@Christopher Davis Francis I couldn't believe some moron told a commenter to, " Just relax. His music had been recorded!" What in the actual he!! does that have to do with his passing? Pretty sure his recordings won't keep his wife warm at night or comfort his friends. Hard for me to understand the callous disregard for people's feelings some have but... welcome to YT & the guff of keyboard warriors. They're so big & bad ! Yuck!! 🤢🤮

@ Nancy Bates precisely why those of us who got to see these stars rise owe it to younger people to expose them to as much music in all genres and time periods as possible. It's also vital that schools embrace music classes and maybe back off from sports....I am so blessed to have been the daughter of a woman with extraordinary taste in music. The first time I became aware of the genius of Jeff Beck was "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" as a teenager in the 80's. As a guitar student of two years at the time, I had heard some of his work with the Yardbirds, but this stopped me in my tracks. The emotional depth and the stunning articulation of the vibrato grabbed me. I wanted to hear more! He was a musician's musician, like Roy Buchanan and Lonnie Mack. I miss him already, but I'm grateful for all of the years of inspiration and music.

Everyone on the floor stood on the folding chairs and the other two levels stood up as well for the entire concert. The music was beyond incredible. Beck would look over at Bogart while playing the most amazing riff and smile. It was as though he was saying , “ These hillbillies have no idea what they’re hearing !” Bogart would jump vertically in the air while answering with the bass. It was beyond my attempt to describe. I shall never forget it. May is soul have repass .

Can you believe Beck, Clapton and Page were in The Yardbirds and we lived at the same time as them?.. Unbelievable, Jeff Beck was one of the best guitars to ever exist and all I have left is to be thankful that we lived alongside these giants and we have the legacy of these amazing artists as our treasure trove and inheritance of genius and creativity for posterity. We are truly if not in one of the best, in the best timeline for musical wealth and beauty and we should keep their flame alive by playing their art and reviving their music through each and every single replay. Jeff Beck was not only an amazing guitarist, he was an amazing session guitarist. Being a session guitarist means anyone can throw any tune at you can not only get it, but make it better. Beck made a great living as a session guitarist. He didn't have to put up with the drama of a band, or the fame that would have come with him if he had been in the same band for years. He only played with people he *wanted* to play with. I say if you are going to compare Jeff Beck to other guitarists, they should be session guitarists, because he had that extra skill.

Very nice remembrance of Jeff Beck. However, the thumbnail wasn’t necessary? If Mr. Beck’s last words were indeed these words, they are very profound words - far, far, far from being creepy. What was creepy, was the thumbnail, which wasn’t needed for this very warm posting.

Beck enjoyed reading poetry and was fond of African American poet Langston Hughes. His last words were a Langston Hughes quote.

I saw Beck for the first time in Dallas Texas, at a little club called LuAnn's, in.....must have been '68. Rod Stewart, then unknown, was the lead singer. They KILLED IT. He's been my favorite guitarist ever since. Sort of a beyond-belief-mythological-figure kind of thing. I really haven't totally come to grips with his passing. Really a blow to the matrix that my world hangs on. Godspeed Mister Beck. Thank you for the brilliant music.

Beck is probably the best electric guitarist to date - can can play just about any style beautifully. I don't understand when critics question whether he is as good as Clapton - Beck is far more versatile, and he's a fantastic Blues player!

I wasn’t a huge Jeff Beck fan growing up, but always respected his work. He never seemed to “seek” the spot light. I need to get into his solo works. I’m familiar with Yardbirds work and the BeckOla and Truth albums. But that’s where my knowledge of his music ends. I’m gonna binge on some of his music now
@danielschaeffer12942 жыл бұрын
“Blow by Blow” and “Wired” are his masterpieces. Beck always claimed that it was being exposed to John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra that made the difference between the old Beck and the new one, so check out “Birds of Fire.” That album changed music forever.

I learned of Beck in my teens when Rod Stewart's 1984 album "Camouflage" came out..I remember older friends saying "Jeff Beck plays guitar on it!"..I bought the album and loved it, it is still my favorite Rod Stewart album...lot more rock/guitar oriented than a lot of his albums, and I was impressed with Beck's guitar playing...
@grifftrain2 жыл бұрын
@@dyer2cycle no offense meant, but I couldn’t get into Camouflage. It had the 80s production sound with synths and drum machine sounds that I could never get into. I’m a big Rod Stewart fan, but after 1980 or so, I haven’t really been into his music. I liked Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart albums from the late 60s. Again , no offense as we all have different musical tastes.

@@danielschaeffer1294 inner mounting flame and birds of fire were the most powerful music created at that time, followed by Jeff and Chick Corea's Return to Forever, Larry Coryell's Eleventh House, Weather report...etc etc etc music took a giant leap with ELP, and King Crimson, incredible leap from the 1960s...i was lucky to see these great shows, even Alice Cooper and David Bowie and Pink Floyd had their place in the incredible evolution. By the time Kiss came along commercial success of numerous rock stars had a formula to sell stuff related to the bands. Gone were the days of the creativity of the Beatles, and rock and roll of the Dave Clark 5. I leaned toward the funky sounds of James Brown and Sly and the family stone. Giant respect goes to Jeff Beck and his never dying quest to create with others. All of his drummers were powerful players which gave him more diversity into the world of rock music. 🎶🪘⏳🌪️😥

We were briefly at school with Jeff Beck when he was 14 and we were all 13 years old. His mother had got him back in school for another year. One afternoon during the lunch hour, at Sutton East Secondary School, waiting for the bell to go. We were all sat down, when Jeff walked in, with a jumble of wood and bits and pieces, and he marched to the back of the room where the storeroom door was open and sat on the floor cross legged. The boys at the back were next to him, happened to be the lads who got on with him the best. He had wires and bits of what looked like rulers, and I do not know how he made the sounds he made but he made about six blues notes; I was startled, because I learnt piano from my concert and jazz playing mother, just as Jeff Beck had done from his concert piano trained mother and at the time, I could not understand for the life of me, understand how he created those notes, because small radios had not been invented yet. It was 1958-9. I went home at lunch time all excited and thought to myself, a I walked back for the afternoon session. "One day Jeff you will be famous!" but it was more than fame that Jeff Beck achieved in his lifetime- it was a new way of playing the guitar that was uniquely His. He wanted to do what I wanted to do on the piano. He definitely did that, in his own unique way, and did it spectacularly, as time went on. Now he is recognised and is playing on a cloud somewhere up in the Heavens. Cynthia Allen-McLaglen
