That last check by Gukesh actually threatens Qxe4 should the king have gone to h7, opening up a an attack on Ding’s queen if the pawn were to recapture. I just find it so cool that Ding had the ability to blunder even on the very last move of the game.

Killer preparation by Ding, winning with the black pieces 🥶🥶

I dont think that is the prep considering ding spend like 30 min on the move h5. Ding win because he play the middle game briliantly and outplay gukesh. In the opening for me gukesh looks more prepared he looks more confident and play instanly

Thanks for explaining the ...Qd4 answer to Qxh7. What I was missing was what happens if White declines to take the Queen and instead moves his king. I don't recall other commentators mentioning ...Qxh4. (In fairness, it's possible they mentioned it and my brain didn't register what they said.)

There is no controversy about Magnus not playing: Magnus is not the world champion nor was he the winner of the last candidates tournament, he does not have to play this match. Magnus is a nearly retired player now.
@jackgulley57892 ай бұрын
A lot of ppl think that it isn’t a true representation of a world championship if the best player in the world isn’t participating. So to say there is no controversy simply isn’t true
@facundodiaz65472 ай бұрын
@@jackgulley5789 ah controversy means that many people think? ok. Magnus may be able to perform at a very high level in a tournament or two, but by giving up the title he showed that he is not capable of competing at this level (in more demanding competitions like the candidates tournament or this 14 game match against another player who is in top form) Magnus gave up the title because he is too proud to lose it on the board
@jackgulley57892 ай бұрын
@@facundodiaz6547 “controversy: a prolonged public dispute or debate, usually about a matter of conflicting opinions.” So yeah, if there are a lot of people on both sides of the topic it literally is a controversy by definition regardless of your standing
@facundodiaz65472 ай бұрын
@@jackgulley5789 Friend, there are 8.2 billion people in the world, there are many people who have absolutely any opinion (like the earth is flat). Many children posting things on Twitter can make it a trend, but that doesn't make it a real debate, sorry.

@@facundodiaz6547 so I guess the opinions of GMs like Kasparov are the same as randoms on twitter claiming the earth is flat? what a weird equivalency to try and make…I’m not even arguing either side here I’m just pointing out that it is controversial within the chess community idk how you can deny that regardless of how you feel
