Buddy and his band were the opening act for John Mayall last night when I saw them live. Buddy has a serious set of pipes and can really play man. Very cool that he's touring with Mayall again. I noticed when Buddy was playing, John pulled up a chair at the side of the stage to listen to the show.

@maxwellfan557 жыл бұрын
Barside Jive. The venue was Truro, Cornwall England. Needless to say he went down well, everyone loved him and his band. I met him briefly afterwards, we talked 5 string fretless banjo and finger picks, and the name of Peter Green came up. Buddy was a gentleman, courteous and humble like he was in your interview.

I was able to see Buddy Whittington playing with John Mayall when they did a show/toured with the Peter Green Splinter Group at The Royal Albert Hall in the UK many years ago. Thought Buddy's playing was exceptional and to my ears the standout track, (what with the acoustics at the RAH) was "Mists OF Time".

Buddy Whittington being John Mayall's guitarist is what contributed to him being more well known, not Gary Moore.
@pheskesen6 жыл бұрын
Just seen this. Complete rubbish. The only person Gary Moore ever promoted was himself, though he was undoubtedly talented. Buddy was a name in Texas before he met John Mayall but it was 15 his years with the Bluesbreakers which gave him international fame. He did once support Gary Moore on tour - when Moore even stipulated how many people were allowed to play in Buddy's band.

Been eatin it since the early 80's when they would give you a cold glass of Lone Star beer while you stood in line waiting in the HOT Dallas sun. My logo neon sign that i designed for them still in the front window. Life has taken me far and wide for 40 years, but planning on gitten my bowl this summer.
