So much good technique here, great teaching. Rhythm, technique, counting through the progressions, the whole 9 yards. Took me back to my first lessons and all the stuff my teacher glossed over... 25 years go. Thank you!

Fun Tip: If you learned this, you also learned "Roller Derby Queen". No kidding, the strumming has a different feel to it, but the two songs are almost identical.

How do you keep track of your count without adding the measure number to the first beat?? (1234,2234,3234...) I would get so lost
@MrPhillie Жыл бұрын
Jim Croce songs are usually way out of my skill level…well they are out of my skill level. But at least this sounds fine for personal enjoyment, which Steve respects. We don’t all have to be guitar warriors to enjoy the instrument.

Hi. Thanks for your comment. Glad to know you enjoy the videos. You can always pick up these songs in a few months or even years once you feel you can manage them. This is something that happens to all of us. If you are having fun we are on the right track! Keep up the good work!

Hey Steve. You mean 8 beats on that. Right. Not 8 measures? Seems like that’d be the whole verse
@randomdude146 Жыл бұрын
can someone explain the strumming pattern?
@GuitarSongsChannel Жыл бұрын
Hi! Strumming patterns can be quite personal and it doesn't have to be the exact same all the time. You can get a general feel of the song by doing D D DU DU. So when counting the beat (1 - 2 - 3 - 4) the first 2 Downs go on beats 1 and 2. This would be 1/4 notes. On beats 3 and 4 the Down - Ups come in and these are played in 1/8 notes. So 2 strums per beat. Again this is not always the same and you can adapt to what feels best to you. Another way you can try it out is thinking of 2 bars. On the first bar just play Down strums and on the second bar you can play DU - DU - D - D. Remember to palm mute when you only have the Down strums. Hope this helps out and answers your question.

Maybe good idea when using to to say "play what LOOKS like a D, play what LOOKS like a G, but to the ear they really are E and A.

Hi T. This is an easy version with some open chords. Originally it's played with barre chords and the blues walkup playing the P5, M6 and b7 of the chord. Thanks for your post and feedback.
@michaelwheeler3782 Жыл бұрын
That is not a B chord it's a B7
@GuitarSongsChannel Жыл бұрын
Hi Michael! Thanks for your comment and feedback. And that's right it is a B7. It's actually easier to play for the people who have some trouble with barre chords, especially with the root on the 5th string. Sometimes B7 can be a bit difficult because of the skipping 2nd string.
