I live in Texas. Ammo has been plentiful and for great pricing this past year compared to previous years. This sounds to me like a manufacturer trying to take advantage of an upcoming election season to both scare and gouge customers.

If you need it, buy it. Dollar-cost averaging applies to stocks AND ammo. Buy a box or two every week. Before long you’ll be well-stocked and won’t need to panic buy.

Every time I hit the range I shoot at least 3 or 4 boxes worth. A box or two a week would leave me at a deficit. Only way that works is if you don’t shoot all that much.

My company represents several 100 manufacturers and almost every one has gone up around 8% every year since 2020. These are safety related products. A few have gone up 16%-20% every year since 2020 and these are major publicly traded companies. I hate ot as much as everyone but it's not just the ammo world.

Don't know why there should be a shortage, all sources show global nitrocellulose propellant production is on target, no shortages expected globally. So what's the glitch here? All powders are imported except for the ball powders produced (mostly for the military) at St Marks in Florida, who reported no shortages expected. Our powders come from Australia, Canada, Belgium, Sweden, Finland and probably some others I've overlooked. Edit: France! Sorry!

I'm not sure. But I do know there have been lumber shortages while there were still plenty of tress. Nitrocellulose is not the only think in powder. I don't necessarily trust Vista, but I haven't seen any evidence they are lying yet.

@@2aEdu Nitrocellulose is just chemicals and a process, the most common materials in industry. Double base include nitroglycerin, super cheap to make, and graphite. Some powders have a few other modifiers. The expense has to do with risk, and the difficulty of getting a batch just right. Also EPA regulations (that forced the making of stick powders out of the country, not economically feasible.)

We see the range almost every week...what we have done is cut back on the number of rounds expended...example: .38 special...we don't need to shoot a box every week, not even once a month...currently shoot 12 rounds once a month, just to keep the feel...it's a revolver, rocket science does not apply...our 9mm getting 30 rounds a month, same principle applies...we can, and do, shoot several hundred .22, trigger time is trigger time...don't go with 'perishable skill', that is nonsense...anyone who has ever aimed and squeezed the trigger does not forget how to do it...
