(FUN GUITAR FACT) Hetfeild's original V was not a Gibson. It is actually a copy, Probably Japanese, and has a bolt on neck. Over the years he has customized many times.

No, it is Electra, made in USA, and James' guitar has a glued neck. But yes, it's not a Gibson.

@@benburnett8109 Are you having a bad day Ben? This dude's obviously just an enthused hobbyist, not everybody can be a boutique luthier. I'm sure the 'masterpieces' comment was personal and not meant to be objective. He even mentioned how it was incredibly hard to do in one of his videos, how Trogly would rip him apart for the lack of details, and how most guitars are made with 10+ pairs of hands so its hard to take on the roles of painter, woodworker, etc. all at once.

I can practically hear the soul of that guitar scream out in redemption after you saved it from certain doom. To apply stickers to a guitar is adolescent in nature, but to tattoo them onto a classic guitar like this is just pure insanity. Thank you for giving it a second life, and what an amazing job you did here. 🎸✨

GuitarGuts, have you seen the Jackson video on FB of them spraying a crackle? After their base coat, yours being red here, and before they spray the black, same as yours here. They are spraying some type of clear lacquer or something before they spray the black to start the crackle? I'm wondering if that helps it develop the bigger crackles like they get. They're not waiting on the lacquer to dry at all and quickly start spraying the black right after. Just wondering if you seen this or if you've already tried it..

Other than the crackle paint it’s very well done. I’m not a crackle paint fan. But you do good work. I modify and build guitars too. More of the modifications part these days. Most of my guitars have some sort of modification done and yet I have a few that remain stock original. Glad to see someone else out there working on guitars with great passion. It’s a fun and creative adventure that is rewarding and sometimes challenging. Thanks for the ride. I’m a new sub.

I've always loved crackle (and alien blood spatter), AND I love Vs! Looks great, as always. I had a disappointing experience with Montana Hardcore spray paint. One, it spit tiny chunks a bit when spraying, but more frustrating was I sprayed Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover Satin Clear, which *melted* the spray paint (*after* a two week cure for the paint). What did I do wrong?!

Now would be a better idea if you don't have a painted black one there's a oxidized and what happens is it turns the metal black or dark just to let you know that it would help so if you Heather have a project like that and you don't have a black one what you can do is what is it does it oxidizes the metal and makes it dark or black like a machine gun color or a dark color to blend but it oxidizes the metal

Very nice job! I do have a question though... so many purists out there take issue with using polyurethane as opposed to nitrocellulose. Is there a reason you use poly instead? Does the crackle paint not work with nitro? With poly... you certainly won't get the sometimes desireable checking or discoloration over the years, but maybe a guitar like this doesn't need that. I guess I don't know. Thoughts??
@tommilitello198 Жыл бұрын
Imo all that checking makes a guitar look like trash,and some of the stuff those “purists” believe is laughable more than anything
