for additional information because much of this comes from in-game resources which i have barely ever delved in, and other even more vague sources. The first 2 minutes talk about the creation of the White Mantle. After that the story picks up where it ended in The Fall of Ascalon episode after crossing of the Shiverpeaks and the death of Prince Rurik. The hidden frame at 13:24 will become more important in the Flameseeker episode. The final part of the video tells the story of the disappearance of Saul D'Alessio and how the charr invasion of Kryta had been fought off (between the Searing and the main part of Prophecies storyline).

Basicly it's 2 groups of people (besides the lionguard): white mantle and silver blade, they are in some kind of war, the silver blade want to kill the "chosen" from the white mantle and the white knight call the unseen "gods", the unseen are the mursaat in game. The white mantle have some kind of agreement with the lionguard and they help to defend the scepter of orr which the undead are after led by the flameseeker.
