Me and my dad redrilled the tuner holes on an old guitar with a handrill, he insisted on helping out after watching my shit plan to convert 8mm holes to 10mm ones in my living room, and it was a mayor pain in the butt to get it done that way, watching this video convinced me that obeying Mark's tips is the smarter thing to do from now on
@TheStrykerProject2 жыл бұрын
I hear ya! Manual tools are cheaper and easier to store and take up less room, but nothing beats using the *correct* tool for the job. I don't know HOW many holes I've trashed trying to expand them by hand. 🤦♂
@MrAcEsNeIgHtS11883 жыл бұрын
Some time could you explain (or show in a future vid) how you made the different paint stands you use to hold the guitars? One looks like PVC. Both look like great alternatives to the "meat hook" method!
@TheStrykerProject2 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah! I'd also love to see more detail about the spray booth and tools used for painting (or any tools, for that matter)!

I’ve modded a couple of those Les Paul Specials and one of the things I like to do is move the toggle switch to the traditional LP location which leaves the control layout open to something more like the ESP/LTD Eclipse models. I like to have two volumes and a toggle because I use the toggle similar to your killswitch.
@TheStrykerProject2 жыл бұрын
I picked up the 'toggle as a kill switch' from Ace Frehley. 😀But John 5 first introduced me to a push button as a specialized kill switch on a guitar. It's a simple, but really cool effect.

@@TheStrykerProject I dont know how I go through as many guitars as I do and still have not been exposed to a push button killswitch. Gotta try one soon.

Mark, I love the show and I love your attitude. Thank you so much for sharing your skills! Was there ever a time when you just wanted to throw in the towel on painting and customizing guitars?

Great episode. My first guitar was an Epi LP too (circa 1995). I wanted silver sparkle (think Everclear Santa Monica), but it was pricier, so I got a burst. I'm making guitars now too and I can't bring myself to touch it. I'd LOVE to see you do a taped off EVH style guitar WITH crackle...combo texture. I've watched a bunch of your stuff and I don't think I've seen it. Link me if you've already done it! Keep up the GREAT work.

That Ice Crackle is my favourite for sure! As far as the guitar giveaway, you should do a video entry. People can nominate a kid they know and the kid (with parental permission to avoid any pesky laws about minors) has to work for it, explaining why they want it. If they're already a guitarist, maybe they can show off some skills they already have

Hey man, I really like your show! Have the kids send in a video of themselves playing there favorite riff/song, you weed out the top 10 or 5, get a poll going with all your viewer to choose a winner... I'd like to see that! If you're like me, it's only about shredding, I like a good rhythm groove as well.

Here’s a question that was spawned by a question you answered in this video. Would it be possible to put a 24 fret neck from a 25 1/2 scale on a body that would usual have a 22 fret 24 3/4 scale? The numbers can’t be too far off. Looks like you’ve got the parts to dry fit a few to see if it could work.

My 10 year old son and I love this channel- we have a few guitars we are modding with ideas from a few of your episodes! My idea for the kid/guitar give away. Post the tabs for one of your own songs riffs - have the kids submit (with parent permission/help) a quick video of them playing “your riff” and have your viewers vote. Specify the video be a close up of the strumming hand/guitar so no one’s face is I the video for privacy reasons….

hey, i’m saving up for an epiphone les paul custom and i was wondering what is the best way to refinish it ( full sparkle/glitter finish either black or red) or how much it would cost? thanks if you read this lol

Certain 24 fret guitar necks can be bolted on to a 22 fret guitar! As long as the both necks (the original 22 and the new 24 fretter) share the same 'butt' length. Meaning the extra 2 frets on the 24 overhang the 'regular' 22 fret neck length, if that makes sense. In order for this swap to be accomplished, the 24 fret neck HAS to have the longer fretboard, (with overhang) and the same length neck, at the butt end. There are plenty of them out there, that would work. You will also need to make sure that you have enough room, where your pickups are mounted. There are a lot of factors to consider, but it can be done!!

I think the idea of a kid getting a guitar is pretty sweet, man! I know my son really gets in on watching me play mine, and that would definitely be a contest I'd love to get involved in. He's 9, and I know a good guy that can give him lessons (not me, I'm not that good...). So, I play a game called Rocksmith to kind of learn some of the stuff I play (I take normal lessons too). Maybe have some kids learn a simple song on there, record it, and enter it. Or just learn a simple song and play along with the music in the background enter it in that way. You know, give them that first incentive to try, and see if they like it, and if they do, enter it, and they get a chance at a brand new guitar! I think it'd be neat to sit down with my son and have him learn a very simple song on my guitar and enter it into the fray!
