People say whatever they want about him. There are dozens if not hundreds fantastic guitar players and guys like Paul Gilbert or Buckethead are or another level of what you can do with this instrument but all of these years after he got established I can still hear a song that I have never heard before and know Slash wrote that. He released several albums outside of Guns n Roses. I have to say I don't own all of his albums he did with Meyles Kennedy, so I still sometimes here a song that I have never heard before and you can instantly say when he wrote a song and that can't be said about nearly any other famous guitar player.
@100chuckjones8 жыл бұрын
I do believe his 59 SuperLead had a lot to do with his sound on AFD. but I also believe it was Clink who found a great EQ, Compression, Fit in the mix sound that we all know and love. in other words, I think Slash had the perfect combo of guitar and amp...but more importantly, he had the right tools and producer (all the way from Mic placement, to PreAmps, to tape compression. a lot of things had to go perfectly right..and they did. all the stars aligned for that album and its recording production. you had the right band, the right sound, the right engineer. what a lot of people also fail to include in this path is "what cab was he using + what speakers were in that cab"

when Appetite came out, it changed the way i thought about guitar (as a fledgling guitarist). the way that Izzy and Slash complimented each other (like in this song) was like something that i had never heard before. they kind of danced around each other. true story - i was 14 when this album came out. i bought it at a Record Bar with my mom driving me to the mall. on the ride home, i opened the CD and started looking through the booklet. out of the corner of her eye, my mom caught the Robert Williams poster inside and launched the CD out the window of our 1983 Chevy Celebrity! i quickly asked friends for a cassette copy and it instantly became one of my (STILL) fav albums of all time. and this is one of my fav songs of all time.
