Some are good. Stoeger makes great Autoloaders, and with a little cash, I made mine every bit as good as a Benelli (of which I own a SBE3) and close to my A400. Stoeger makes TERRIBLE Over/Unders. I have an Akkar Churchill 206 Sport Adjustable. I paid 1500$cdn for it, and after very little modification, its every bit as good as my 525 Field. There are lots of bad turkinsh guns. Some are decent, and most of the decent can be made excellent with a little money. Especially the Stoeger, since Benelli springs, pins, bolts, etc can be swapped out. 650$ into my Stoeger, and it turned out to be an excellent competition autoloader. The Magpull stock made a world of difference. Its almost as good as my A400 , which is far more expensive and has far more money it.

The Turkish arms industry has developed incredibly in the last 10 years. Shotgun hunting guns have become very popular, especially due to the laws in Turkey that prohibit the use of rifled guns, and the manufacturers have improved a lot in this regard. Currently, Turks are supplying shotguns to every country in the world and all countries of the world like these guns very much in terms of price-performance.

Jonny, this is brilliant! This is a very good lecture on the history and industry of gunmaking, especially that it is very difficult to do in the context of national, cultural and racial sensitivities. More power to you, Man. What you do opens minds and disseminates large-perspective knowledge. My question, however, is this: if all shotguns now owned in the world killed one bird, would there be any birds left in the world? If all shotguns shot 1000 clays, what would be the effect on lead and metal and plastic pollution? Production of guns is so massive that most people who now own guns do not shoot them at all. They remain as status symbols and unused 'home defense' heirloom that the next generation does not want. This is in fact a glut in the making that will depress the price of even the most treasured pieces. Investing in a gun, as used to be done, has no future. And let's not get near the topic of the social crisis, where the proliferation of guns may very well become a catastrophe in itself, generating escalations of counter-effects. Guns will have to shift to a harmless ballistic where innocuous light beams will replace bullets and pellets in sporting competitions. Hunting is right now becoming socially repulsive as it attacks the little nature that is left. Guns as we know them are about to take a huge change. The over-and-under, as well as the hunting rifle, has passed the curve of its apogee in production. The next giant of gunmaking will not be making what we now call a rifle or a shotgun. It will be an altogether new thing, more akin to videogaming. As for weapons of war, gun powder-powered guns of any type will be a thing of the past in 50 years. As you say, things change. The thing is that they change faster now than ever did before. Mark your words! Cheers!

Great video! Recently fired a couple of shots out of a CEO Trust (Turkish manufacture) UO that had DT11'esque crossbolts, was well adorned, came in a very well presented case with a drop out trigger group and a spare trigger group. That I believe was going for a fraction of a DT price, shot quite nicely but the cost would still get you a lot of gun in some other more well known brands, it will be interesting to see how that brand goes? It certainly opened my eyes a little to Turkish guns.

I bought new Miroku MK38 sporter in October 2019 and have shot about 5000 to 6000 cartriges throug it so far. What i want to know is how long will it last me if i shoot 800 to 1000 cartriges a month? is it same for game guns?

Been shooting clays weekly (and weakly!) for around 18 months cleaning gun after each session but never had the stock off or attempted to clean and service the action. Now seems like as good a time as any! Any chance of a vid on this over the next few weeks? Ask to see a Huglu HT-14 sporting.I know that they usually produce crappy stuff but this had quality writen all over it.I couldn't believe the fit and finish for a Turkish gun.The stock was at grade 3+,it has a completely adjustable stock both on cheek and the entire pad on the back can be adjusted up and down but also left or right.You can literaly bring it exactly where you want it!!!My only question would be the quality of the firing mechanism which is mechanical!!!All this for about 1.500 euro!!!!!!!!!!!If what i saw was made in Germany ,it would cost 3 and maybe 4 times more money.I was really impressed for a Turkish gun.Only disadvantage i saw was its weight,at 3,85 kilos!

Excellent video and really pertinent. I myself am at a crossroads as to a shotgun purchase. Should I go Italian and buy a Beretta or Rizzini? Or should I buy a Browning? To be honest, an ATA Engraved fit me the best off the shelf, but it does bot mean any of the other could not be custom fit? I do have a tendency to go for the underdog, so the ATA might get my vote, but would I regret it 10 years from now? (Bare in mind that resale value is a non-issue. In South Africa we license the firearm and not the person, so once bought, you tend to not sell it again)

If you look closelly, ATA over and under are made with Beretta' s design, whose locks make the receiver stronger and lighter than Browning. I'm still using my dad's Beretta over and under, bought in 1962. If you look at the barrels, They are still a mirror. Never did any work on it, never changed a single piece.

Greetings from Canada,love the channel BTW. Having access to Chinese firearms for a long time they are NOT quality firearms, they have had the time to improve, they haven't they are cheaply made and even in some cases unsafe to use(M305 for example) after owning several I wouldn't buy again. Turkey already makes shotguns for Winchester and other bigger companies. Huglu makes some very nice over under under guns for the price and some very interesting engraving.

I have three Shotguns made in Huglu Turkey and imported into the US by CZ-USA. A 20 Gage O/U, a 12 gage SxS, and a 12 gage semi. In terms of design and mechanics they are the Equal of Beretta. All 3 pattern very well, function perfectly and both double barrels have identical POI at 30 yards with both barrels. I will also note that the wood on my O/U would be a Beretta grade 3 and the SXS features wood that would fit well on a EELL. Weaknesses are really a bit nit picky. That is the checkering. No attempt at all is made to produce pyramidal points, what you get are laser engraved lines in a checkered pattern. The diamonds are 100% flat topped. On the plus side those lines are easy to follow with a single point checkering file so a few hours of work will result in a hand checkered shotgun. BTW, I have been inside both my Beretta 686's and both of my CZ shotguns and find that CZ follows the Beretta design somewhat closely but they are different. One difference is the CZ's feature mechanical triggers. Quality "under the Bonnet" shows that both lines of shotguns are quite well made using modern CNC machining centers. Both lines of O/U shotguns also feature a Trunion hinge design but the CZ O/U is a bit fussy to assemble while the 686 can be assembled blindfolded. Sum it all up and the Turkish shotguns imported by CZ are very close to being the equal of the Beretta 686 lineup. In 2018 there was a disparity of about 1100 dollars or a bit more between Beretta's 686 and the CZ line, in 2020 prices for the CZ lineup has risen by about 50% so they aren't quite the bargain they once were. I'll also note that if CZ really wants to step up to Beretta's level they really need to do something about the quality of their checkering.
@fullchoke01
@fullchoke01 3 жыл бұрын
No offence but in no way shape or form are huglu double guns comparable to 686, cnc machines allow makers to form decent guns, but the materials used, the finishing on those materials, overall design and geometry are miles apart, huglu fills a gap in low end of market and make guns like ata, kofs etc to a budget, a silver pigeon is over priced yes, but huglu is a long ways off the quality marker. The main reason we see these budget guns rise in price is because they are sold to break even at best to flood the market, then after many buy into the fact you can get a decent looking shotgun that goes bang for little they jack it up to make money on it, it still costs a lot to make an over under

Nowhere near it, its an ok gun for the money as is my ata, my ata is a decent gun but again there are levels to these guns

@@fullchoke01 I shoot with a very good Skeet shooter who is class A in 12, 20, & 410 and AA in 28 gauge. His goto gun for shooting the 28 is his backup gun which is also his 12 gauge shooter, a 12 gauge CZ Teal/Redhead Premier that he buffed the black powder coating off of. Note, under that powder coating he found a very well executed Nickle finish. The reason he uses it for the 28 is because the top tube for his receiver barreled 682 is a bit off. We keep bugging him to send it to Briley to get it corrected but doing that requires him to send both the receiver barrel and tube set to Briley. Since it shoots perfectly with the 20 and 410 he just doesn't want to give it up for a month. So, when Mike is shooting a Registered shoot or a tournament the CZ gets used for 12 gauge and 28 gauge. It also sees a lot of use in practice. So here we have a CZ that sees 4 to 8 rounds of Skeet every weekend and in 3 years it hasn't even a hint of looseness in the joint. It's also never failed to fire. BTW, if it's over 30 degrees F we are shooting, so it's been nearly 3 solid years of shooting nearly every single weekend. Basically it has proven to be just as trustworthy as a Beretta. That isn't bad for a shotgun purchased on sale for 499.95. So, while it may not prove to be a durable as a Beretta it's probably be 20 years or so before we will know. So one thing these guns are NOT is junk.
@fullchoke01
@fullchoke01 3 жыл бұрын
@@Scooter-dm3qo never said they where total junk mate just there are levels to shotguns and gun to gun they are not on the beretta level, turkish shotguns are unfortunately very hit and miss with their production runs and quality control of their budget end but that goes hand in hand with budget guns you can't have top quality engineering, tooling etc and qc for the low cost. but as i said for the money they are decent "if" you get a good one, i would happily shoot a yildiz pro over an entry level beretta-great guns, happy shooting

I do not know where you get your knowledge from ? In the 18th and early 19th centuries the British had built very qualitative guns, but in the 21st century only scrap metal is produced, while Turkey is able to build excellent weapons nowadays. See i.e the MPT-76. This rifle is the only one that meets all NATO standards. I have examined and tried few british weapons, most of them I have sold again. They look good but the precision and handling is catastrophic. Thats my experience about british weapons. You shouls also try the Canik TP9SA, Zigana, 7.62 mm BORA-12 (JNG-90) sniper rifle or the UTS-15 Shotgun etc... I am very satisfied, I will keep and not sell these weapons again.

I bought a CZ Redhead Premier, and just got it yesterday. I know I'm probably still taking a chance, but it's a beautiful piece of work. I've only shot two rounds so far, and no problems yet! Lol It seems solid, and I've cleaned it and greased it well. I'm willing to bet that it will last at least 5 years (which is long enough for me to get out of school and get a high paying job) so long as I take care of it.

Thanks for another great video. I've got a 1970's Nikko over and under as well as a 1960's Webley 700 side by side. The Webley has better chequering and metal finish but the Nikko has wood with beautiful fiddleback figuring whereas the Webley wood is nondescript. They both shoot equally well and I am a huge fan of both. So I guess the motto is buy what you like and don't worry about the name on the barrel.

What do you think of the Turkish 'Huglu HT-14' shotgun? here it only costs about €1,500 and it comes with: * 5 chokes * Grade 3-4 wood * fixed fibre optic front sight * height-adjustable stock * adjustable recoil pad * ventilated barrels * adjustable trigger It looks really good, has a lot of features and it has a very good price. I was looking to get a Beretta 694 Sporting or a Browning B725 Sporting, but given the features and price of the Huglu HT-14 - I'm tempted to buy one: Prices: * Beretta 694 Sporting - €3,900 * Browning B725 Sporting - €3,600 * Huglu HT-14 - €1,500 What do you think?

Here in Russia it's kinda worse. Most guns from EU are unavailable due to sanctions, some are still in stock, Russian made guns are from dirt cheap to somewhat substantial and are mostly crudely made but they work. Well. Most of them. When it comes to Turkish shotguns they were cheap but now a Fabarm ELOS is roughly 200 quid less than a Silver Pigeon, which makes the choice pretty obvious. Hatsans are way cheaper and the owners seem to enjoy them.

Hi there, Lincoln are pretty much all made in Italy. This means they will have Italian proof date stamps on the barrel. If you look at the underside of the breach when the gun is taken apart there is two letters in a square box. If you google Italian gun proof date codes there will be a tonne of charts come up. Reference against one of these and you will have the year of manufacture.

Interesting..... 10 years ago some of the Turkish semi autos were a bit patchy... I fixed dozens of them, mostly with action bars separating from the piston... but they are OK now. I have a "Huglu" 20 bore O/U that is really amazingly well made for its price (75 quid.... $1500 New Zealand).... I've put about a thousand rounds through it and it's perfect. Fit and finish are right up with the more well known European makers The future? Well China is a distinct possibility. The Chinese clones of the AK47 variants, SKS carbines, 1911 pistol,s M14 clones and 870 Remington shotguns are really remarkably good.... a bit less 'finish' than they native counterparts, but functionally excellent, and this is not a new thing. 25 years ago I bought a 1911 made by Norinco in China and put over 100,000 rounds through it and when I sold it is was still perfectly serviceable with fits still well in tolerance. In that time I had one new recoil spring and a new extractor in it..... impressive. They also make an very nice version of the Russian Dragunov sniper rifle in both 7.62Nato and the 'native' 7.62 x 54R Russian round.. Their AR15s are pretty good too. So I see no reason why they cannot make damned good shotguns. Right now there are small producers in China that turn out some pretty awful stuff, but Norinco make the guns used by the Chinese military so they know how to do it right.

Mossberg advertises its value priced Maverick 88 pump shotguns as being made in the USA and they come with big stickers on the stock touting that fact. Not so fast. When I was a boy in love with firearms here in the USA, if you wanted a dependable firearm, you bought a US made Winchester or Remington, shotgun wise generally a Remington. If you wanted something nice, you bought a Belgium made Browning. A few years later once the Japanese Citori came out, it was a third the cost of a Browning Superposed. Today strangely enough, you can buy a nice used Superposed for a third of the cost of a ugly Japanese Citori. Old nice Berettas cost as much as new ones yet you can get a Franchi Falconette or fantastic old SKB for less than a new mossberg pump that ten years ago cost less than a tank of fuel today. Crazy world when you can buy a nice old Superposed for just a little more than a new plastic mossberg! lol

Many decades ago I bought a cheap Belgian trade gun from the 1890-1910 era or so for next-to-nothing. They were sold in hardware stores, Sears, etc. for maybe $8-10. The barrels were laminated steel and noticeably thinner at the breech than any other guns I had ever seen. I'm not even sure the receiver was forged rather than a casting. The over-all quality was only fair and I thought it would be a nice decorator. But in a moment of insanity and after having read that the provisional Belgian proof was something like 12 drams of powder (my poor recollection might be wrong), I loaded 2 shells and added enough components through the muzzles to make 12 dr. FFG + 2 oz. shot. Then put the gun in a rest pointed at corrugated steel 30' away. The explosions were massive and I was sure the gun was destroyed. The result: No damage to the gun at all, not even a little bulge, and 2 huge holes in the corrugated steel. That gun is one of 3 over my mantle now. Was it a great gun? Of course not. Was it adequate for it purpose? Yup.
