Was waiting for Robert to pop up near the end, and add graphene to the bioplastic to make it more durable, conductive or use it for batteries, supercapacitors semiconductors or solar cells :)

Is that type plastic water proof? You need to wash your hands before you play your guitar, you don't want to run the risk of grinding anything into the fretboard. I love playing guitar, I'm not as good as I would like to be either, you just have to practice all you can and you should get better and better until you get where you want to be.
@MyNameIsLukey4 жыл бұрын
I'm unsure if it is waterproof, it might be water resistant but I will have to test this. Also playing the guitar is awesome, but you're right it is all about practice. Thanks mate!

I'm a guitar player, so I want this for making my own picks. I've made ordinary milkstone, but it's not strong enough. I've used the milkstone made with formaldehyde. That stuff is perfect. I wonder if this is different.

No, The colour change happens during the curing process. Thanks mate!

I believe it's due to Luke's fingers and the picks reaching equilibrium :-)

Can you let us know the overall cost of you making these plectrums and total time. Good idea. Made useful plectrums out of many things over the years, necessity can make us creative.

I use to cut up records for them.
@MyNameIsLukey4 жыл бұрын
Im unsure of the cost, as we had all the stuff laying around the lab. It only took me around 20-40 mins to make the Bio-Plastic, It is the drying/curing time that takes awhile. (around 48 hours to air dry)

Now I do understand English, and I am just over the pond do to speak (NLD). But. What makes things complicated, is all those chemical terms. If I can't see them in words, I am never going to get them right. If it is not to much of a trouble, writing out the recipe in the introduction text would be so helpful to us, non-Englishmen.
Great point! I will keep this in mind for other videos. Cheers mate.

I'll try this again. I don't know who this young fellow is but I assume he is related to Robert, he has the same sunny attitude which is always nice to see. He' done a fine job here. I would like to see the recipe for this written down somewhere. I am going to try to make some picks by 3-D printing them, don't know how well they'd hold up. I never heard them called Plectrums. Thanks for the video.

This stuff breaks down in a biological process, unlike normal synthetic plastics. Keep it dry and it should be good for a while, but it might lose some flexibility.

Lol I was wondering why go to all this trouble (except maybe if the not too dystopian future comes, this might come in handy provided I am a chemist who's interested in guitar??? 😂 ) I used to make picks from ice cream container lids, old credit cards and even plastic bottles. If I wanted to go fancy I'd get a whole assortment of sea shells (mostly broken pieces) all from the beach......
