I saw a picture in a magazine years and years ago. I recall it to be a picture of a squier or fender flying v shape. I recollect this later to be a katana model, the squier version of the fender katana. It was white, had 3 pickups to my memory, one was a humbucker and the other two were single coils not unlike the typical ones you see on a strat, even angled close to the neck. Ive searched but only see single or double humbucker examples of these. Its a curiosity of my memory thats vivid to me as a youngster now a grown adult.

Jeez, i love this channel!!!Flying V fan forever and pined over these in the '80s. Sorta played one just like this in the late '90s but had my teenaged daughter with me at the time. Shop owner wanted me to plug in but,,,,oh well ;) At least i got that close.

And one of these sat in the display case where I took lessons from 1983 to 1989 before it finally sold. I wish I knew then what it would be worth now. I remember that this reissue was almost impossible to keep in tune with all the string rollers and the string break angle.

B&W photos exist of the Melody Maker necked example. It was allegedly sold to a Japanese collector, and by a staggering coincidence the Ibanez Futura from '74-'78 look like they were exact copies of the guitar in the aforementioned photo. I've had an early example of the Futura since '78, so I've kind of taken an interest over the years...

I know those are great guitars but just can't come to terms with the headstock. There was a picture floating around with a traditional Gibson headstock and that didn't look much better. I've done drawings for fun with a Flying V and Explorer headstock. Think it looked good with the Explorer. Thanks for the great videos. Moved from Santa Clarita to Florida in 1990. Miss SOCAL so much. Nice Pushead Metallica T shirt.

The Moderne is great and it's certainly one of the weirdest guitars that Gibson ever produced, probably the best of their weird models, but I think the Corvus and the 20/20 are a bit weirder.

That would mean making them great the first time. Every era of players is disappointed in what Gibson has been putting out in their time. Even in the late 1950s, the common knowledge was that Gibson guitars “aren’t what they used to be”. Never forget that the Les Paul went out of production in 1960 due to low sales. It was only when some guys from England found them for cheap in used shops and started playing the heck out of them through their own amps that a sound was born. But for Gibsons as new instruments, the prevailing sentiment by players has always been disappointment. It’s only when the original buyer takes a huge financial loss and the guitars get fully worked over by a repairman that they turn into awesome guitars-for the second or third owner who buys it for pennies on the dollar.

At the 1957 NAMM show, the Futura WAS what became the Explorer, but had a much narrower waist, and a Dean-style split V headstock. When it was released into the wild, it had been redesigned as the Explorer we know today. What do I win? Please don't let it be a Moderne.

You guys need to find a Gibson mvx victory, That was Gibson's idea to cash in on the super Strat fad of the early 80s when van Halen hit it big, rareish, they supposedly ever made 2500 of em, they do pop up on reverb from time to time tho, supposedly excellent playing guitars and one of the last to come out of Kalamazoo. ..

michael caglia not a whole lot, Gibson started making them in 1981 and ended production in 1983, I would guess tops 1000 were made in 82, there is a Pelham blue mx on reverb for 1800 right now.
