Don't forget to press Shift and then 0 (Zero) if you want to correct the previous note in a bar. I composed a 16 bar song and then there was a wrong note which i got to correct just before the 3rd note in the 2nd bar. i deleted that note but couldn't add a note in between. it took me an hour to figure it out (A rest will appear and then you can the correct note). press Shift and then 0 (Zero)

Yo Levi! Thanks for the video, so you know if it’s possible to select multiple notes by single string only? Guitar pro wants to do those power chords with the 3rds as 2 strings, a string skip, then a fret below the barred chord- but I prefer to play 3 strings together with huge stretch because I hate myself…? There’s got to be an easier way to change big sections all at once instead of selecting note by note and hot keying transpose down a string. Hopefully this made sense…

I have a problems correcting mistakes, lets say, changing a note at the 2nd beat, when I make that correction, I always wind up having to rewrite the the notes for the rest of the bar (beats 3 & 4) that got erased. Is there a shortcut to key to delete/modify notes without losing the work you did after?

single click on the beat three, "insert a beat" from the bar menu. you can then adjust the length of this beat to two beats or half a beat... (learn the keyboard shortcut!!)

Haha, you entered that riff faster than I could play it!! Seriously though, that has changed my thinking that GP is clunky for note entry compared to my previous app (Crescendo). But a bit of practice, coupled with the mixer, sounds and extensive palettes knocks my app out of the park. At 19:40 when a pull-offs and hammer-ons are added to the notes on the 6th string, the HO/PO symbols appear BELOW the notes. I prefer to always have the HO and PO symbols ABOVE the notes but I can't find anything in the manual, Help section or online forums to change the appearance of these symbols. I am using GP 7.5

You shouldn’t try and use guitar pro as a playback tool - it’s never going to be like an actual guitar because it’s midi.

In Guitar Pro 6, when importing notes by a midi keyboard they had a box which allowed you to turn the midi importing on or off. Is there a shortcut to do this in Guitar Pro 7? I try to import notes then turn it off while working out the rest of the song.

A feature I really want GP to add sometime in the future: adding tap rhythms. As in, you put in the tempo, it starts to play across the staff and "records" the rhythms you tap with one or two key strokes. Afterwards you can change the notes but the rhythms are done. Is this even possible?

It’s possible, simple in fact. It’s just registering your input in piano roll and quantising what happens. Any DAW with notation function does this.

Levi, I appreciate your tutorials a lot. I am now busy to make a score for PIANO (I didn't know this was possible!) When playing the piano you have the possibility to play 3 or 4 notes together and give some notes a (tied) duration. If I try this in GP now and change 2 notes in duration and play others in another duration (for example 2 notes half notes and note 3 and 4 in 16th) I now only can change all notes in half notes or 16th. Not separate! Do you know a solution for this?

But when I re open the file it changes back to Gb note insteand F#. Like if didn't save the change enharmonic. Help please, I need it for a formal score for University.

Great. Are you aware of a fantastic editing tool "hidden" : it is a small movable window, "widget-like" a module that contains all basic editing function, very handy. You could place it anywhere on the screen, for optimal workflow, like the fingerboard and the keyboard. The editor palette is not movable and far away so this tool is the greatest! I found it by accident, but lost it. Can you tell where I can find this tool again? Thank you, Bertrand

I don't know about making assignments, but I've become pretty efficient at using the arrows to navigate to the pitch I want, hitting Enter, then using -/+ to adjust the rhythm. -/+ defaults to the logical opposite; there is a setting to reverse it

I noticed that the fret numbers are also showing up in the standard notation staff even though the tab staff is looking normal. I copy/pasted music from a song’s GP6 version into a new GP7 score. Is that what’s messing this up?

they look like left hand fingerings to me - perhaps they were hidden in 6, but default display in 7? You can manually remove them though.

LOL yeah they are left hand fingerings I had added in GP6. I forgot they were there from before! The new GP7 interface looks strange compared to GP6 so I guess it messed with me. ;)

What about music that is not normal? What I mean is, some death metal, or metal music that I write is not always in the standard 4/4, 8/8 etc. sometimes it's played off set like: 11111 1111 11111 111 How would you write that? Because when I try it, GP highlights in red, telling me that there is an error. I am brand spanking new to GP 7.5 but use to us Tabit, Cool Edit Pro and use to write it all out in Notepad. So this is a learning curve for me. Thanks.

If you want to input notes on the staff, click on track in which you want to enter notes; open the inspector view and the track tab; in the Musical Notation section there are controls for toggling on/off Tab, Standard Notation, slash notation...

find "style sheet" in the file menu. on the "page and score format" tab adjust the "sizes" parameters. It is a bit tricky with the chord sizes and all, you have to play with it for a while.

Why Guitar Pro doesn't know how to do Golpes and Rasgueados properly? Golpes are marked with a Square (not a star / * ) And Rasgueados are also noted incorrectly on Guitar Pro. I love guitar pro. But There's a reason it's not industry standard. I hope this gets fixed!

Levi - you mention "saving your wrists"... I'm curious, since you're very technology-savvy, I'm wondering if you've experienced any repetitive-stress-related issues that has affected your playing? Personally, I'm a couple years shy of 50, but already experiencing some nasty CMC-joint pain (arthritis?) on my picking hand. I'm trying to take full advantage of the years I've got left before it makes its way over to my fretting hand. I've read horror story of people losing their ability to bar chords. And I STILL haven't learned how to sweep pick like Frank Gambale!! The horror! The horror!

I've been a software developer for close to 30 years now and I've started to experience something akin to "trigger finger" but in my case it's "scroll-wheel finger"! Like what you mention in the video, I've been sticking with keyboard shortcuts to avoid the mouse as much as possible... but there's been some real damage done. I guess at this point, I need to do everything possible to avoid further injury. So basically my right index finger and thumb are a mess right now. Take notice kids... be aware of computer ergonomics if you want some longevity in those hands/wrists/fingers!

Thomas Kelly there are options. Either a midi pickup, or a midi converter - but even then, the program just reads that as midi information. That doesn’t contain rhythmic value, where the note is played etc. A midi keyboard doesn’t have that problem. There’s only one place you can play middle C there.

Xleration Dynamics definitely advised. It’s 10 times the price, but functionally superior. The pro of guitar pro is that as a cheaper price of software, it’s something that students and clients will likely consider accessing which gives additional interactivity to things you make.
