Charlie, many thanks. You've help me a great deal, I'm booming ahead. At 49 years old, I've made more progress in 3 months than I ever did as a teen.

I want to thank you for this lesson. This is something I've been wanting to learn for years and always found daunting. But I've been practicing this for a couple days now and I'm amazed by what I've learned and how easy it is. This is invaluable for soloing during a song. Thanks again.

Well Charlie I have tried figuring this out on my own and now I know why you are the man, this will open a lot of doorways and answer a lot of questions and now finally I can explore getting up and down the neck. Thanks

Wow, Charlie! You laid that out so simply. Thank you Maesto. I'm especially glad for this because I'm gaining arthritis in my hands and I need something to exercise them. This will be the beginning of the scales I use to exercise my hands. You're a good man Charlie.

That's amazing! These scales have always made me feel frustrated, for it felt like something completely impossible to memorize, but now I see that it is easy. Thank you very much, you are the first person who could make it clear to me :)

Thank you, Charlie! I used to use similar aids when I was teaching, but you gave me a new method! I was sure I would never be able to recall all the notes; now I am sure I will be able to, with work!

Really Really Really...Helpful!! i knew the chromatic scale and figuring the the notes on Low E was easy, but never thought of using the octaves to figure out the notes on other strings. Thanks mate..thank you so much!!

Thank you so much Charlie! I am Italian I speak English only a bit but your explanation was so clear and easy to understand! This made my day so good! 🎸

This is how I do it. Basically, the notes are in the same order, only the starting point changes so, really once you memorize the Low E string, there are just a couple of ways to find any note quickly. Great Lesson and Very Important topic!

I find it easier to identify notes in the middle of the guitar by just starting at the 12th fret and working a few frets over on any string while counting half notes.

Hi, I find it difficult to stretch and span out my fingers on the fret board any tips or methods please to get over this hurdle many thanks.

Look up hand and finger stretches and its something that you'll build up the more you play.

How on Earth can you have your index and pinky finger 6 frets apart? When I curl my fingers to fret a string they can't reach far enough to cover 3 frets!

Fuck dude, i already knew this.. like, for real, i just never saw it? The answer have been there for so long, yet.. i just didnt see it? I've known for quite some time how to "count" the fretboard note names, just like you did E F G A B C D. And ive just been remembering that if you go "up" a semitone, you add # and if you down a semitone, you add b, except at B/C and E/F. However, the octave thing where you basically just do a "powerchord" without the a string. e.g. 2nd fret E, 4th fret d, i've always known that, that was an octave.. i just never got to think of it the way you show in the video. Thanks for the kind of silly and embarresing eyeopener!
