Ingredients
1 cup nonfat milk powder
1/4 cup all purpose flour (plain flour, maida)
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup heavy cream, use as needed
1/4 teaspoon cardamom coarsely ground
For Syrup
1-1/2 cup sugar
1-1/2 cup water
Oil to fry

Dear Manjula, I first started watching cooking videos on youtube with your channel, I found a recipe I liked and after that I couldn't stop watching your videos. Now I was looking for other cooking channels on youtube (I am a vegan/vegetarian) and I have to say I could not find one channel that convinced me as much as yours. Thank you! I really enjoy watching your videos. The recipes are great, you explain each one of them and you seem to be the most relaxed and friendly "youtube" cook I've found so far- so I decided it is not worth spending my time with the search for other good cooks, I will just stay with you because you are the best! :)

1 C milk powder (non-fat), 1/4 C Flour, 1/8th tsp baking soda, 1/4 tsp cardamon powder, 1/2 C cream (heavy), 1 1/2 C sugar, 1 1/2 C water. Combine dry ingredients -(not sugar & water) in a bowl and mix well. Add heavy cream to make a sticky dough. Set mixture aside 10 minutes. Knead dough well and divided into 16 parts. Roll in a ball shape. To make the sugar sauce, add sugar with the water and bring to boil. Deep fry the balls in hot oil and not overcrowd them because they will double in size. Make sure to continually turn the balls and in 6 minutes they should be brown and ready. Must let them cool for 10 minutes before add them into the syrup. Syrup need to be on low heat before you add the balls. Soak them 20 minutes in syrup before serving them.

I used to love these! I wonder if I can use soy milk powder & coconut cream instead of the dairy....I guess I'll never know unless I try! Thanks for sharing all your videos Manjula's Kitchen. I started following you long before I even thought about going vegan. Just knowing about your vegetarian recipes helped me when I made my switch from meat-eater to totally plant-based. Vegan cooking just didn't seem that hard because I was already familiar with vegetarian cooking, thanks in part to you. I hope you continue to make these lovely videos

Thanks for the recipe. This helped me make some Gulab Jamun for Eid and everyone loved it! I just had a hard time with the dough at first. For some reason it did not dry up after 10 minutes, I added more milk powder and slowly got a dough like texture that wasn't so sticky. But they tasted great. Thanks again for your yummy recipes and step by step instructions. Hope to try some more soon.

The temperature of oil tip was helpful! When I didn't pay attention, they came out hard. But this time I adjusted the oil temperature and it made a big difference . Thanks Manjula!

Dear Manjula, Can I use Nido milk powder? I think that is full fat, therefore, could I use normal milk in that case? Or should I still use cream. I have followed many of your recipes, thank you so much, and God bless

I always like to use a thermometer when I deep fry. Can you tell us the temperature the oil should be at? I don't like to rely on my judgement when a few degrees in the wrong direction can ruin a dish.

hello manjula I tried making the gulab jamun initially it worked good for me for about 2 to 3 times. but now when m trying them again with some ghee n thickened cream , my gulab jamun is not coming up all the rolls disintegrate in the oil😔😔

One thread consistency syrup will be achieved once the syrup cools down. If u boil it till one thread consistency, the syrup will crystallize once it cools

some differences Instead using butter and milk I used just the heavy cream, also taste is little difference

I had asked you a question that I did not get an answer for. It was that I followed your recipe for gulab jamun with heavy cream. My dough was still dry so I added little milk. Gulab jamuns came out ok but they were not holding the round shape. They got flat. Can you please tell me what was I doing wrong. Thanks.
