The distributers and the manufacturers have nothing to stock the shelves with . My best friend owns a huge gun shop and he has all the ammo connects ,also I got another buddy that owns a pawn shop. They have been told that after what you see on the shelves is gone then it will be a very long time or maybe never see 556/233 ever again. A lot of factors plays into it. Bottom line it doesn't matter what everyone says go out and look for yourself. If you see it and you need it grab it . 223/556 in my area has been nonexistent for about 3 weeks now. I live in the TRI state area of 3 states and there is none to be had. Only one pawnshop that I know of has any and in August it was 55$ for 125 Winchester valor now it's 100$. Highway robbery. The prices shot up overnite after HAMAS invaded Israel. I had a case of ammo in a shopping cart Friday night. By Monday night when I went to purchase, it had increased $130. There was still ammo available to buy. There's plenty of ammo in the pipeline and supply chain. The retailers and manufacturers are getting greedy now. Maybe it starts with manufacturers and retailers are afraid they will lose big, but we're nowhere near the levels of buying we saw in 2020-2021. There is no reason we should be out of ammo already, and no freaking reason that prices should have spiked from near pre pandemic lows to middle of pandemic highs in 72 hours. The market is trying to capitalize on the panic. That's all.

Good explanation. A while back I worked in manufacturing and you are right, there are a lot of steps between a manufacturer trying to guess future demand (often months in advance), order raw materials and the finished product showing up on the shelves. The distributers and major retailers also play the guessing game. Nobody wants to be sitting on a bunch of inventory that they have paid for but cannot sell, so they tend to be cautious. When demand spikes from a panic, the small buffer capacity disappears, which fuels further panic. Several primary ammo manufactures like Hornady in vested in new manufacturing equipment and the buildings to house it. They lose a lot of money if they let that equipment sit idle, so they want to produce as mush ammo as they can.

From my perspective, I am in the category of being a food prepper. However during this past year, the store shelves have been stocked to the point of I no longer feel so insecure over stocking up on food. So what happened, I traded one insecurity for another when the ammo shortage news started coming out. All this press about a shortage lit a fire under my butt to go out and really stock up. Otherwise I was just content to wait until next year some time to buy and get prepped in the ammo dept. But lets face it, more and more people are prepping for SHTF, and the current shift might be now that other food only preppers and trying to get their ammo stocked. It's a new sales market, and I hope supply does catch up to demand, but honestly, I don't believe that it will.

Buying one or two boxes is what Fudds do; It takes at most 5 rounds for their entire season - 3 rounds to sight in their scope and 2 shots at most to get their deer. But it's far better for gun owners to regularly go to the range and expend many rounds in practice plus whatever they shoot for fun - and, hopefully, they are having lots of fun. With millions of new shooters, and each war or mass shooting brings in many more, perhaps millions, of new shooters, then the demand absolutely should go up and shooters should be buying by the case or more; anyone who isn't buying that many isn't being a responsible gun owner. So, I do appreciate you telling us that you prefer customers who buy a box or two at a time. When I need a box or two (never) I will consider Firearms Depot since you've said that's the space in which you want to work. When I want to buy by the case, I'll deal with those sellers who want to sell by the case or even multiple cases. Thanks for your honesty, though, Elmer.

It’s not shortage , the price is just going to go up .. You can’t have the whole company to stop other calibers and focus on just one cal, it’s a cycle , they make certain ammo for a bit then change to another cal , and then once the order is complete then they’ll ship them out .
@colt2206 Жыл бұрын
Well it just makes sense that during wartime there is going to be limited if any ammo for sale to civilians. It’s going to be in short supply and it is going to be going to the military and not civilians
@mrcz7575 Жыл бұрын
Never forget this started with people hoarding graphic cards and Playstation 5s done with online purchasing programs. I cant ever blame people for panic buying after that. No one helped the public then, why would the public exspect to be helped later? 🤷🏿♂️

Imo, this sounds like he is trying to justify a large price increase that is upcoming Also, he says the source that the video doesn’t know anything, but goes on to say he doesn’t know if they are accurate or not. The video in question said that the worker talked to management and that is the person who said the trailers are full of ammo. Why would management tell someone that? He also has no explanation as to why this shortage just came about in the last few weeks
@Chumlee1000 Жыл бұрын
He also says buying direct from manufactures. Then says it has to go from manufacturer to distributors to local stores. All 4 local gun shops have told me they have to go thru the distributors now, no more ordering from manufacture. That's on ammo and reloading components.

I think ammo prices will continue to rise due to the cost of acquiring all the resources to make ammo is getting more and more costly. Add that to panic buying and we are gonna see record prices for ammo. Its worth buying simply for investment purposes and leverage for goods and services services in the future

One place I go to said isn't a shortage yet but may be a lil wonky in the near future though he diddnt seem to concerned and another that sells ammo Hella pricy told me his distributor is saying there are issues.

Excellent explanation sir, thank you very much. PS glad I just bought a new Ruger PC9 Carbine from Budsgunshop because I have plenty of 9mm ammo and a lot of it is still available at my local Gun shop, of course, my rifle is just for home defense.

I agree 100% with you on this . Although Vista may have sold thier ammo division it doesn't mean it won't make it back to noth America.. I do believe the government is influencing the movement of some of the ammo to benefit thier own needs. People have been buying up ammo like crazy / hoarding since the beginning of the pandemic and prior to since the last elections in both the U.S and Canada due to tje the government trying to remove the right to own firearms. So many factors , so many issues
@alexmunn5321 Жыл бұрын
Folks manufactures are not going to overstock thier ammo either .. it has to move for them to stay in business. Of they have the materials to make it , it is going to ship somwhere and hopefully not over seas .. but it has to sell for them to make money bottom line .If it's held up it is in transport and sales .

So no 90 day halt, or Foreign Company Purchase? Wait so when I went to a local gun shop The owner. Desperately hunting down 7,000 more Rounds of 556.. With no luck, or showing sold out. That was on Monday

I'm down here in the north of Houston area. There's no ammo shortage whatsoever. There's a local indoor gun range with literally 1000k round cases of 9mm stacked up on the showroom floor. Now, if you live in po-dunk central with one Academy and a Walmart, your choices may be limited. Especially with those local boys (ie buddy fuckers) lined up outside before opening to rush in, buy it up and turn around to sell it for a profit. You know who you are.

Thats how all these so-called "shortages" appeared. People got helicopter money - bought everything on the shelves - shelves are empty. But not because there was less stuff. There was more money and geed.
