I really am excited for more new ‪@RenMakesMusic‬. This took a classic I grew up with and a pretty new song and made them mesh so well together. I loved this retake!

I emailed the valentino bar where this was filmed and suggested if it hadn't started already they would probably become a pilgrimage site for the millions of ren fans for any of them visiting brighton. i suggested they concoct a Ren cocktail, charge 25 pounds and give 5 pounds to rens rescue charity and 5 to ren to make more videos. . and that they should keep somewhere on their website a running total and each month a facsimile of the 2 checks. haven't heard back yet. the cocktails on their menu were 11 to 13 pounds.

Agree, the cocktail idea is excellent, but £25 is a bit steep for many, cost of living crisis and all that, maybe ask for a voluntary contribution to be added rather than a fixed amount.
@steveknutson5617
@steveknutson5617 3 ай бұрын
if their cocktails are 11 to 13 pounds for what seems like very complicated and specialty drinks, and extra 10 which is going to their favorite person and his charity doesn't seem like much. after all these aren't poor people coming to brighton and lounging in a fairly high-priced bar. avolutary contribution would defeat the purpose in my opinion. there are all kinds of extras i could envision- a special glass made with the sick boi logo and a box to put it in as a souvenir when it is empty. maybe with every ren drink you get a postcard of ren and gang from the taping, possibly autogrphed with one of the 5-singers, guitarist, ren and samuel. they would be in a sealed envelope and randomlyinclude a coupon for a ren merch. . Then when ren is living more time in brighton he could have unannounced appearances at the bar when he picks up the checks. can you imagine him playing freckled angels there?. This is all predicated on valeninos bar indeed becoming a destination for ren's fans. I just have a feeling it will. who wouldn't want to visit a place so cool, where ren has performed?@@bethstratton3391

Ren has very good singing technique. He sings from the diaphram which many singers don't and they just use their head voice. He also has a tonne of force and conviction behind what he's singing, which many singers don't. He is picky and appreciates what the source material, which many artists don't. When you can see the veins on his neck popping out you know he's serious. :)
@kellyt5341

Ren also has a "polyphonic" voice. He can break his voice into multiple pitches at the same time. Not a lot of singers can do that and sound clean, clear and stay on the correct pitch.

‘Oh, it’s over?’ My reaction, too! Agree with you REN’s voice is great, and his range is too. REN very often uses his thumb when playing. He’s self taught (off KZbin) so has some different ways to approach his playing. Whatever works, right? Great reaction. As a former guitarist, I like getting into the chords and such. I really like that Ren finger picks a lot, and plays acoustic.

Did you notice the flip of Sting's lyrics - Just a lonely day , an island lost that sea, as to Just a castaway an island lost that sea. Another castaway with no one here but me - Another lonely day with no one here but me.. At first I thought oh he got it wrong.. But it was intentional I think, cause flipping those words, still gave the phrases sense.. I hope he got a little more of Message in a Bottle to be honest. There's a clip of Ren busking Message in a Bottle out with Ruby J, you gotta see that. The woman's got soul!

Just love this track. The more I listen to it the more I live it. Ren is almost more Gordon Sumner than Sting, the flexibility in his vocals and his falsetto is fire. The way he switches mics is clever too. His voice so slick and full of food for the soul. These two tracks go together so well and Ren’s rap adds a cheeky element to the mix, I mean “turn Tina” is just so funny. The harmonies make this track for me. Sylvia and Scarlett were so on point, their timing excellent. The idea of history repeating and us never learning the lessons that community and respecting each other is worth always worth more than money and success. The side swipe to caddy daddies in the rap made me smile. Ren is saying don’t become someone for whom the status symbol car means more than the family. It impresses very few people and is just pandering to consumerist tropes. I have to disagree with what you said about Sting only being an OK singer, I think he’s super accomplished. Listen to more of his solo stuff and you might change your mind.
