This show is called "You Are Super". It is specifically for disadvantaged kids who grew up in orphanages and similar. In the first few rounds, each performer needs three of the four jurors to hit the button to move them forward. In the semi-final round, each juror chooses one act who goes to the finals. In the finals, it is an audience vote. Diana won her season with 49% of that vote. She was brought back the next year for a super season of past winners. She won that one too. After that season, Diana was gifted an apartment in Moscow by one of the jurors so she could focus on her music. Now, at 20, her vocal range is C3 to D6.

The competition is held annually for children who find themselves in a difficult life situation, whose parents have died or they live with elderly relatives. The apartment was given to Diana after winning the first season by the chairman of the jury - maestro Igor Krutoy, so that she could continue her vocal lessons after moving to Moscow. What you didn’t read in Wikipedia is that she couldn’t speak as a little girl, so they recommended singing lessons to help her, the rest is history. That’s why she has such fantastic control, she been learning since she was literally a baby. She is phenomenal.

Diana, a true Dramatic Contralto..... Contralto the rarest and lowest voice type for females. Dramatic is the rarest subdivision of contralto. Now add in her astounding physical attributes, larger vocal track, thicker longer vocal folds and her amazing resonators that produce harmonic overtones. These overtones are an octave higher, a 5th above that and to a lesser degree, 3rds and 4ths. A generational talent. Now has expanded her range lower and higher. Wikipedia has the sequence right. He was going by memory of what he had read. The Wikipedia article could be a little clearer about this, though, but it has to conform very closely to what is written about her in legitimate reference material. That reference material generally writes about her adoption separately from her early speech problems and the subsequent discovery of Diana's unusual singing voice by musician Alexander Varnamov (who, unfortunately died in January of 2021.)

She’s what is called a Contralto. It’s the lowest natural register for a female vocalists. She sings thru the upper chest cavity and the back portion of her throat giving that unique open sound. She’s also polyphonic. Meaning she sings two notes at once. Listen to her cover of Can’t Help Falling in Love With You. It is unbelievable

Thanks for your reaction to Diana. This girl is amazing! No mater the language she is simply wonderful. Who needs subtitles when you have an artist that makes you feel the music. One of her best covers is “Can’t help falling in love, out of this world. Another is a old Russian folk song called Rechenka, which means little river. It is a world class performance at 14 years old. Crow is another wonderful Russian pop song cover. She really excels at covering songs. She also has newer music show casing her improved upper register.

For those who are new to Diana: The composer (in 1994) of "I Will Win You Back" is the judge on the right of the screen in this "Wicked Game" performance (the one who hit his button last). He is also the one who gave Diana an apartment in Moscow in 2018 so that she could live near the center of Russian music education opportunities and the Russian music entertainment industry. Although the music for "I Will Win You Back" was written before Diana was born, it sounds exactly like it was written for Diana's voice.

Diana had appeared on the same show a year previously with a spectacular performance of Rechenka, a traditional from the far east of Russia, which she sung pn the second episode. On the first episode, she melted the hearts of the judges with a version of Indila's Dernière Danse. In a more recent show, she stunned the judges, which were also her co-competitors, with a radical re-interpretation of Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling In Love. Apart from that, she has beautiful covers of other artists as well as several very interesting originals.

She's really amazing, and this is my favourite song of hers. People keep mispronouncing her name though, because they see "nova" at the end. But I've heard her say her name, and she pronounces it "ang-kood-YIN-a-va".

I only found out about her 3 days ago and she is my first go to on youtube. I just can't get enough of her voice. She has been sent from another planet to teach us how to do it. Most of her performances deserve attention. for those who do not know Diana's back story, here is a brief outline : abused and abandoned as a child....was MUTE...raised for years in a Russian orphanage...her adoptive Mum provided voice and singing lessons as trauma therapy...Diana is a natural Contralto, rare and the lowest type of female vocalist...is polyphonic ( able to sing multiple tones or notes simultaneously )....and she is a divine performer........
