Thank you so much. I had no idea that the tuners could be disassembled like this. I feel silly that I have wasted so much money over the years replacing tuners when I could have just repaired them.

I followed every step but sadly it didn't work 😢the string just keeps getting loose after a few turns. Looks like a need a new peg. Great video anyway!

What do i do if the cap that needs to be removed is made out of metal here, and simple knocking dont get it out.

Great vid, i have a german made warwick corvette and my tuner free wheeled, i used your vid to take the tuner apart (great hack getting the cap off) and realised that it wasn’t salvageable as the screw had sheered its thread. But I was able to replace it with another one and replace the cap. Instead of superglue which is a difficult chemical as its made some metals become white and powdered once dry, I used semi permanent thread lock (blue) and that has secured it with no mess and hopefully will be easier to pop the cap off in a few years time… thx again!

Oh my goodness! Thank you for your video! I thought I was going to have to make a 65 mile trip to get this fixed! (I live in a rural part of my state). Your video saved me the time,money and gas to travel. Bless you!

Thanks. I think my 20yr old Soundgear peg broke entirely but this is great info how to replace it.

Would this work for an enclosed “vintage” top-load tuner?

As this will probably also work on guitar tuners, I'll start by saying thank you for a great video and ask what stuff you would use to remove gunk from inside/outside a tuner?
@Wrigglyaudio10 ай бұрын
Thanks! I have done this same fix on a guitar tuner, so should work if you're having this issue. But hm ... what sort of gunk are we talking?
@BrotherBrownMusic10 ай бұрын
@@Wrigglyaudio Thank you for quick reply! It's mostly old oil/lube inside and dirt from playing on the outside.
@Wrigglyaudio10 ай бұрын
@@BrotherBrownMusic Fair warning, I'm totally guessing here. 🤔 But I'd start with something mild, like dish soap and water. Dry it well - maybe even hit it with a hair dryer in case of any leftover water, which maybe could lead to rust depending on the tuner. For stickier oils and glues, I usually have luck with Goo Gone. The bottle I have does leave a light oily film. But it usually makes quick work of tougher gunkier stuff.

one small problem…i can’t (for the life of me) unthread the stem. that thing is fused in there, same as the cap at the back. beginning to wonder if whoever owned my bass last used superglue.

Great video ! However my cap just won’t come off, no matter how hard I hit it, nor will the gear actually come out of the main component no matter how hard it pull or twist. Any tips? Or is it time to just buy a replacement tuner alltogether?
@Wrigglyaudio11 ай бұрын
Thanks! And bummer. 🙁 Maybe it's sealed. (Or maybe someone else watching this will have a tip.) But it's also a good excuse to buy some fancy locking or auto tuners. 🙂
