Excellent Gene. I remember learning this song back when it first came out back in 1979! We actually found a guy who could sing in Rik's upper range! I burned up many a cassette decks and tapes back then. Awesome to see you play it, spot on.

@@GeneSchmidt indeed we did, that said we were all teenagers back then. Once our vocalist hit 19 years old his range dropped down to Molly Hatchet territory..............LOL I miss the good-ol days Gene. In 1976 I paid $400 for a brand new Fender Twin Reverb and $565 for a brand new Gibson LesPaul Deluxe.

@@hkguitar1984 Oh man! Totally miss those old days!!! Yeah... things are crazy expensive now!
@hkguitar19843 жыл бұрын
@@GeneSchmidt They are indeed. A couple years back I was fortunate enough to score a great deal on a used Marshall 1987x and have it converted to true Plexi specs (new output transformer). Things I'd taken for granted for years are shockingly expensive now. And I'm just talking about straight vintage style rig/equipment, I've not even started putting together anything digital for recording. As it stands I'm still 100% analog for amplifiers and effects! That leaves me in a good and bad place at the same time! I kept my original Twin Reverb I purchased in the '70s, I'm running a dual amp setup now with the Marshall and the Twin Reverb. Thank goodness I don't play out anymore as I've not eaten my Wheaties enough to easily move those amps on a regular basis!
@GeneSchmidt3 жыл бұрын
@@hkguitar1984 very very cool! I came really close to buying a Twin Reverb last year. In hindsight, I wish I had. I have a JCM800 (1983) 100w head and matching slabs 1960a slant 4x12. Got both together in 1995 for $650! I will never sell it because I will never find a deal like that again.

Ha! I borrowed that guitar to do that video. You might be able to see an OLP doubleneck in the background. It was just unplayable - especially trying to play that tune. The downside with the EPI was the terrible access to the upper frets. I couldn’t play that solo on the EPI - ugh. I’m watching your videos right now. Killer! You have a great band. You guys sound awesome! You are super talented!
@geraldhartley2 жыл бұрын

Hey man! Thank you so much and thanks for checking it out! You can probably see another double neck in the background. That one is mine and it was nearly impossible to play this tune on it. I actually borrowed the epiphone from my brother-in-law just to make this video - lol. Problem with the epiphone was that there just wasn't enough access to the higher frets 'for me' to play the leads, so I used my Hammer.

Brilliant as always. Looks like it was shot at 5150 studios! A double neck SG too?? Daaaaaaayyuuuuuummm!!!
@GeneSchmidt4 жыл бұрын
:) Thank you, Mike! Yeah... so I borrowed that guitar from my brother-in-law for this video. You'll see that there's another double neck behind me in the video. The 12 string on that one is just UNPLAYABLE. Unfortunately, there's just not enough neck on the white one to play the leads on it. But I'm actually really happy with how that hollow body played and sounded :)
