Hi, thanks for your lesson. Am playing this live shortly for the first time supporting Steve Hewlett BTT ventriloquist. A number of fingerings is possible (especially depending on the length of your fingers - mine are short unfortunately) BUT in order to play the last four notes of the riff as per the recorded version the B flat really has to be played on the sixth fret of the bottom string in order to get the run at the correct speed.

You then finish on the open D; my short fingers make this awkward. Nevertheless do try the riff tuned a semitone up and start with the F# on the bottom string - really easy to play then. Gary

This, in turn makes the chords very difficult afterwards so perhaps the time to spin the tuning knob back to normal tuning is during the doo, doo, doos!!!!!! If I had though harder and longer before posting these comments I would have referred to open strings rather than open fretted notes. I would also have uploaded it in reverse order so that you could read it the right way round - sorry! Have also reflected that you could play three of the last four notes on the A string.

I spent some time this morning looking at the live versions and this awkwardness is DUCKED - perhaps unsurprisingly. Actually it is not too hard. This leaves me with the suspicion that the original was probably recorded tuned a semitone up then played a semitone lower making more use of open fretted notes (OK on my Tyler Variax!).
