Today a Wolf showed up and the dog park and was extremely friendly and submissive with the dogs and humans. She really wanted to be friends with my Husky, Nevaeh, and she showed her some Wolf affection. (As the subtitles say, she is a high content Wolfdog, not a pure Wolf, and her beautiful name is actually "Kurenai" ).
This channel exists in order to educate people about dog and wolf behavior at dog parks.
If you want to know more about these awesome Wolfdogs please check out their Instagram 👉 / kernvalleywolfdogs

Different kinds of athleticism.

It has to be said that people should never breed German shepherds or any kind of a guard dog with a wolf. You can get some really messed up behaviors. Safest bet if you are intending to create a hybrid which is probably not a good idea, is a husky or malamute because they are the closest in behavior to the wolf. How do I know this? I worked at a wolf sanctuary for 8 years and became the sanctuary manager. All the hybrids we had, had varying degrees of issues because of their mixes. It's never a good idea to mix a wolf with anything. Not saying we should destroy any of the ones that exist now but we should absolutely stop breeding them. Let wolves be wolves and dogs be dogs.

@@CrazyDeeDee You do realize any dog can be food aggressive if you don't raise them to be submissive?
@CrazyDeeDee
@CrazyDeeDee 4 жыл бұрын
@@pmadood6970 you are right about that but you have to understand something else. Guard dog breeds have an instinct to come up to you when you look at them in the eyes. They don't shy away, they feel challenged. With a wolf, you are safe because when you look at a wolf in the eyes they tend to put distance between the two of you. They run away. They don't like the challenge and they air on the side of personal safety and flee. When you take that fear away from a wolf you can have a serious problem on your hands. The wolf dog might be okay with you but if you bring someone over there not used to they might attack. Not in all cases of course but you increase the likelihood of an attack or a bite when you take something that has been bred for hundreds of years to challenge humans and to attack on command and you breed it with something that for thousands of years has survived because of fearing man. Wolves have twice the bite pressure of a German Shepherd. You don't want to give that power to an animal that might have inherited some chemical imbalance from hybridisation. I've seen it before and it's an absolute nightmare. Wolf hybrids that are bred with guard dogs rarely end up being suitable for households.

@@AshOkami Read after me: "Wolfdog". It's a cross between a wolf and a domesticated breed, in this case a German Shepherd. She's blowing her coat which happens twice a year with most double coated breeds. We have a wolfer that is 47.3% Grey Wolf, 20% GSD, 18.2% Malamute, 14.5% Husky (yes, we had her DNA tested by Embark). She just turned 4 so still has a full year before considered an adult wolfdog. But back to your point....no, not all wolves coats are "full and fluffy looking". I've got vids on my channel of our girl, and you can see she's not fluffy. The pup in this video would probably rank as a 'high content' if the breeding info is accurate, which is amazing considering she's so personable and outgoing. She was raised right and well socialized. Ours is only considered a mid content, but is nowhere near as outgoing as the one in this vid. She's got your typical wolf behaviors, which means "humans are bad until I get to know you". She's very elusive and aloof around new people.

Yeah wolves were maybe a little too social hundreds of years ago when they would sneak into your village and eat peoples babies and kill everyone there are reasons humans have eradicated wolves over centuries and its not because they think they would look good as a jacket its because they are predators and will never lose that wild instinct and when your a pack animal anything is fair game. I'm not saying it should still happen today because we have things in place now to protect us now.

Maybe not "extremely submissive", she's being like that so other dogs would accept her in the "pack". She's quite a shy girl judging by how her tail is tucked even with the other dogs. Maybe she's still getting used to socializing with other dogs. But nevertheless, she looks like a good girl.

Depending on a mix of mentality and how firmly their raised the submissive nature isn’t bad, if she shows away from dogs or her owner then that’d be a possible sign of abuse, but she seems really happy, so in my unprofessional opinion she’s well taken care of.

Before everyone sees this video and decides “All wolfdogs are like this, I want one!” I ask you to hold up. Would you be capable of taking care of a wild animal? Many times the answer is no and thousands of wofdogs are killed in shelters each year for it. I do not recommend getting one unless you have years of research and experience owning and wildlife. If you want a wolf looking animal, I recommend getting a husky. Still, do your research on any animal you decide to get. Edit: Let me stress this. Huskies are a lot of work. A. LOT. Don’t get a husky just because of it’s appearance. Heck, if you don’t even have the time to research into how much care the breed needs, then don’t get a dog at all.

TundraTheOreo a husky is actually a wolf & not just “wolf looking”. And a husky is very hard to deal with so imagine dealing with a wolf dog being only 10% dog. People should just stop breeding wolves like this, they’re wild animals.
