Gulzar translates Tagore's poems

President Pranab Mukherjee recently released two books by Rabindranath Tagore which were translated in Hindi by renowned poet and lyricist Gulzar. 'The Gardener' and 'The Crescent Moon' are a compilation of poems from some of Tagore's most famous collections of verses. The original Bengali version and an English version of the poems are printed alongside Gulzar's inimitable translations.

It is adorable that being a non Bengali he is a lover of Tagore .The Bengalis who do not go through the poetry of Tagore should learn from him.

Gulzar saab loved Tagore so much that he learnt how to read and write Bangla too (to read the originals and not just translations). His mentor was Bimal Roy and worked a lot with Hrishikesh Mukherjee. He tells that he loved Bengali so much that he later married a Bengali (Rakhee) :)

Gulzar himself is also without equal in his field and like Tagore, his words will live on long after he has taken his last breath.

Kindly stand corrected, Gulzar Sahib is poet of Hind-Sind, Indus Civilization. You say that he stole the book while he informs that the book was unlikely given to him by the book seller. The difference of opinion should be bridged up.
