I have tried gulab jamuns a million times n failed more so often....and finally ur recipe has done the trick for me...never have I come across adding sooji in this recipe...but I guess ur right in saying that it absorbs the excess moisture....Thank u so so much....I have even tried most of ur diwali specials and they have all worked out wonderfully....please keep posting more recipes.....Thank u once again...

I visited India last year, one of the tour helper brought me to the street and got me this. Absolutely delicious, a great tidbit and dessert.

Had this for the first time 2 yrs ago and fell in love .at first glance it looks like a beignet or Nigerian puff puff. But the taste and texture are waaay different. And better :)

I tried this receipe...Madhura your receipe is perfect one i don't see any chances of its failure all jamuns came out so pretty keep posting like this..u are fabulous !! In your rabri receipe instead of evaporated milk can i use condensed milk if yes then how plz reply and thank u so much !!

Its the first time the jamuns did not crack. It had evenness in colour. So soft and yummy. My hubby just loved it. He could not wait for over an hour to eat it. Me too have enjoyed preparing it in just the time you specified. Economical. Now i need not buy the readymade stuff any more. Thanks.

Madhura I made it and came out good, I use 3/4 cup of sugar it was very sweet so I will reduce, my shape was odd, but they taste great. I wanted to share my photos with you please get an Instagram I looked for you but your not there pls make one love ur recipes thank you

What brand of milk powder you used? Whenever I tried it melts in the oil while frying :(

Will surely try this recipe and we used to get the canned ones, as I was unable to find khoya here at the Indian store , thanks dear for such a wonderful recipe which does not make use of khoya ... :)

Hi Madhura. I've seen some recipes use yogurt (dahi). Is there a reason you do not use it? Also, does the lemon juice make it taste sour? I would like to try your recipe. the other recipe I used did not turn out well.

Madhura can u share a gulab jamun recipe with full fat milk like nido? Everyone uses non fat milk which is instant but for me its not available..

Madhura ji, I followed this exactly the way you showed. I first made the dough and then realized that oil was not hot enough so waited 15 mins, meanwhile the dough became too dry so added milk to it again. The oil was too hot by then so the first set of jamuns fried very fast but then slowed the stove and fried other jamuns. The final product was dry and spongy and not as soft or smooth as I wanted. Also the size of jamuns didn't increase in the syrup after an hour. Is it because I messed up with the dough and then oil temparature? Suggestions please (I want to be the best gulab jamun maker at least in my friend circle :))

I am still waiting for the answer. To add - I used one cup sugar and one cup water for the syrup, NIDO milk powder for dough. The syrup seemed to have not reached the inside of the dumplings which were not too hard but not too soft as well. Only once I know the mistake I can try to improve it.

if you skip the baking soda the gulab jamun wont be rounded enough it might remain small
