You may notice Long and Mcquade on one of the story boards but I do not talk about them. The logo was put there on mistake and was supposed to be on another board. I didn't notice it on there until it was uploaded. I have blurred it to fix the issue. Should be updated soon

I'd still like to hear what you have to say about Long and McQuade, our Canadian version of Sam Ash, Guitar Center, and Sweetwater all rolled in to one.

@@jsewellgplus Long and McQuade. Great Return policy, including "no lemons". I laugh when people sell gear they just bought. At L&M, just return it. I've extended the warranty on a used Ibanez Prestige for 6 years, for $17 and get a Free Setup once a year. Twice a string change made the bridge tremolo system go out of whack. Bring it in, get it back playing perfect in a day or two

In Canada we have Long and Mcquade and Tom Lee as the two big chains country wide. L and M has yorkville sound and Traynor.
@dnc1769
@dnc1769 5 жыл бұрын
@@HeviNova I know in Alberta, they have Axe Music which has pretty decent prices. Tom Lee however, I think is only in BC. L&M basically swallowed up a lot of the independant guitar shops around, so unless you want to go to a pawn shop, they're more or less the only game in town.
@BruceCook87
@BruceCook87 5 жыл бұрын
I think an outside look at Long and McQuade would be interesting. The Long family still owns L&M and, unlike US retailers, owns their largest distributor Yorkville - Yorkville is like Canadian Peavey. They own a bunch of offshore brands like ART Electronics, Apex Microphones AND they manufacture stuff in Canada like Traynor amps. They also make all the speaker equipment for IMAX theatres worldwide. They distribute about 1/3 of everything that L&M sells (Gibson, Hughes and Kettner, Universal Audio, Line 6, KRK)... Anti-trust laws would prevent a relationship like this in the USA but in Canada it’s all fair game.

some others that i think are interesting. Schecter owns "Daisy Rock girl guitars". Dean, Luna guitars (and those popular "tattoo" ukuleles) and DDrum are all owned by the same company Armadillo Enterprises. and ESP does the distribution for Takamine in north America. It's cool to see how everything gets connected.

I was wondering who owned Washburn, I've owned many guitars over the last 35 years or so, some of them expensive and really nice, some cheap and really nice. I recently grabbed a used Washburn J3 for £200 in mint condition. What an absolutely splendid guitar, the tone, craftsmanship and finish are absolutely top notch , what a beautiful guitar. I shall be looking out for Washburn in the future they are absolutely serious.

I had a few of them through the years and they made great solid wood guitars in the USA for really good prices. Hey Phillip ! As you mentioned, it happens all the time. I've been in the recording/electronics industries in the late '70s and have seen lots of changes since then. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the not so good... As long as the business aspect does not kill the soul and the core spirit of a brand, it's ok. I would hate to see great brands we know and love being chopped down and their quality sacrified to productivity as we sadly see it happen too frequently. Cheers !
